nottingram got a reaction from LeedsCityRam in Is Clowes Blameless?
It just seems like common sense to have a DOF really. A CEO is inevitably going to be very good at off field stuff (and I really like what we’re doing off field) but it is ultimately quite unlikely they will be an expert in football matters. Surely it just seems obvious to have an overarching CEO type role related to on field matters too? Director of Football, Technical Director, whatever you want to call it.

Is there a single player in the 11 who looks as good as you would expect? Ward and Forsyth?
If at least 80% of your team look worse than they should it is probably not worth picking at individuals and consider what else is going on

I like Cashin but ultimately if you are a 5’11 or 6’0 CB you need to either be exceptional across the ground or exceptional with the ball.
At the moment he is neither although has a promising passing range.
We shouldn’t really be dismissing bids for anyone who only has a year left, no matter who it is. That is not the sign of sensible transfer policy. Bit surprised Brighton are linked because I doubt his ceiling is as high as where they are now but ultimately they can probably give him a 5 year deal and loan him out for a decent fee each year.

With Rosenior you could only really see that we were going to get better. Tricky style to learn, funky full back positions, more suitable centre backs etc etc etc
With Warne it just seems like we’re getting worse

In fairness to our back 3 I think their performances would improve immeasurably if they had literally anyone at all to pass to. As it is the only CM we have who is capable of taking the ball under some pressure is fannying around as a number 10 alongside a winger who can only run in straight lines
Could stick Ruben Dias back there atm and he would look dog muck

I suspect it’s because it’s real life we’re operating in, and not Football Manager

I do largely agree and think the idea of a wholescale rebuild is good.
However almost every decision around on field matters has been horribly short term. If we don’t go up this year the playing squad will have 0 saleable assets. There’s £3-£4m worth of young players out of contract in a year who we seem to have no thought or intention of selling. In three windows we’ve signed one player with resale potential and that’s only on a 2 year deal. Of course there’s pressure when every decision seems to be centred on promotion ASAP
So to me the on field stuff just doesn’t mesh with the off field stuff. Not really Warne’s fault I guess, more of a general rant, albeit I do think we are probably a bit too “all in” on him.
