DavesaRam reacted to vonwright in Jozwiak
Thought he was brilliant today. Took up great positions, made theatening runs, took people on, fast direct passing. Did a real shift in defence, too, and saved us a goal. And while others jogged about and scowled at each other and looked like they thought they were too good to have to try, and hard-done-by by the universe, he played like a pro.
You can say 'yeah he does all that but no end product'. But come on: if the likes of Lawrence and Waghorn (and even CKR) did their main jobs as well as he did his, we'd have won today. You can't blame him for not doing _everything_ when some others don't seem to be doing _anything_

I've heard that the EFL are working on changing the rules if we stay up (we will!) and there will be automatic points deduction based on arrangement of letters in a clubs name. Any club whose letters are arranged D - E - R - B - Y will get a 24 points deduction! This season too! #youhearditherefirst

I don’t think we have magic beans, just a few cans of baked beans that have been open for a few days and going mouldy.

Stop setting the team up to not lose. Press and harry the opposition. Set the team up to attack the opposition. Play to our strengths, not to nullify the opposition. Keep the fans involved.

This may already be in the pipeline, or it might be too late for them to anything about, but, a subtle nod to the team and management that won our first League title next year which will be the 50th anniversary. A retro away kit perhaps ? Covid allowing, and fans in the ground, surviving players invited to a match where fans can show their appreciation of their achievement ?
I know some might say I’m as bad as Notts fans for living in the past, but it was a monumental achievement in our history and I think it would be a shame for it to go unrecognised.

Sharing of marriage...
The old man placed an order for one hamburger, French fries and a drink.
He unwrapped the plain hamburger and carefully cut it in half, placing one half in front of his wife.
He then carefully counted out the French fries, dividing them into two piles and neatly placed one pile in front of his wife.
He took a sip of the drink, his wife took a sip and then set the cup down between them . As he began to eat his few bites of hamburger, the people around them were looking over and whispering.
Obviously they were thinking, 'That poor old couple - all they can afford is one meal for the two of them.'
As the man began to eat his fries a young man came to the table and politely offered to buy another meal for the old couple. The old man said, they were just fine - they were used to sharing everything
People closer to the table noticed the little old lady hadn't eaten a bite. She sat there watching her husband eat and occasionally taking turns sipping the drink.
Again, the young man came over and begged them to let him buy another meal for them.
This time the old woman said 'No, thank you, we are used to sharing everything.'
Finally, as the old man finished and was wiping his face neatly with the napkin, the young man again came over to the little old lady who had yet to eat a single bite of food and asked 'What is it you are waiting for?'
She answered --

I think a lot of Owls fans have got things muddled up recently, re this Alonso fella...
What he actually said was "I want to buy a football club ON A WEDNESDAY..."

DavesaRam got a reaction from Deej in Louie Sibley
You got that right. His best position at the moment is on the bench, or even better sat at home.
Incidentally, maybe Sibley hasn't produced of his best in the milliseconds he is given because he too is not in his best position, but stuck out on the wing.

DavesaRam reacted to vonwright in Louie Sibley
There is a hint of holding Sibley to different standards in all this, ie 'I think you can be brilliant so I'm not going to pick you until you play brilliantly all the time'. I think if you do this you can easily end up with a resentful player. A sub-standard Sibley would probably still contribute more than Waghorn and maybe it's a lack of confidence caused by not being picked which is causing the problem in the first place.

So why not just have a word with him in private, given he has unfettered access? Why not qualify his comment by making it clear that it's not just SIbley under-performing. Why not give Sibley the run of games the likes of Waghon have been afforded to see if with games he does 'do better'? It's the inconsistency and lack of loyalty that has annoyed people.
Given Wazza is meant to have gleaned some lessons from his time under Ferguson, you'd think he'd have learned that you defend your players as individuals to the hilt in public and if they need the hairdryer treatment, it's done in private. Publicly shaming your players, even when you're 100% correct, is the fastest way to lose a dressing room and frankly, it just smacks of desperation.

OI! Leave Waghorn out of this - we ar talking about players who can play and trouble the opposition.

One of Cocu's few positives when he was here was that he definitely improved the academy players. I don't think it's a coincidence that since he's left , Sibley and Bird have struggled. You could say Knight's form has possibly slipped a bit recently. Having said that, I don't know how Waghorn is starting over Sibley. Waghorn's offered almost nothing in recent weeks apart from the occasional set piece.

DavesaRam reacted to Andicis in Louie Sibley
He does dive into challenges, and he is over eager. But you know what? He actually has attacking instincts, he wants to go forward. He wants to score goals. That is *exactly* the kind of player we need in the team right now. I don't care if he isn't perfectly disciplined defensively.

DavesaRam reacted to Parsnip in Louie Sibley
If we were any other team, off the back of that Millwall hat-trick I'd have said put him in as #10 and build the team around him.
But this is Derby. So like we did with Will Hughes he needs converting to a defensive midfielder. In fact I'd put him in at DM alongside Louie Watson - tell them both to sit and hold and try and get some clean sheets. I reckon that should give them both the right message and @RamNut can stop putting his childish "forward" arrows in front of players on his team sheets.
These lads can save their "creativity" for when they get a move. Just like Will did.

It is interesting that we only really threatened Forest for the last 10 minutes or so, i.e. after Sibley had come on, and, curiously, after Waghorn had gone off. One wonders if we had started the match the way we finished it what scoreline we could have achieved? For me, there has been a lot of talk about there not being room in this team for Sibley. Well actually, there is. It is the place occupied by Waghorn. ? And no, we shouldn't be keeping Waggy in for his free kicks, because they have been poor for several matches. And his last corner hit the side netting at a height of about 2 feet. Time to make way for the Sibbers!
