I don't say £20 million is the loss to Derby County due to COVID. I say that is the lost revenue during the period until the stadium reopened to fans in august 2021. Add on lost revenue for 2021-22 of maybe another £5 million to £10 million due to vulnerable fans staying away, loss of Corporate jollies, events  and discretionary hospitality etc.
Then how much more could we have got for Jayden Bogle at pre COVID valuations, maybe £5 million more. Or Morgan Whittaker maybe £2 million more. Or players who left at  end of contracts for nothing because we couldn't afford to keep them.

I don't really want to think about the effects on player valuations of people who are still at the club, as I hope we don't find out in January. But even if you ignore the effect of COVID on the saleability of the club and the threat to the club's very existence, you are probably talking, with a further significant loss due to player valuations plunging,  at total losses due to COVID close to maybe 80% to 90% of the £60 million of hard debt we are reported to have.

A good read that was Reg, But not for those who believe in Fairy Tales, Football for me lost it's Soul years ago, I can't put a date/time on it, The passion I had for football has got me into bother with Away fans, Home fans, Family, The Law, The Courts, All because of a team called Derby County, They could have been aliens from another planet who ate their children and i've still walked on broken glass barefooted to watch them.
Football is a Corrupt Sport, FIFA, UEFA, CONCACAF and others are even today in it for the Money, Fans like B4 who posts on here, He and his Dad go home and away, Spend their hard earned, Are treated when going away as an inconvenience, He's where I and many many 1000s were back in the day.
In todays World of Football...it's run by those who have NO! affinity to the club they own, Players who cheat, Refs who are incompetent have taken the game to another World, Yesterday England Vs Albania...2mins of injury time in the 1st half, When there were 4 stopages from Albanian players going down injuered amounting to close on 8mins, The fans are still being cheated, The price fans pay for this division is £30+ for an away game...and people still pay it...and fare play to them.
Sorry for the rant all unfortunately it's the World we live in...driven by £££££££££££££££££££££.

For me, the EFL became the bad guys when they used the words "disappointed" and "regrettable" when one of their attempts to punish us failed. Its a governing body and should be ran as such, the use of such language turned it into a witch hunt imo.
None of that takes any blame from Mel, it just makes the EFL look like they are not bothered about the actual rules and whether we have broken them, but rather they want to punish us because we appear to have broken the rules and are under pressure from powerful lobbying from outside their organisation.
    Plus I'm biased. ???

Everything the EFL wants is being leaked to the gutter press, the same gutter press who asked no questions about Ridsdale fit for purpose for a role on the EFL board, all in it together it stinks.
Share issue by Bristol City,  7/11/2019 £71 million Landsdown transferred them to himself to write off club debt, 2/6/2021 another share issue to himself £14 million to write off club debt, is this not a form of cheating to beat ffs.
Gibson transfering money from his haulage company to the football club for which the EFL have done nothing yet surely this is another form of cheating, no excuses from the EFL for they can go way back with Derby

Part of having an expert witness provide evidence is the the jury (or panel of judges in this case) decide on the competence of the witness.  You can't just have someone rock up and claim to be an expert and then be required by law to take it on faith that they are. The 3 judges on the panel clearly listened to Prof Pope's evidence and decided he was unfit to be an expert witness - there are repeated statements in their written report about him being unaware of the very rules he was giving evidence on, him not understanding his actual role as an expert witness and generally not being at all useful.  It's quite frankly bizarre that that would all be ignored by the appeals panels.
Obviously we should have presented our own expert witness, but I do wonder if we thought the point we lost on was so self-evident that we didn't actually need to prove it was true. We basically lost because the EFL argued that when FRS102 says "from use and disposal" it actually only allows "from use" and the other 2 words are entirely superfluous.  If you're going argue that words don't mean the things they mean, then we'd still be there now arguing over every word in the dictionary.

Exactly. Also why should promotion to the Premier league allow a club to avoid points deductions for FFP breaches in the Championship ?
It is analogous to an individual committing fraud on a massive scale and then fleeing to the Costa Del Sol to escape punishment.

Understand the sentiment Jim but I think I'd go with the turn up en masse and sing loud, sing proud option. The club and the players need all the support they can get currently and we don't want prospective new owners thinking us fans are off on our toes.
It's also a bit of a two-fingered salute to our myriad of detractors.

No. But a lifelong fan who has been taken aback by the far ranging hatred towards someone who has invested significantly with the hope of achieving the premier goal we all desire. If I were a billionaire I wouldn't want to invest. Whatever the next person does is likely to be hated. Invest and they shouldn't have done. Don't invest, then the moaning about lack of investment will inevitabley follow.

Or maybe as a fan, a businessman and with the fans expectations, Mel put his own money in to the club to invest with a view to getting the club promoted along with shrewd business tactics. The EFL then decide to change and backdate the rules and therefore force the club from a compliant FFP position into a potentially non compliant position followed by vitriol and hatred shown by the fans towards Mel. I can't say I blame him putting the club into admin with the way a lot of the Derby fans behave.
Now if John Percy is to be believed, the EFL are dragging out the appeal hearing for the administration so that any sale cannot be concluded forcing the administrators to retract the appeal, accept the additional points deduction to clear up the situation as soon as possible and conclude the sale.
    Wonderful.

League One doesn't operate FFP like the Championship does. Instead of Profit and Sustainability (P&S) rules clubs operate under the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP) which restricts salaries to 60% of the turnover. Given that Derby would have one of the largest turnovers in the division (probably the largest if Sunderland go up) and that all of our high earners will have gone (most already have), I think it gives the management team some scope to build a very competitive squad around the talented young players on our books.
Of course some of our best players will be sold (or released), but I don't think it will be the clear out some might imagine.
And, as I have said before, League One is just the same old circus but with new towns in which to pitch the big top. After all, the mere act of going to the football each week is far more important than the football you are going to! Otherwise we'd all be Man City fans.
