  1. Made up for Tomori getting his big break, well done to the lad. Must be a massive moment making it like that. Can’t help but feel he can’t possibly be ready for that top level of the prem yet though, really needed some experience week in week out lower down. Chelsea being down to him and zouma at centre half says something.

  2. Press are gonna be all over this for weeks so expect this thread to be busy. Pretty easy first game as well to start pre season, they’ll hammer them and get everyone excited. Least we seem to still have a good relationship with Chelsea so should still be up there for loanees. Doubt we’ll get Tomori back tho now Lampard has got there, I think he’ll be involved.

My cat quite often kills small birds and mice, but this morning I awoke to find she'd taken out a massive wood pigeon

The reality is that although we are trying to gain promotion, we are nowhere near being a side that could compete at that level. We have players like Butterfield that is very poor in his passing ability. Johnson showed against Norwich that he is in the same category. We should NEVER have paid what we did for the likes of Butterfield, Johnson, Vydra, etc. we need MAJOR injection of quality even if it's in the form of five loan players of Premiership quality.

I can only think of TWO or THREE players that could survive in the Premiership, and that would be Hughes, Carson, and possibly Ince. The rear guard are good, but aging, and wouldn't survive in the Premiership, evidenced against Norwich. Am I wrong?

Bloody hell mate, i thought I was negative, and then I read this!

Why???? Thorne is a CDM? 4-4-2 and 4-4-1-1 are Pearson formations neither have a CDM!!

Right now I'm not sure anyone can say with any certainty what Pearson will play, he's played various formations so far, whos to say he won't play a defensive mid. And regardless of whether we play a defensive mid by trade, we still need a strong tackling defensive minded midfielder to play alongside our more attacking midfielders, regardless of the formation we play when Thorne isn't fit
