Elder can’t get on in his actual position ahead of Thompson? That and he’d rather play a CM at LWB than change to a four…
-
We look better because we’ve had a flurry of set pieces. The issues from open play haven’t been resolved at all I’m afraid.
-
Wildsmith could’ve done better but he’s isn’t even in the top three most culpable people for that goal.
-
There’s nothing inherently wrong with 5 at the back. Plenty of the best teams in the world use it. Our specific set up is the issue. I get there’s goals to be had from out wide but it’s all we’re doing. These no clear pattern of play in the middle of the park. No pattern of transition from defence to midfield and midfield to attack. Which is why we keep giving the ball away.

We’ve offered absolutely zero from open play. This is absolute tripe and we should be more goals down and on 10 men.
-
God this is poo. System is so disjointed.
-
Whatever way you look at it, Clowes’ comments about our budget weren’t true. Would rather he just have told the truth and admit we haven’t got that much.
-
He’s not going to revert from 5 at the back yet but suspect some tweaks will be made.
Wildsmith
Nelson Bradley Cashin
Wilson Bird Hourihane Forsyth
Ward Collins Mendez-Laing
Is what i’d go for. Eliminates the need for the wide centre halves to get too far up and hopefully cuts out some of these ridiculous 1 vs 1 situations we keep finding ourselves in.
-
I suspect he will stick with his plan for now and we’ll see a similar team than from Saturday. Especially given how we’ve recruited. If we’re losing at half time again I think we’ll see him break and revert to a 4.
-
Weird interview that. Complete vibe shift from a mere 5 days ago around the club and fan base.
However I must say some of the reaction is ridiculously over the top.

Just seen that second. Christ.
These howlers are at least a bit comical in a cup competition we don't really need to be in. Will be much less funny when it's Mason Bennett walking it into an empty net in the league on Saturday.
-
I do wonder how much more of this Warne will watch before reverting to 4 at the back like last season.

No chance in hell we can offer Bannan the wages he'll want.
-
It always amazes me how much importance the captaincy holds for some. I really don’t think it means much at all.
-
I did say it seems unlikely but aren’t Wendies pretty skint? Might need the cash. Not that we can offer much.
-
Michael Smith would be a great singing, can’t see it happening mind.
Will pass on Matt Smith.

That was a bit uncomfortable. Warne got a bit defensive there in response to another comment about the striker search.
Tbf, the person who messaged in started with ‘I am not looking forward to this season as our strikers a poo’ so I get why he responded how he did…

This is different to Knight in that it leaves us way too light in midfield if he goes, meaning he's worth more to us at the moment than he would be normally.
Player might be worth £2m for example (one year left on contract I believe) but I suspect the impact his loss would have might make Clowes demand a higher fee (until we line up a replacement).
Hull appear to be trying to offload Ryan Woods. Wonder if some from of swap could be agreed.

Have said it before but Benik Afobe, similar age to Wickham, is on a free. Better scoring record too and was training at Arsenal a couple weeks back. Perhaps he wants a Championship move but surely worth a look (and perhaps we've already taken a look).

What about Connor Wickham
Did very well at Forest Green at start of last season. Then moved to Cardiff and didn't play many minutes. Not even checked but presume it was because he got injured given the rest of his career. I suspect that might be what puts us off.

Is Warne living on borrowed time?

To answer the title question of this thread, hopefully.
