They have to justify to the clubs in the EFL who have to pay the legal costs of the EFL in all the next hearings that will have to take place - if they had us banged to rights on something real it would have been done because how could we actually argue? It’s interpretation pure and simple in my opinion and see you in the hearing.

Meanwhile watford FC continue to sell players at inflated prices to their sister club in Italy and in return receive players at reduced cost to meet their finances/ restrictions and have been doing so for years and have at least two promotions on the back of it.
oh look Nottingham forest do the same
meanwhile Wolves benefitted hugely from only loaning half of Portugal national team which no other team was allowed the same option to loan the same players.
I am not saying they should be punished because it’s a loophole close it or restrict it maybe.
the point I am making is that these are loopholes ( still open) but loop holes none the less and what we did was exploit  a loophole that might have Benefited us - it might not have but we currently don’t know that, but little else and what the EFL are doing is massively over the top spurred on by over zealous owners of other clubs and a consistent barrage of targeted negative press.

Agree - what I struggle with is all these comments saying I'd accept x points over 9-12......but for what?  Surely if we'd breached a clear rule then why all the delays?  If it were that clear the EFL would already have hit us with something.  The fact we haven't makes me think the EFL have very little over us that can legally justify a large points deduction, or any for that matter. The amount of points is moot to a degree if DCFC feel that strongly that no crime has been committed.  The EFL have been made to look complete numpties as a result of us being found not guilty, aside from, shock horror, poor communication about our accounts. Because we've made them look silly they are trying everything they can (in my opinion) to make us suffer until they feel they have retribution.  Smacks of spoilt child.
If they do sanction us with a justifiable points deduction, that is clearly backed by evidence of a breach of the rules, then we ought to have no choice but to accept it.  Right now, as painful as it is, I can understand why there is a delay as I suspect there is no clear breach and DCFC are rightly fighting it tooth and nail.

How do we know that Baldock and Stretton wont be an effective partnership? Especially if they are running the channels and moving defenders around creating room for the likes of Sibley and Lawrence

What is all of this about accepting a reduction?
    Reduction from what?
First of all they need to charge us with something, then us be found guilty and then a points deduction applied as set out in the rule book.
Only at that time is there anything to be appealed, up until that point we are guilty of nothing and should be treated as such.

The problem (well, one problem) we have is that with the EFL effectively trying to bully us into accepting a points penalty by withholding our right to operate under normal trading conditions is that if we accept it there won't be any recourse to an appeal to lessen the penalty at a later date.
If we accept their 'deal', we cannot appeal.
...but that just makes you wonder how little they actually have on us, if they're so convinced of our guilt then what's stopping them just applying a punishment and letting us appeal it? They'll win the appeal, surely, without any problems, we're bang to rights...?
It's being presented as them wanting to end this as quickly as we do, presented as them being 'reasonable' by entering into negotiations but is anyone actually buying that? Of course they're not being reasonable, they're trying to get as much from us as possible, a far higher punishment than is actually warranted by our actions, without their decision being scrutinised by a third party.
It's practically extortion - if they get away with this what else will they get away with in future?

It will be a sad day when we actually pay money for a player again.
hopefully we never need to buy from other championship clubs or Arsenal - they can find their own money

Forest are as boring as sin whilst Derby are there so they can discuss the next circus, WBA and Birmingham are the long ballers and Stoke will be very steady - I think it will be endless Fulham as they get 120 points because they kept a premiership squad with £80 million of parachute payments and don’t actually have to pay for Harry Wilson until they are in the premiership and they will be up against sides who are not allowed or able to sign any players especially for money. - rant over?

I really don't get what the EFL are all about here if they are looking for "retrospective action"?
In any sporting environment there are rules. I work in motorsport and if you can gain an advantage by "sailing close to the wind" (but NOT actually breaking any rules) that is exactly what you do. An example of this was Mercedes F1 having a trick to alter the front wheel geometry by pushing the steering wheel in or out (it allowed the car go faster on the straights). F1 simply changed the rules from the start of the new season, they didn't say Mercedes couldn't do it (or punish them for being clever).
The basic problem here is that the EFL are a bunch of amateurs and not fit for purpose, (which is a travesty given how much cash is floating about in professional football).

    Thought of the day
if we received twice what we paid for the transfers of the likes of Butterfield, Johnson, Anya, Blackman etc would the EFL still be asking us to redo the way we value our players?
    if not then why not?

We're really not talking about "loopholes" are we though? Certainly not in the sense of finding some gap in the law that the authorities didn't intend to be there.  The EFL rules say we have to comply with FRS102. Our accountants (and seemingly every other accountant that's looked at it properly) think we do comply.  We just happen to do things a little bit differently because (shocker, I know! ?) companies choose to organise their accounts in a way that suits the way they want to do business.  You can't have flexibility in the rules and then have a toddler-tantrum when not everyone produces exactly the same thing.  And let's be clear - that flexibility is there by design, because those rules cover a multitude of different business-types that do different things in different ways, so you'll never get a single uniform set of rules from something like FRS102.  So we're again back at the same thing I keep saying - if the EFL want accounts produced in a very strict and controlled way, they need to write the rules for it and publish them.  You can't have the situation where the EFL are enforcing rules that aren't written down.
