    Agreed.

That cost us last season and we could make do with what we have, but our lack of depth means that just one or two injuries will derail our season.

We are in a much stronger position for top 2 than last season, purely due to the quality of the opposition. If we don’t take this chance this season then we will just suffer more financially and there’s no guarantee we would be in a better position to get promoted next year instead.

I understand our budget may not be great, but we have to add quality or we risk just getting left behind.

Smart additions in January also help set us up for the summer if we do go up. There’s a thread about what we’d need to get mid table in the Championship. If we go with what we have and it is enough, then that’s a hell of a lot of work to do again in the summer.

The same goes for the other clubs trying to get promoted - lose a key player and it’s difficult to replace them.

Players to keep for next season :

    Wildsmith Vickers

    Nyambe Wilson

    Nelson Cashin Rooney

    Bird Thompson Robinson

    NML Collins

    Off Load

Loach, Fozzy, Elder, Bradley, Fornah, Hourihane, Sibley, Barks, JJ, Waggy, Washington.

So 50% turnover some will attract modest fees others not.

Rather early to say who we keep and let leave because we would need to know which league we are in - that said I expect loach,Hourahan, JJ and Waggy not to be here regardless and personally I would be looking at moving on Bradley Fornah and Washington but we would struggle to get rid of them because of the contracts we gave them and their limited quality

Warne said (Bradford post match) we're close to getting two in at the top end of the pitch who we'd be buying to start, not to be squad players.

You would hope that all signings that were recruited to be starting and not just squad players - anyway that sounds like he is deflecting the abysmal performance tonight

Given that he may actually be able to spend some fees as opposed to bargain basement freebies you mean?

We do have to pay substantial amounts for some of those Warne has signed if we gain promotion etc - who knows what he thinks is good value as it’s not easy in the third division and we will not be getting perfection by any means

Would it be fair to say that is pretty much Warne’s team - full of his signings? Vickers, Elder, Bradley, Ward, Fornah, Wilson, Nelson, TJJ etc. Only Nyambe didn’t play? I can’t recall really but it’s a little bit of a worry for me because only Nelson and Nyambe, and Wilson at times, look any good. I am a little underwhelmed with his signings so it feels a bit like the pressure is on, in terms of January signings.

Anyway. I didn’t care about this cup and didn’t go so I can’t really grumble about what was seemingly a half-arsedperformance.

Are you happy to see Warne sign more in January based on the likes of Fornah, Bradley, Ward, Washington

The really worrying thing to me is that we did supposedly strengthen in the last window… Bradley, Ward, Fornah… er….:😳

The two best signings- Nyambe and Wilson - seemed to fall into our laps almost by accident…

You can add Waghorn to that who has won us a lot of points early on.

You make a great point and probably need a new thread to asses Warne’s signings so far because you are right as Wilson has promise but Bristol wanted to move him on and Nyambe had no club but can actually defend and he knows what he is doing.

Even a free transfer was too expensive for Joe Ward

Let’s not be silly shall we - decent enough going forward to cross but poor at defending. He can’t cross to a big centre forward because we don’t have one. You can tell he knows he’s not a starter and he knows he is third choice

Fornah - think Warne needs to get rid! Started season with promise, but he’s looked worse as the season has progressed

Well he’s an improvement on - nobody - doesn’t run around a lot - doesn’t tackle, doesn’t win headers, not looked likely to ever score a goal and worse of all he looks half hearted

I think Tompson coming on following a bad hamstring injury in the last two league games kind of tells you that the manager isn’t impressed with Fornah’s contribution

    Which isn't true though.

I have been involved with at least two instances of employees carrying on their normal duties without predujice pending their court cases - both instances were serious allegations, in one case the person was jailed but their job was kept open for them after they returned from their prison sentence.

The workforce was also warned about making any sort of comments to the person on their return as it would be deemed as harassment which is gross misconduct.

This is all in the "real" employment world which football clubs seem to be exempt from.

I too have been involved with people who were facing potential serious criminal proceedings who were suspended from duty until criminal investigations were completed either way.
