Yeah I’ve seen the Notts County quotes since. Good lad!!
Yeah his game is all about bringing others into play. A proper no 9 but could also do a 10 job,  Collins is a proper no 9, we’ve had to rely on Kazim since Martin left, clear intent we’re going to play with a proper no 9 who will hold the ball rather than the Lampard approach, which in hindsight I’m not sure there was an approach apart from give the ball to Mount and Wilson and give Marriott the odd through ball.

There you go then, he’s clearly chosen location over the money. Fair play to him.
Ex-Forest players are always controversial, especially given he didn’t do well there. It was a long time ago though, and I think he’s evolved as a player since then. People have to understand that his game isn’t about scoring goals as much as bringing others into play and providing assists. The goals would come from someone like Collins, a proven goalscorer in League One. McGoldrick is very effective at what he does, so we need to judge him on that rather than his ability as a “poacher”.
FWIW, I’m not 100% sure he is a Forest fan. He was born in Nottingham but started his career at Notts County. Plausibly supports them in that case, which isn’t an issue.

He lives near me in Bramcote on same estate where Jozefzoon used to live. Think Cyrus Christie rented there as well at one point. Easy access to a52 he could be at Moor Farm in 15 mins on a good day.
Shows footballers are professionals and we shouldn’t expect them to have same ideals as fans given McGoldrick grew up a red dog and played for Forest, they treated him badly though given he wasn’t exactly good for them hence his nickname McGoaldrought.

I think he’s a great signing, intelligent player, a team player, will get the best out of others even if he doesn’t get loads of goals himself. Signing him and potentially Collins shows plan a is to have a number 9 playing with back to goal and bringing others into play, a tactic that served us well for a long time until we lost a certain number 9.

He's gonna end up Bald, which I'm not sure is worse than the pubehead he's already sporting

It's unusual for a club to have almost a clean sheet when looking at building a squad for the new season. So far, we appear to be going about things in exactly the right way, with some experienced players coming in on one or two year deals.
It makes me feel better about the inevitable departures, or even that we might be comfortable keeping them if that's what they want. The players who remain under contract must surely be encouraged by the quality of signings too.
It seems like we are in control, not the players - and that feels good.
We must give credit to Wayne and particularly Liam because they told us they had a plan for player recruitment and we are watching it come to fruition.

Oh yeah, I don’t expect either have been offered their previous wages matched by anywhere. But I do feel Championship clubs will still be offering decent money, so I’m pleasantly surprised they’ve chosen to come here instead.

It's not really a pay cut when you're out of contract though.  The only real question is what other clubs are offering them.  A lot of clubs are struggling post-COVID, and will be cutting their spending accordingly.  If we're competing with the likes of Luton and Huddersfield, then I doubt they are offering them similar terms to what they were on last season either.

There’s more than just wages involved in a football transfer for example both those two lads were mainly sat on a bench last season and it’s a good sign that they actually want to play regularly in addition to the fact that they are very local to our area for travel to work and may well have wives who don’t want to move house just for a couple of years or have to move possible children away from school or friends. There’s also another reason - we are still a very big club and both saw the support we gave the team both home and away last season and might fancy a similar atmosphere.

I guess the likes of McGoldric and Hairyhands have had many seasons on high wages and could  be happy to sacrifice a bit of dough for and interesting “project” at a nearby team (assumption they have houses not that far away) with good facilities.
Where as Collins has just had a short championship spell with for the first time high wage and quite reasonably would prefer similar to what he was on at Cardiff

More good news… if only to piss off Middlesbrough. Hopefully a Hourihane and McGoldrick double signing tomorrow then, excellent business.

Brilliant news, he’s the player I was most excited about. Unreal signing at this level and a real statement of intent. FWIW, I’ve been told him and Chester are very close and effectively come as a package, so I’m expecting him to sign shortly too.

Gonna give these their own thread because Ryan Conway has written some great articles so far Including this one.
I think sums up everything id like to say about Cocu’s reign but with some really interesting bits of info. I liked Cocu a lot and I’m very much in the camp that he was the right man at the wrong time, it’s a shame it all started to come together just as the world shut down.
Anyway, keep up the good work Ryan!
