Could we see it in the flesh vs Carlisle I wonder? When was the last time we wore next seasons shirt on the last day? 😂

I doubt Umbro would allow that to happen, they’ll be trying to clear as much stock as possible before they go.

The club have a retro shirt from the 2001-03 era on sale.  It’s on display in the shop window.  That was made by errea but it doesn’t have the manufactures logo on so maybe it’s self produced.  It would be good if they did the sand for some of the old Puma kits.

    I loved the Errea shirts.

  3. Assuming that Ward is fit then we must go with the same team, we’ll have a lot more possession v Wycombe and I think we’ll take advantage of a post-Wembley side with nothing left to play for.

And I hope that our fans remind their Chairman what we think about him!

  4. Hopefully we get some gigs at Pride Park soon. Zach Parker was due to fight there until his opponent suffered an injury and Sandy Ryan is certainly in line to box there in a unification fight.

I saw Frankie Boyle at Derby Arena the other week, that’s a pretty good set up.

Nonsense of course he can. He's got the most ability on the ball and best touch of anyone in the club. I'd love to see him in that position

Exactly. With his quick feet I think he’s a good fit for the number 10 role, certainly better than the Thompson experiment.

Hi Rams, I commented on the reverse fixture when you battered us earlier in the season so thought I would do the same just to give some context from the other side.

A very different game to the one at Pride Park earlier in the season. The San Sixfields pitch is much smaller which definitely helps us, particularly against the big boys in the division. We have taken a pasting of pretty much all of the teams at the top of the table away from home this season, whilst at home managed mostly narrow defeats instead.

No doubt that you should have scored at least one of the two chances in the first half, or at the very least worked the keeper, one of them goes in and you dont lose the game without a shadow of a doubt. The game earlier in the season you were picking holes in between our midfield and defense with ease, also NML pace was a constant threat. However in this game were clearly more compact and outside of those opportunities it didn't feel like you created a huge amount of clear cut chances. It was noticeable that you were much more direct this game for whatever reason, which I am far more confident of us deadling with. I know you have a number of bodies out, but we have 10 out (mostly in defence) so the injury list was similar on both sides.

I thought the goal was a really well taken finish, definite foul in the build up but the defending after that would be pretty poor. Your full back (Wilson I think) also definitely handled it in the second half with no one around him.

I sit in the end where Bradley got his red, he definitely put his head in. Don't get me wrong i dont think Monthe is going to require a trip to the hospital but unfortunately you have to go down to almost bring it to attention. Thought it was poor from a guy who is that experienced and was seemingly always looking for physicality in the game. Yes we tried to slow down the game, no doubt about it. If i was an away fan I would be furious and hope the ref would stop it. But to add some context our season has been petering out to a degree with mid table safety and clearly our manager has given them a rocket pointing out there are still points to play for, there was not a lack of effort on our point despite little to play for seemingly. To be honest we are doing about as well as a club our size could be expected to do, as we were on of the favorites for the drop.

I hope you go up, clearly a huge club that should not be at this level (plus dont want Peterborough to go up). I am guessing there is a big split in the fanbase over the manager, that was evident by the booing of one of the substitutions which you don't expect from a team that are fighting for the title. As a completely neutral observer Warne to me sits in the Gareth Ainsworth esque category of managers. Likeable character and personable, but with limitations at a higher level and in developing a more free flowing style, it dosnt seem like the best fit. Playing Pompey and Peterborough recently (both away so different challenges I guess) but they seemed much more composed in their style of play and just seemed to have more ways to hurt us.

Hopefully your injury woes ease up a little and all the best for the rest of the season.

That’s a great assessment of the game and your lads fully deserved the win.

I’m glad that an outside observer can also see how tactically inept our Coach is, the football on the whole this season has been dreadful and apparently we’re not allowed to criticise him due to our league position.

Good luck for the rest of the season… hopefully we don’t see you next season.

Sibleys not done much wrong, Should be played further up though, probably as that 10 seeing as we have no forwards who can shoot on target or avoid offsides now.

He’s gotten better at LWB agreed but he’s not good enough upfront, certainly when CBT has come in for a decent fee and had very good statistics for Charlton earlier this season.

Warne’s problem in my opinion is that he never seems to get the midfield right, how on earth did he think that Thompson could play as a deep lying number 10 when he’s basically just an ankle biter.

  8. The players were poor, some of them had stage fright? NML has been run into the ground by the looks of it.

Two great chances missed in the first half, that would’ve obviously changed the game.

Warne: Again found out tactically, waited until the 60th minute to change it after we could’ve been 2-0 down.

Thompson playing as a 10 when CBT is on the bench?

Its time to stop playing Sibley with Elder fit, he’s not good enough.

Hourihane is a difficult one, he has the experience and is generally good at set pieces but his legs have gone and I don’t think he’s suited to away games.

Blackpool and Pompey will show us what Warne is made of, injuries or not there’s still some quality at his disposal.

Barnsley fan in peace here. I must say from browsing this forum, the Pompey forum and the Bolton forum. It is a little surprising how the general consensus is that this is a three horse race.

Win our game in hand and we are level on points. We’ve also got Bolton to play at home.

We’ve had a pretty strange season having to deal with a lot of upheaval in the summer and it feels to me like we’re only now starting to go through the gears. I think we will probably also benefit from experience of last season going into this run in.

I’m quite happy for us to fly under the radar, but don’t be surprised if we finish strongly.

should be an exciting few months in any event!

It wasn’t exactly a game high on quality (mainly from us) but Barnsley looked bright in parts and were the better side in midfield. I’m certainly not ruling you out, I think Pompey will win the league so that leaves one from three and I’m not confident we’ll be that one tbh.

  10. Wildsmith

    Nyambe Nelson Cashin Sibley

    Smith Adams Bird

    NML Waghorn Barkhuisen

We never seem to start quickly at home so a more attacking formation is a must, especially against a side full of confidence since Jones took over.
CBT will come off the bench, hopefully it won’t be long until he starts.

  11. Well that is a brilliant fight back to beat a promotion rival at their ground.

Their goals were obviously poor decisions by our players, we can’t afford to do that on Monday.

Whats pleasing me is that we seem to be playing like a team on a mission now, hopefully we can get a couple of new faces in to help maintain the momentum.

A surefire sign that we’re going up when Liam Thompson scores a header 😂

Hopefully the lads can raise their game one more time on Monday before Warne thinks about rotating the key players a little.
