I wonder if Smith might slot into right back tonight to allow us to keep a similar system up top.
Wildsmith
Smith Nelson Cashin Sibley
Tommo Adams
Wilson NML CBT
Collins
If Wilson plays right back and Ward is out, we’ll be forced to go either with two strikers or three central midfielders.
I’m not saying this is what I’d do, but I think PW might go for it. I personally want to see NML back out wide asap.

Thompson’s having a shocker here

I see this as similar to the McGoldrick signing. He hasn’t been prolific in recent times but was getting Premier League minutes just 3 years ago. He will have lost the pace but should still have the footballing intelligence to out think league one defenders.

Can we please go 4-3-3 Mr Warne

I don’t think we were fantastic despite the win on Saturday. I’d like to see (assuming NML out).

My only hope now is that we haven’t seen a “Derby’s business is over” tweet from the local journos. Clearly we’re still trying but at this point I’d even take Kazim Richards (who is not at Moor Farm btw).

This is a sad one. Our best midfielder in my opinion, never understood the criticism he gets at times.
If the fee is good then so be it, and we have him until the end of the season. I’ll wish him all the best after that.
Hopefully means we can get some business done in these final hours.

Another thing we’ve tried last two games out of the blue is JJ out wide. Again looks completely redundant.
-
We seem to have changed some things tactically compared to how we were playing on our unbeaten run. Collins popping up in wide positions. Hourihane about 10 yards deeper. Cant work out what weve tried to do these last two games.
-
Playing like we did in our first two games of the season. What on earth has happened.
-
This new corner we’re trying… noticed it against Lincoln but might’ve been done before? Everyone stands on the keeper and we hammer it in low and hard. Didn’t work at Lincoln and hasn’t here, apart from when a cross ended up as a shot on target. Not sure why we’ve changed the approach, it hasn’t worked and i can’t even work out what they’re trying to do.

I know this has been said by many today but:
1 - this is a brilliant signing on paper, and I can’t wait to watch CBT + NML on each wing
2 - first transfer fee since 2020? It’s nice to know we’re a normal football club again.

I do hope we’re in the market for a left back. Even if just a loan. Not seen anything from Elder to suggest he’s anywhere near up to scratch. As evidenced by this evening again.
-
Not thought this for some time now but this one is Warne's fault rather than the players. His inability to respond to Burton changing things up is concerning and reminiscent of some earlier games.
-
Suspect these sort of margins come down to add-ons, promotion bonus etc. We'll probably offer a fair wedge if we go up, Charlton will want more cash now.
-
Hope we managed to get this one over the line. This lad and NML on each wing would be destructive.
Reach into those pockets, Mr Clowes.

Have football insider ever had some exclusive transfer news that turned out to be true? Every window they link us with someone new every two days and can’t think of when it’s ever been accurate. I’m convinced Pete O’Rourke isn’t a real person.

This ref has done a couple of our games before and been excellent. In truth, there’s only the Sibley one that I’d argue she could have dealt with differently, had a word with him instead. NML and Hourihane both lunged in after sloppy touches and could arguably have seen red, Bird pulled their player back as they were countering which is one we see in matches every week, the Collins one there was a bit of aggro between both players and she’s booked them to stamp it out. It’s our ill discipline that is giving the ref decisions to make.
There really wasn’t much at all in the Collins one. Bird Hourihane and NML all deserved though.

This ref is absolutely desperate to send someone off here. We need to be careful.

Not sure this is so much the managers fault, when the players can’t put 3 forward passes together. Some awful performances so far.

We’ll have to get a point on Saturday, P’Boro will play the ressies again and get walloped. Not that that should be a problem for us… hopefully.
I think I’d be angry if we’d taken the approach they have tonight. Anything can happen in football, remember Bristol Rovers going up after scoring 7 on the final day in 2022.
