No great surprise at the result tonight
we play a one dimensional type of football and when we can’t break through that’s us done for
the basic tactic of get it wide quickly cross it and hope someone is there to maybe score is fine and when we do it’s get the extra centre half on and hope to keep the lead and maybe break away and get another goal - the limitations are there to see. Yes we are missing our best left and right back and a Waghorn type who can actually play a bit of football. Folks moan about our two in midfield but on their own they are overwhelmed defensively so trying to be creative is really a non starter but our game plan doesn’t involve us having a creative midfield

We can’t go playing silly billy with money anymore - if they turn us down then we should walk away and wish them all the best next season and hopefully they don’t get points deducted for over spending 👍
-
Keep a clean sheet and hope the ball bounces kindly for us in the Reading box and hopefully of a tennis ball

If u are a bit depressed about our performance today then go on the Bolton forums- they are almost suicidal ! 😎
Bound to cheer u up 👍😄
Lost to Orient who haven’t conceded a goal for five games, impressive

Would easily have helped us probably get promoted last season on a short term loan
clearly finding third division defenders out this season and as a bonus he can do everything apart from run around a lot in the wrong places
-
Time for us to keep a clean sheet please - even if we are missing our two full backs !
-
Hmm, losing money is losing money especially when you are paying the Bills

Barkhuizen hopefully.
Obviously if he stinks the joint out and isn't better than Barkz then questions should be asked.
That would make Warne sense as Barkhauzen has been scoring and assisting

Is he any better than what we already have?

Would be a bold gamble to think he's going to play enough to go and watch. He played 27 mins in the first game, but in the 11 appearances this season, he averages under 14mins a game.
14 mins a game - that’s similar to a lot of Warne’s signings 😉

TBH, whoever at the club thinks that is a tenable excuse needs banning from football, for exactly the reason you state.
I do remember allot of their fans screaming that we should be accepting any old bid for our players in order to meet our obligations, so they surely can't be supporting the club's argument or that would be very hypocritical. £35m wasn't a p-take offer and they knew they needed the sale to meet FFP.
Would have been very interesting if Johnston had said he wasn’t going to Spurs and he was waiting for a free transfer

It benefits us that Bolton and Posh are playing each other on the last day of the season. One or both of them will be dropping points
It suited us that Barnsley were at home to Peterborough last season in the last game but Barnsley rested plenty and didn’t want us in the play offs and the rest is history

Wildsmith
Wilson Nelson Cashin Elder
Bird Hourihane Thompson
Barkhuizen Collins Mendez-Laing
Subs: Vickers, Bradley, Ward, Sibley, DRobinson, DBrown, John-JulesVickers hasn't done enough to prove why he should be in the team ahead of Wildsmith.
Elder needs to build on his first start.
Out current version of 442 lacks balance, hence a change to 433. If Forsyth was fit, I would be starting Sibley at AM. However, he'll be needed at LB to finish the game so a place on the bench it is.When we get Smith from Sheffield Wednesday it will be Vickers nearly all the time because he kicks it longer than Wildsmith and that’s where our game plan will sit - it might work as well, midfield will be a chore though
-
Do we really want a lad who helped getting Forest Green relegated ( they were awful) and can’t get a game Reading
-
Let’s be honest if all of this was done at the same time to the whole league
wolves would be champions with Crystal Palace second and Luton and Sheffield United in Europe
-
So it seems that the red dogs want to change the accounting year - how very Sheffield Wednesday of them
They also think that waiting to sell one player to gain potentially more money should help them while ignoring the other 43 that they signed for what was it £300 million is fine and dandy whilst never considering playing them, Hmm 🤔
-
That’s good news for the forest owner - he won’t have to pay survival bonuses to go along with all the other things they haven’t paid yet like agents fees - which should be in the accounting /yes/no ? Or have they not included them as they haven’t paid them to hide another 4-5 million pounds of overspend
-
Should been comfortable last night but two very poor bits of defending cost us goals which were very well taken by Burton
we do have a tendency to totally disappear for periods of games but we got the vital 3 points in the end - just
-
We do make things exceptionally difficult don’t we
Forsyth looks a better player every week doesn’t he

Oh dear, remember all the comments about our club from the ill informed and vastly made up red dogs
-
One in two with 9 goals is a terrific return - I still think a short loan signing last season would have had us promoted

Done well for us when he's played, IMO.
He has actually and surprisingly to me but it is the third division

What goes around comes around then 👍

Without diving into actual home and away form for all the teams, it looks like the best hope for today is damage limitation as none of our rivals seem to have too hard a game.
Maybe Charlton can do us a favour and beat Peterborough. We'd then move up to third without even playing. 🤞
It’s January and how other teams do is fairly irrelevant until we know the strength of teams after the window shuts
No midfield control again…

We don’t set up to use midfield constructively so it’s not the fault of of those selected
