    Not very reliable is he?

Think it was revealed some time back TFR is just be some kids sat at home making up rumours together.

Either way, 30 seconds of scrolling on Twitter will reveal this has been made up by a few faceless accounts who all tweeted it at the same time.

If anyone couldn't arrive at that conclusion themselves, I'd be gravely concerned about what else they believed on the internet.

  2. As has been said a few times now… if he’s just popped up on our radar on the cheap and we’ve gone for it - and we still fully intend on bringing another striker in - then I’m all for Rhodes.

If however our three strikers for this season are Collins, Washington and Rhodes (given Warne’s three strikers comments) I would be concerned to say the least.

Smith's apparently good mates with his Knibbs who's also a free agent with them both leaving Cambridge, they went on holiday together according to someone on their forum.

Knibbs is waiting around to see what Reading offer him if they get their poo sorted, it wouldn't entirely surprise me if they stick together and end up going there (or somewhere else) as a package deal.

Thought Knibbs had already moved but a quick twitter search confirms otherwise. Could be an astute double signing considering our shortcomings at that end of the pitch (believe Knibbs can/does also play out wide).

  4. Think Sam Smith from Cambridge on a free now is an obvious one people have mentioned, but the fact no one has signed him would suggest his wage demands are rather high.

Might be one we see move in a few weeks time when his wage demands drop. Only 25 years old and has scored around 15 goals last two seasons at this level for a poor side. You’d hope he’d add a few more in a better team.

  5. Luke Jephcott could turn out to be a shrewd signing up top.

23-year-old just released off Plymouth's books. Scored 16 and then 10 in his first two full seasons for them (not always a regular starter), was even linked to Championship clubs apparently but ended up on loan at Swindon last year (not sure why, if I'm missing something please let me know).

Young, free and has scored goals at this level before.

  6. Benik Afobe? 30-years-old and just released from a team in the UAE (albeit second tier) after scoring 9 in 17. According to Twitter, Arsenal are letting him train at their facilities (where he came through as a kid I believe) which leads me to believe he could be angling for a move back in the UK

Forgive me if I've missed something with regards to him moving elsewhere but reckon it could be one we have/are looking at.

Seem to remember him never really getting a full season under his belt but being a real goalscorer with a run of games. 12 in 38 games in his last full championship season, 2021/22 at Millwall.

Or, he’s 30, wanted a 3 year deal, has only scored goals in the last 2 seasons of his whole career and our funds are better elsewhere.

Hence, not time to push the panic button yet.

Although 30 is within the age range Warne laid out today.

  8. Bit surprising we weren’t all over this given Warne’s comments today about struggling to sign strikers. Perhaps we were and got priced out which would be concerning.
No need to push the panic button yet mind.

“Bids so far have been below 2m”

    Says who?

We have zero idea if its 200k or 2m

John Percy - the most reliable journo covering Derby - tweeted on June 20: "#BristolCity transfer news - Derby have rejected 2 bids for midfielder Jason Knight, the latest at around £1.5m. Getting closer. Birmingham are also in talks with #dcfc over a permanent deal for Krystian Bielik of up to £1m #bcfc."

Not saying it's gospel but we clearly do have an idea it's not 200k.

  10. I think the whole Knight saga could serve as somewhat of a litmus test for how much money Clowes can/is willing to put into the playing staff.

Obviously we are still yet to pay a transfer fee under him. If he was trying to run it on a shoestring, Knight would have left for the rumoured 1m or so that’s been bid. If we had bags of cash spare he’d gamble and keep him for a year to see if we can go up and resign the lad.

I suspect his position is somewhere between those two poles and we’re holding out for 2-2.5m bid - which is by no means cheap for a player with one year left and playing below his level.

And that’s by no means a criticism of the new ownership. If anything it sounds sensible, although obviously I’d like to have knight in our team for another year.

  11. We were poor today and have been for a few weeks. Not going to be one of those saying ‘we nearly didn’t have a club, put it in perspective’ but things aren’t as glum as some are making out. A point gained on Peterborough today and still in with a shout at play offs.

Warne couldn’t do a thing wrong only a few weeks ago. We’ve got a tiny aging squad so things will inevitably slip at this point in the season. Hopefully we can regroup and sneak into playoffs with some momentum. If we don’t or we do and lose in them, we’ll have a whole summer to strengthen and give it a proper go next year. COYR
