nottingram got a reaction from RadioactiveWaste in Liam Rosenior
Derby’s open play xG per shot of 0.09, 8th best in the league.
Ipswich 0.077 (13th best), Sheff W 0.094 (5th), Bolton 0.084 (9th), Portsmouth 0.0904 (7th), Plymouth 0.065 (21st).
Highest open play xG per shot in the league is Burton with 0.116 but we all know about their defensive record on the flip side of that. Cheltenham 2nd but also conceding a fair few.
All the above open play only. Our set play xG per shot is broadly in line with Ipswich, Plymouth and a fair bit better than Sheff W.
I guess no teams in the league are “set up to create good chances.”
Source for all the above is https://theanalyst.com/eu/2022/08/league-one-stats-2022-23/
Its not a great statistic, can tell it’s own truth or lies just like most can. But it is also not clouded by any sort of bias which can not be said for you or I or anyone here.

If we are going off managers who got promoted from the Chanpionship in Mick McCarthy’s era, I would prefer Owen Coyle, Ian Holloway or Phil Brown.

Max Bird has played in a 2 in pretty much his whole career so far.
At the moment it looks like Max Bird will ruin himself by needing 10 minutes every time he gets the ball. I rate him highly but he needs to wise up a little bit, I’m sure he will as he’s a very intelligent footballer but the transition to a lower level has not been kind to him so far.

Russell Martin seems to have an amazing reputation for someone who has so far achieved absolutely zilch. Aside from his MK Dons team improving when he left.

I wouldn’t mind it being cancelled if I truly believed it was out of respect and not out of fear of being seen as disrespectful.

Yes I had a feeling it was a political point you were trying to make but didn’t want to assume.
Despite your warning this thread could turn political, you seem the only one making any political points, repeatedly. Can’t say I have much interest in engaging in that so shall leave you to it.

But on the subject of Trevor Sinclair, what does “cancelling” him actually mean?
Is it Talksport no longer having him on their channel? Surely that is their right if he has said something that doesn’t align with their values? If I tweeted something abhorrent and my account was linked to my workplace in some way have I been cancelled if I am hauled into a disciplinary first thing on Monday morning? No obviously not, I’ve said something ridiculous and faced the consequences
Its why I don’t quite understand complaints about “cancel culture”. If cancel culture is people facing the consequences of their actions then what is the problem?
I don’t think anyone is saying he doesn’t have the right to an opinion. Course he does, everyone does. But if that opinion is problematic in some way then his employers have the right to get rid of him as well. It works both ways.

nottingram got a reaction from JoetheRam in The coronabrexit thread. I mean, coronavirus thread
Perhaps the younger generation of workers prefer it at home where they don’t have to listen to people, unable to keep up with the way of the world, droning on about “wokists” because they don’t read the Daily Mail.
Or maybe they quite like having an extra couple of hours a day back not commuting, agency of their own work, better work life balance, spending time with pets or loved ones, increased productivity and simply, the trust of their colleagues to get their own work done.
Could be either. It’s the latter for me, lucky enough not to work with any of the former.

Imagine a Leeds, Forest, Leicester relegation.
Getting giddy just at the thought of it

End of they day, you don’t spend £150m to finish 17th no matter how many times their fans try to tell people they needed to sign two new 11’s. He’ll be getting twitchy already.
I read an Athletic article that said Marinakis was aiming for top 6 but his expectations had to be tempered by others at the club. Wouldn’t recommend reading it though, it was a Daniel Taylor article so took me forever to wade past the misty eyed b******* about history and about how Jesse Lingard is ‘only’ on £110k a week plus bonuses and how great it is that Marinakis is letting his son (who has never worked in football before) deal with transfers.
