Went to Munich about 10 years ago for a stag do and I think I drank more beer in 2 days than the previous 2 years.  Not the slightest hangover or feeling rough.  Apparently it's something to do with German law that each beer must be made of a combination of 4 natural ingredients. No crap, no hangover.  Get stuck in

We’re off to Oktoberfest on Thursday. We’ve got one session in the Schottenhamel tent which is Spaten beer, and a session in the Armbrustschutenzelt (the crossbow tent!!) which serves Paulaner. The Saturday booking is 9am - 2pm so that will be interesting!

    Agree with everything you've posted.
I thought that Wayne Rooney was the man for us, but whilst he  did an amazing job in galvanizing the team and fans through one of the worst times ever, he didn't convince me that he was the right choice in the long term. He may have been a wonderful manager this season, operating in slightly less restrictive circumstances, but we'll never know. I will always have a lot of respect for him for his efforts.
Liam was only appointed as an interim manager and we have no way of knowing what conversations he has had with DC since he took over or what expectations he might have had or have been given. I hoped from the start that he would eventually be given the job, but it was not to be. So far this season we have been too inconsistent with very good games, a couple of shockers and real problems scoring away from home. A few players don't seem to be playing as well as they should be whether through lack of experience, wrong position or any number of reasons. Liam Rosenior is a really good guy, a brilliant communicator and so positive and upbeat, but like Wayne, he may not be our best bet going forwards due to a lack of experience and we don't have the luxury of time on our side. Like Wayne, he may well be a brilliant manager going forward and may still manage us in the future.
I've heard good things about Paul Warne on Radio Derby interviews this morning. I didn't get the name of the guy being interviewed but he spoke of his passion for his club, players and fans. Highly regarded by players and fans, the guy said he had seen him cry a few times when he spoke of his love for his club and players. Wears his heart on his sleeve, normally calm team talks at half time but can give the team both barrels if needed. He knows what is needed to get out of this league. If ever there was a glowing reference for a job, this was it. He is also a funny guy.
Feel sad for Liam, but hope his time will come. In the meantime I hope he stays with us for at least this season and learns much from our new and greatly experienced manager, possibly what to do and maybe what not to do. I think it will do Liam good to work under Paul and to take that valuable experience forward into his next appointment.
I wish Wayne, Liam, David Clowes and Paul Warne nothing but the very best. Who knows what this season will bring, but I feel that with Liam hopefully still on board, DC and PW and his backroom staff steering the ship and players (hopefully) playing in their favourite positions it'll be an exciting ride! ❤️?❤️? X

This is from my mate who’s worked at Derby, Rotherham and other places in football.
He’s a Spurs fan at heart but I’ll allow that weirdness from him.
I asked his opinion on us getting Warne and this is his reply…..
‘Mate what a signing ! If anyone can get you out of league 1 it’s him.! Likes a certain attitude doesn’t accept big time Charlie’s. Proper manager. Like wise Ritchie who comes with him and Matt.’

    I’ll take that.
    I’ll get behind him.
Hope Liam goes on to be successful in whatever he does.

I was really surprised by this and my first emotion was to feel very sorry for Liam. He seems like a very nice guy and has put his all into the job. I wish him success wherever he ends up.
On reflection, I can see why DC has made the decision, particularly now. He’s carried out a top to bottom review of the club, like he said he would. I’m speculating but I imagine he said he’d give Liam 9 or 10 games and then assess. The fact we’ve got an international break makes it the right time to review.
So what are the positives / negatives? To me, the positives are:
    1. We’re in 7th, level on points with play offs.
    2. We’ve looked very good in parts of some games.
    3. Liam clearly worked very hard to build a squad and was a big factor in certain players coming on board. The players seem to like him.
    4. He’s shown the club loyalty and we really need some stability.
    Negatives:
    1. We haven’t scored an away league goal all season.
I’m not going to put any other negatives because this is so alarming. We’re 2 1/2 months into the season and we haven’t scored away from home. How can DC carry out a review of the season so far and get past this? Does he hope that we start converting chances?
Is Liam’s style of play conducive to winning in League 1, particularly away from home? I’m really not convinced. We faff around at the back until we’re pressed and then the keeper / Cashin launch a long diagonal with little success. But Liam strongly believes in this philosophy so that is unlikely to change.
I don’t know how to feel about Paul Warne. I’m not going to hold one interview against him when he was clearly emotional so if he comes in, I’ll get right behind him. My worry would be whether the players can quickly adapt to his style of play.

It’s not an easy question, because I have so much respect for Liam Rosenior and would’ve been happy to see him take on the job for the next 18 months.
However, if it was my money on the table and promotion was required this season to stem further bleeding then I would absolutely go with Warne.
Emotional choice would be Rosenior, business choice would be Warne.

I find some of the complaints about Warne, and the defences of Rosenior a little conflicting.
On the one hand, the football we play isn’t working because we don’t have good enough players to pass their way through teams at this level.
At the same time, Warne won’t work because we play neat, passing football. It’s one or the other really, we have a good squad so what kind of football are we well suited to?
For what it’s worth, there is a difference between being direct and playing hoofball. Being direct just means getting the ball forward quickly. We have pace out wide, big strikers and midfielders who can pass. Those together add up pretty well for direct football.
It’s a gamble, but I think it’s less of a gamble than keeping LR if we really want promotion this year. A lot of work was done in the summer but that would’ve happened whatever the manager. Would we have ended up with a vastly different squad if Warne joined at the start of the summer? I doubt it. We had a limited pool of players we could go for under our current restrictions, so I don’t think the squad being largely built by a different manager will be a massive issue.
If we do play less attractive football but spend less time trapped in the third tier, then that’s good with me.
Edit: For what it’s worth, I’ve just checked at Rotherham scored 70 goals last season in League 1, averaging 1.5 a game. We are currently scoring 1.0 goals a game. We should technically be more dangerous in the final third, if we’re going on which style yields more goals.

    From Mr Giddypant RUFC Forum
I was going to post this on the Derby forum, but couldn't be arsed.

I have been supporting Rotherham since 1958. I'm devastated if this is fact, and increasingly it's looking likely. Few of you have done your homework. You share the (previously correct) impression that we are a long-ball team with limited ability to play 'proper' football.

Many of you have voiced doubts that Warney could make best use of your 'talented' team. Fear not. Warney has proved himself adept at utilising the talents of his players. His ambitions have been limited by the resources available to him, not by an ideological devotion to a 'hit and hope' philosophy.

This year we have recruited players who add to the pool of talent we had last year. Except for Warney's first year in the job we have seen a progressive development in terms of player recruitment and positive achievements on, and off, the field.

As a man manager I doubt there are few better at this level. He has personalty and wit. I love the man and what he has done for my club.

    Think yourselves lucky.

Feel free to copy and paste.

PS, with any luck he'll be sacked within the year and come back 'home'.
Thats sounds to me the sort of thing I'd love to hear from the Rotherham fans....
