There might be a time when Collins gets injured this season(I bloody hope not)and those who are primed to have a pop at him will see how much he contributes to this team, It's not just the goals it's his all-round effort to either get the ball back or harass the opposition, The honourable "workhorse" ☺️

I think Collo is playing himself into Player of the Season contention

  2. I go mainly to home games I’ve struggled to make away games this season due to childcare. I would say the first 2 months of home games were a really tough watch and yesterday was very reminiscent of early season. I don’t think it’s been bad in between and I think people who don’t like the manager or his ideas are using the last week to re-emphasise their views and say it’s all part of a long trend which I don’t necessarily subscribe to. Lincoln was a tough game - as demonstrated by Posh yesterday. Reading we know was abject.

Cheltenham was an awkward game don’t care what anyone says. They are only where they are because they are catching up from one of the worst starts to a season in history. Their form is midtable since Clarke came in. They fought scrapped played football at times and played well, whereas we struggled. Until birds goal yesterday we were horrific, but the lads should be commended for getting the job done in-spite of the equally horrific home backing yesterday. It was a tough watch yes but we’re in a promotion race and we need to do better. Booing when Cheltenham scored cheering the Hourihane sub - it’s moronic.

The performances last 2 games have concerned me we’re going to hit a dip again at precisely the wrong time - but I also think other teams will so picking up points is vital. It was a good day for us yesterday. Last season we may well have not got the win. We also had games in the run in last season where we were excellent but dropped valuable points through not being clinical (Shrewsbury Pompey MK Dons). This season even if the football at times isn’t great we look to be more clinical and hopefully this will see us through.

Yes we need to improve again but we are right in this and I get the impression we won’t go away without a fight. Fans need to get behind them.

  3. This will be a tough game. Clarke has done an unbelievable job there so far. We should not be turning up expecting us to batter them 5-0, fans should get behind the lads. I really can’t believe the negativity, can understand the frustration and anger at the performance on Tuesday but we’ve had one defeat and 1 draw at home since October and we’ve won many. If Cheltenham do come out fast and press us it gives us the chance to potentially put the game to bed in the first 20 mins but I think Darrell Clarke will be cute he’ll have a plan to try and stop our ball players.

Think NML and CBT will start and think we could cause them havoc. Cheltenham will make it tough but we’ll have enough to do the job.

Warnes tactics The only midfielder doing anything and because bird and hourihane are undroppable like alot of players in warnes team he has to replace tommo because why?

    Wasn’t the reason we lost.

We don’t know situation, Tommo could be managing something. Hourihane and Bird are his senior players so he’s relying on them, the former because he can have a poor game and still win you a match. We’re light in midfield right now and I think you’ll see Tommo play a big role in the run in. He hasn’t really got a lot of options, he can’t rely on Fornah based on his performance in the Trophy the other week.

That would be easier if it was a s*** performance in isolation but how many s*** performances have we had recently? How often have we actually looked good?

I’m certainly not panicking but neither am I filled with confidence that even if we retain our play off place and continue to be on the fringes of the autos (both of which I think we will) we’ll start to look like a good team. Generally speaking, I only get to watch the limited highlights of the other promotion contenders. Maybe week in week out they’re not much better and my expectations are too high. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not many IMO. Think some are overreacting. We’ve not be scintillating but we’ve not been bad, good in patches of games rather than full games. Burton for example we were decent until we let them back in.

But last night was so bad don’t think it’s evidence of a trend, it has its own category. That’s more my point.

  6. All this crap starting to emerge again about style of play after 1 defeat. It’s tiresome. Idiots on Twitter (including some of our prominent podcasters) flip flopping again from it’s all brilliant to the world is now caving in, saying the performances for weeks have been awful and this is a continuation. b*******. While our performances haven’t been scintillating they haven’t been bad. We lost to a Posh side who is flying right now (can happen with young teams, can just as easily fall away), the Fleetwood and Burton games were patchy, we were good for 50 mins against Burton before we let them back in with individual errors. Lincoln was a struggle but seemed like one of those games to get through unscathed, that happens.

Last night was abject in every sense of the word. One of the worst performances under Warne and far worse than recent games. Where as Lincoln made everything a fight and a contest, Reading were there for the taking and we missed a huge opportunity. And it wasn’t down to style of play or Warne’s tactics, wasn’t even down to his subs although I agree he should’ve left Liam on. It was down to players not doing their jobs and underperforming. Not doing the basics such as being able to pass the ball to another teammate, poor first touches, wrong decisions. Frustrating given a lot was at stake last night but this performance is on the players and they need to put it right.

4 winnable games coming up now, we move on.

  7. For saying we’re two divisions below them and would dearly love to be in their position with the roles reversed, Forest are actually giving me quite a lot of entertainment this season.

The constant whinging about officials, about MOTD coverage overlooking  them, and the FFP conspiracy against them.

A fan base believing their club should lauded as one of the best in the land, amongst the elite because of the 2 stars on their shirt from when god was a lad. They actually think they’re relevant, and they’re desperate to be relevant and that makes for great comedy value as they keep fighting to stay out of those relegation places.

They will always be disappointed because they think they are entitled to more (at least a proportion of them, there are some red dogs that know what’s what and where they are in the pyramid). They should be a top 25 club (as should we), a worthy addition to the premier league but no more. They punched above their weight under Clough for a period and that success will never happen again, they should be proud of that but consign it to history and hope they can establish themselves as a mid table/bottom half club for a few seasons. Seen them compare themselves to the likes of Villa and Everton - they are not even close to the size of those clubs.

Their chairman is a lunatic and while he should be applauded for backing them his scattergun approach and his believing they should be better than they actually are will be their undoing.

As for the Toney complaint to the PGMOL, anyone else notice the red dog wall stood over the line and not 10 yards?! Gamesmanship on both sides, they should pipe down. But they won’t.

And who the f*** self proclaims their ground as World Famous?! 🤣🤣🤣

  8. Can’t win every game, thought we did well to get the point yesterday, move on and try to win the next one. Hopefully Blackett-Taylor coming in and Smith if reports are to be believed will make a difference. Collo needs someone to share the load.

Vickers and Elder have been criticised by a few and I definitely count myself as one who criticised them, thought they did well yesterday especially Vickers, that was by far his best game yet.

As for Foz being under appreciated I agree, personally I think he’s dipped this season defensively (been decent going forward) but thought his last few performances before getting injured were his best of the season. What a servant and what resilience to come back from 3 serious knee injuries, he looked done after the 2nd one under Rowett, but then found form again under Lampard before his 3rd ACL, since coming back after that he’s been decent overall particularly in the administration season. Not sure how much longer he’ll be able to play at the level we require him to though.

  9. Isn’t he from the north east? Defo the sort of player Sunderland will be in for. Don’t think we can afford him right now. These are the sort of signings we should’ve made 8/9 years ago but Mel instead signed the likes of Darren Bent and David Nugent on millions!!

Just seen that. He stated "a few" are on course, so at least 3 and not including Bird or Cashin, Whilst Thompson and Waghorn haven't played in too many games to be classed as "on course". Smith is injred with no fixed return date, and is also down the pecking order of CMs so I also doubt he's included. Although, that could be another reason for the rumours suggesting we're trying to move him on. Wildsmith, Forsyth, Hourihane, Barkhuizen and Collins would be the leading candidates - with only Wildsmith being a regular starter in the Championship

Yeah agree although Foz wouldn’t be surprised if they’re just going 12 months at a time. I’d be ok with Wildsmith getting an extension, maybe Collo if we’re still in L1 but not the rest.

  11. We’re still operating under a business plan which is as much destined to stifle our competitiveness as a penalty for going into administration as to protect us from further mismanagement. Yes we can pay transfer fees but it all has to come from the same pot. Next season we will really see our financial power with being technically left to our own devices, it could be Clowes is happy with the budget we’re operating and doesn’t want to move from that which would be a concern.

Also concerning, Leigh Curtis also mentions in his article about Warne alluding to a number of players who are about to trigger contract extensions based on appearances!! We got into trouble with under Mel with the likes of Benty Bradley Johnson and others, if Smith and Hourihane for example are on similar deals then that means we’ll be saddled with their high wages next season which will mean we’re still restricted in what we can do. Both of these players are ones we should be thanking for their contribution and moving on in the summer IMO.

  12. Let’s remember, the Wendies thought Mendez was s*** and were laughing at us when we signed him. Ok he’s done it at a higher level and has a better pedigree but this lad is 26, he’s up there in L1 in terms of stats, if he’s a similar player to Mendez then how much better will that be for Mendez teams having another problem to deal with. Sounds like we’re all over this and good if so.

  13. Well that wasn’t worth freezing my tits off for but at least I can say I got to an EFL Trophy game this season to go with my game last season although this was nowhere near as enjoyable as our win over Grimsby (my last EFL trophy game). I viewed this as a real opportunity to get to Wembley and I’m bitterly disappointed we haven’t grasped it. However, I sincerely hope this is the last ever EFL trophy game we ever play and I’m pleased we can now fully focus on the league.

So many weren’t at it tonight, thought Sonny did ok, along with Nelson Wilson cash when he came on and Collo, everyone else may as well have not been there. Thommo Sibs and Fornah didn’t grasp their opportunity although thought it was slightly harsh on Sibs to be subbed, thought he was at least trying to make things happen.

I have serious concerns about Ward Fornah and Vickers. Not sure they are good enough.

Ward is a wannabe David Beckham, can’t defend or tackle, no pace no trick likes the Hollywood cross but 9 times out of 10 straight into the keepers arms. Predictable, not dangerous.

Vickers looks very uncertain, he flaps I worry about his positional sense he’s dodgy playing out from the back and he even makes simple saves look Hollywood. Maybe Warne wanted him to bring a bit more Disney to the team. Not for me. Get Wildsmith back in ASAP.

Fornah is a real enigma. Technically and athletically brilliant, that tackle pirouette run and pass in the first half was a thing of beauty. However despite strength and power he can get pushed off the ball easily, his positional discipline tonight was horrific,  and whenever he made a tackle or a pass he then stops ball comes back to him and he’s on his heels leading him to get beaten to the ball or closed down to the point where he’s forced to tackle, misplace a pass or pass backwards. Really poor and playing like that I can’t see any way he gets into the team.

Hope we react positively to this and continue our form in the league and this will be quickly forgotten but please Derby, get promoted never come back here and never play in this godforsaken competition ever again.

I think it’s people taking Warne’s pre match comments about Bird having a contract offer on the table that he’s yet to sign and running with that as “Bird has refused to sign it”.

Further comment then stirred up by Rosenior’s pre-match press conference for Hull in which he said he’s really excited about a deal they have lined up and hope to announce on or before Saturday, but he ended the press conference saying midfield isn’t a priority area they’re looking to strengthen when asked specifically about Bird, mentioned respecting Bird and the club. Noise from my City supporting mates is that they’re in for Ryan Kent and some lad from Burnley.

Yeah that was my take just wanted to check I hadn’t missed anything. Not signing a contract and keeping your options open is different to rejecting one. Why would he commit at this point? I remember when Roy Keane ran his contract down at United, he signed a new one.

Im not even sure Hull are in for bird now, they’re definitely trying for a statement signing from premier league or abroad.
