Whilst no one actually knows, it seems extremely likely that the EFL are wanting to force ( Bully) Derby into accepting a points deduction whilst we quite rightly say get stuffed. If the EFL had reason in black and white to impose a points deduction they would have done it and surely by now, if that points deduction came in we have the right to appeal it and so we should. It’s worth noting that Reading FC have completely blown a hole through P&S and should have a well laid out punishment but yet nothing has happened.
The Paranoid might believe that they want us to agree a points deduction before Reading get their lighter punishment and just say we agreed to ours.
whilst the likes of Stoke city may well have been getting rid of the unwanted they should have blown through P&S yet they down valued the whole squad and blamed Covid and appear to be getting away with that and I suspect an awful lot of other clubs in the championship are busy hiding bad news but consistent punishment is simply not going to be happening as we are the main target of the publicity whilst we haven’t actually been as bad as some others despite what sits on our so called crime sheet.
Anyway we continue to support our team and hope for the best.

I really like Stretton’s movement and if we can actually pass the ball to him he will do well - I was celebrating yesterday when I thought he scored and he was extremely unlucky not to

I agree, the fluidity and off the ball running up top has increased massively. I would be tempted to give Stretton a run of games. His movement and ability to get himself in the right position is meaning he’s getting chances in every game but he’s just not taking them, the goals will start to flow eventually I’m sure of it.

I actual think the injury to Kaz is helping us. We look a lot more mobile and fluid up front. We still need goals though, I cannot see where goals are coming from in this team. I’d love to be proved wrong though.

It’s the first time that Wayne has been consigned to the prospect of no more players coming in. I’m fully expecting a “go with what we’ve got” type interview next week after the deadline.

Waynes took a lot of stick from a coaching perspective since he started, from the media and fans especially. For me he’s starting to prove this season he may have what it takes to cut it. I’ve enjoyed our start to the season, we’re playing decent football again, there’s an actual style of play developing but the squad is threadbare. The lack of options off the bench is stopping us from turning the tide of games back in our favour. Unfortunately he’s being severely let down by the people at the top of the club, with a few more players we would easily achieve survival this season.

A devilish side of me would like Mel to re look at things in terms of paying the debts off, operating at a very low cost base that is sustainable whilst building the value of our very promising youngsters, in turn the side doing well and we actually make it to the play off by the next three seasons and be successful ( unlikely with clubs in receipt of parachute payments) where a buyer may well come in for the club at a decent amount.
if I was him I would consider it if feasible whilst I would absolutely take the EFL to a court of law if they impose sanctions against us based on things they agreed to and they signed of as ok that were simply perfectly legal, how the EFL could defend their actions would be very interesting and unsuccessful I imagine.

But there is no difference as far as the EFL regs are concerned. It basically says you must comply with FRS102 full stop.  Like I’ve said multiple times on here already, if the EFL want a different version of FRS102 then they should write it, publish it, enforce it and so on.  You can’t have the situation where they make up unwritten extra rules whenever they feel like it.

The issue is there aren't any "EFL regulations" about amortization.  There are accounting standards (FRS102) that the EFL regs say we must abide by, that's it.  We believed were abiding by them, our accountants did, the auditors of our accounts did, the accountant on the disciplinary commission thought we did too.  But here we are anyway...
In terms of why we did it, it may well be that we thought it would give us an edge by deferring some of the amortization until we were already promoted (Ahem...), but if you look at it from a purely football perspective, the model we tried to use does match real-life values a lot better.  Does anyone actually believe Ivan Toney is now 'worth' a fifth less than he was a year ago?  Or is it the case that he's got a bit of wear and tear after a year in the championship, but is basically worth pretty much what Brentford paid for him a year ago (or more...)?
There are obviously questions about how accurately you can model/calculate player values, and whether that lack of accuracy means you ultimately shouldn't bother.  But the basic facts are, we were at least trying to use a model that better reflects how we consume those assets.  It's not like we were doing some super-crazy accountancy nonsense that bears no relation to real life.

Yes that’s probably a factor, as well as Gibson trying to hit Mel where it hurts, in the pocket . If the EFl IS overplaying its hand there must be a point where Mel says: oK I won’t sell, I won’t agree a deal with you, I’ll take you on again in a disciplinary process and in the meantime hope Rooney can work wonders on the pitch.
