I think Rooney was left embarrassed by all this and it was a major factor in him exiting stage left. He'd have the media all over him if he had stayed and all this came out.

The first 10 pages of this topic are full of "Chris this", "Chris that".  In the following 17 pages, since the first week in May, there's not a single post that refers to him as Chris.  It's all CK or Kirchner.
    Hardly surprising. Shyster.

No, fair point. Fans are by default emotionally invested and therefore less able to provide an objective view, most were just relieved that the club appeared to be saved. Most fans would only have been able to access the external image CK et al wanted to present and put faith in admins and regulators to do the necessary due diligence.
I don't think regulators have sufficient teeth and the EFL isn't fit for purpose at this point in my view.
It's obviously highly complex, I just think there has to be a better way.

Amazing. There's a few players who've scored against us over the last few years who have gone on to play higher up. Andre Gray, Dwight Gayle etc. Definitely weird the Lee Gregory connection.
I don't live in Guiseley anymore. I live in Farsley. My parents have just moved from Guiseley to Baildon too. Guessing you still live in G town?

Alright Rams, Guiseley (who?) fan here in peace.
I came to the Oxford game on Saturday with my mate (Wolves fan).
It was our first trip to Pride Park between us and usually we pick a random game every so often. So we ended up at your place.
We had a great time, your stadium is fantastic. Plenty of eateries around the ground too. The fans we were sat near were passionate and it was infectious. We were in the North Stand which was family orientated but it was nice to see so many youngsters getting behind the team.
The atmosphere was great, the bounce by the south stand was something I won't forget. Capped with a great goal to get the win aswell.
Only downside being, we parked at the industrial park past the south stand and we didn't move for about an hour after the final whistle. But that didn't spoil a great day out.
All the best for the season, will be looking out for your results and will likely come back later in the season too.

He's the one player from our academy that I couldn't handle leaving, so I'm glad he looks to be sticking around. I want to see him in a Derby shirt at age 27. I think he'll be a revelation

The problem I have with that is it is so easy to register an account with a local rival, get tickets for a few games, cause havoc, get banned and walk away leaving the club facing the consequences.
Look at those Birmingham idiots - they caused trouble at our ground last season, but we were made to pay for it with reduced capacities.

I was discussing a point you made, and indeed largely agreeing with you. At the same time I sought to reinforce the basic need for personal responsibilities. You chose to misinterpret it, take offence, decide it was directed at you and suggest I wasn’t nice. I wasn’t giving YOU life advice I was talking about the supposed miscreants that we were both discussing. Your problem, not mine but you really need to think before you shoot. .. and that IS life advice.

It’s a conversation. I am sorry your ego is so brittle. I wasn’t referring to you .. I was discussing a point you raised. Throwing a hat in the ring, chewing the cud. I think you need to chill out a bit and perhaps re read what I said.

Well we’ll have to disagree then. Issuing a message of the potential consequences, should you be thinking about committing an offence, is absolutely ethical IMO. Also, it’s not just “a message to others”. The perpetrators of the crime themselves would/should be aware before they transgress.

With regard to “hardened authoritarianism”, I did say a lifetime ban would need to be dependent on the severity of the offence (it will take people with bigger brains than me to work that one out) and I really don’t think banning someone for life from football grounds is the thin end of the wedge you seem to fear.

It’s a clear warning of the consequences you might face if you breach the rule rather than a scare tactic. I certainly do approve.
Do you not think that some folk might think twice before committing the offence if the consequences were made clear in advance? Surely that’s got to be a good thing.
Luckily, I have never suffered, and remarkable there seems to be very few actual injuries, but if prior notification prevents just one person from committing the more serious and dangerous offence (letting off pyrotechnics or ripping out and lobbing chairs for example) then I’m all for it. I accept the difficulty is where do you draw the line for imposing a lifetime ban?

Spot on. Football is a release-valve for many of us. It serves a psychological function. It ties us in to a place, and to a group. It is “tribal”. It gives us identity and belonging in an increasingly de-personalising world. Being at a football match serves a large number needs within us.
There is a real danger that “the authorities” will cut the cloth too narrowly and the experience will be reduced. Common sense needs to prevail.
interestingly I read a piece the other day by Frank Skinner the tv comedian who now openly admits that his and Baddiel’s scapegoating of Jason Lee was nothing short of bullying and plain wrong. It was 30 years ago but confirmation that values and thresholds of acceptability change. The line though still has to be drawn very carefully and football fans themselves should be consulted carefully where that line exists.

Security, stewards and Police know the games which have higher risk of pyros, they take a decision not to search. Its all too much hassle to actually do summat nowadays. Thats why they make new laws, instead of enforcing current ones, to make them look like they're doing summat.
Notts police have known for years that the residents of that stand above the away end will throw things at the fans below them but someone, I presume the match day commander, has taken the decision to allow it. New rules or laws won't stop it, throwing people out and arresting them will.

Like I said, WSC was a poll of fans from all other clubs in our division. Not sure about FourFourTwo.
Not unreasonably most fans will base predictions on previous performance as most squads will be 80%-90% the same as the season before. Clearly that metric doesnt apply to Derby & we also don't know at what point during our recent recruitment drive they made the call as @RamuelLJackson rightly points out. Irrespective of the quality we bring in, there will also be a bedding in period...Ipswich's struggles (finishing 11th, 9th & 11th in last 3 years) may also have swayed opinions.
I'm very happy with media predicting us to finish 12th. I'd be more concerned if consensus was we'd be top two. Let's stay under the radar & watch Wendies & Ipswich try to handle the pressure. Or not as @walkleyowl probably thinks

The crux of our situation is absolutely based upon our midfield breaking the press. That means being comfortable in recieving the right ball out of defence and turning or playing accurate quick passing through the lines. Not trying to single him out but the biggist culpret for NOT getting it right is young Thompson who seems to have reverrted to pinging it staraight back where it came from. That has its place if absolutely necessary to retain posession but it really should be last resort. If hes not comfortable looking after the ball hes got a problem.

No chance IMO but there's no shame in that, it's why we had so many hopes attached to, and struggled so much to replace, George Thorne.
We had a system where the CBs could focus almost entirely on their forward play because the DM was so, so good at his job. Eustace wasn't the complete player of course but he was surrounded by a lot of quality.
We tried other players there for years but none could fully fulfill the responsibilities of the role until Bielik came along.
Bird is a fine, fine player but even he can't replicate the full range of abilities provided by past inhabitants so we can't really expect it from anyone else at this level.

Tactically and style wise it's more of an evolution than a complete change. We still intend on building out from the back, getting on the ball and looking to have a good share of possession. Style wise it will more or less stay the same with some tactical shifts.
Last season we primarily played a 4231 where both full backs pushed up high and wide, the 2 DMs mostly sat and acted as a double pivot and the attacking 3 came narrow infield. This was mostly to get the best out of Lawrence and perhaps Morrison in my opinion.
This season the overarching plan seems to be no matter the starting formation or our defensive shape we want to shape up as 2-3-2-3 on the ball. With the lines being; centre backs, deep midfield, attacking midfield, forwards (with the two wide players here very split).
So far we've had varying degrees of success which has mostly be down to personal available. (I'll focus mostly on the first halves of games).
Hertha Berlin was the game it inarguably was the most effective. More or less looking like
           Chester Davies
      Knight    Bird    Roberts
        Hourihane McGoldrick
    NML         Collins         Barkhuizen
This illustrates the plan well. The plan is for that 3 of Knight, Bird and Roberts being the start of play really getting it out of the centre backs as quick as we can. They can either play forwards into the half spaces to McGoldrick or Hourihane or wide to the wingers hugging the touchline or straight into Collins. Bird is critical here because of his ability to keep possession under pressure and break the lines.
McGoldrick (so far) has been the second key. It's really important that those more advanced midfielders actively look to find space and get on the ball, which he is excellent at it in a way that's perhaps missing a little in the squad on the whole.
When it hasn't worked its been entirely down to the balance of the deep and attacking midfield not working. The best example being against Stevenage where we more looked something like (it's a little fuzzier)
            Davies Cashin
    Oduruh Hourihane Thompson
              Knight     Sibley
    NML           Collins       Forsyth
See the issue here is there is a lot more shifting from start position mostly to accommodate that left side as well as people not being suited to playing in certain places. Hourihane looked uncomfortable that deep, Thompson looked crowded on the left and couldn't use his knack for getting into space for little pop passes. Neither Knight or Sibley are particularly great at linking play. And an aging Fozzy has to move from left back to a very advanced position to provide width and get him out of the way of the build up play.
The positives are I think if we have the 11 that played Berlin available it will be really effective but we really need to think about what we do without McGoldrick. And weirdly if Bird gets injured (and bielik isn't fit) I think it's going to be severely hampered as a system.
So going into Oxford what do we do ?
Here is what we can probably guess
         Chester*  Davies
        ?          Bird     Roberts
       Hourihane/?   ?/Hourihane
      NML      Collins   Barkhuizen
So the question is who comes into one of those "advanced" positions. Personally I'd be picking between Thompson and Knight I think. Both are energetic which I think is needed; Thompson is excellent at getting into space and is the better of the two at linking things together whereas Knight probably carries more goal threat, can carry the ball and has that knack of getting free kicks. Either way I'd do it with a base formation of a 433. Then Knight at RB if not in midfield or else Oduruh/Smith.
*Personally would swap for Cashin to have a left footer and I think Cashin might be better on the ball.

Our experience at the back should enable us to play out pretty safely once the players get to know each other  - so far it looks like the GK might be the least effective. As for our own press, we used a high press well last season but only for a game or two  (Plange, Knight and Tommo were the most effective I think). But most of last season involved a lot of wasted energy as players raced around in an uncoordinated, headless chicken half press which rarely troubled anyone.
Havent watched much div 1 football for a long time but I’d think few teams will manage a good, coordinated press against us. And that if we can organise one well - in midfield or high - it will cause chaos. But I think it’s hard to do especially if you’ve got a few senior citizens on the pitch
