Don't think I've ever felt so out of kilter with our fanbase. There's always been a few on here, but since Covid it's been an absolute deluge. The amount of new members joining just so they can join the pile on is staggering. We've literally gone from being the most staunch set of fans in the entire EFL, to this, all in 18 months or less. Fortunately, our most loyal fans, especially those who seem to go to every game, come rain, wind or shine, seem able more than able to take the knocks without the kind of histrionics we see on the matchday threads. 
Ah well, a big performance is a must now against Cheltenham, or this forum will be toxic beyond belief. 

Hands down, the worst display of passing I've ever seen. Cash and Bird have been shocking. Nothing to do with Warne, the players are not doing the basics and it's costing us

Him and bird is so bad to watch at times as a midfield. Hard to gauge who’s slower or tackles softer on a bad day!
both technically decent but feel soft and slow as a midfield for me.

To answer the original question.
Which ever way the transfer window goes, there will be those who say Stick, then moan if we fail and there will be those who say, throw caution to the wind and spend, then moan if we fail.
I believe if you have a good tight knit squad who remain fit (obviously nothing is guaranteed) then maybe just strengthen in your vulnerable areas.
Don't just throw money in (MM) because it is the RIGHT Thing to do and WILL hopefully get us promoted.
So pleased I do not have to make those decisions.
