I wondered how long he'd last after David posted this back in March
Nicholson always seemed utterly embarrassed about the style of clickbait journalism he was being forced to peddle

This season was a weird one, coming out of the pandemic + the administration/uncertainty made it harder to fill the ground
That said - I don't think we can assume we will fill the ground in L1, unless we get off to a flyer and are thumping teams left right and centre, new investment, exciting new players etc
Attendances in the 3rd tier back in the 1980s dropped pretty low
Our first season we finished 7th and our average attendance was just under 11k. Highest was 16k and lowest was 8k
Even the following season when we finished 3rd and got promoted - our average attendance was 12k (highest 21k and lowest 9.5k)
I doubt we'll drop attendances that low, but the cost of living crisis won't be our friend in that respect either.
I think 20k next season will be considered a decent crowd

In fairness, you have to see that in the context of attendances at that time, that average put us above 4 of the top division clubs, those mighty clubs Villa and Forest averaged 15 and 16k respectively. In today's terms, that would have us over 30k which is very unlikely but still.....

11-12K in the third division was a very good attendance in the 1980s. Take a look at average attendances in the old first division. I seem to remember even clubs like Villa were struggling to get 16,000 on occasion.  Football was not fashionable then and hooliganism put many people off attending, so our crowds were probably equivalent to about 20k in today's money.

And why hasn't he removed those godforsaken ads from all over the website yet?
    Absolutely shocking journalism ?

Got an 11 year old nephew who likes playing Apex Legends and these other battle royale style games who kept going on about 'teabagging' people he'd killed.
Now to him, that's purely something that people do in these games. Stand over the opponent and crouch down. "It's just like doing a little dance" he says, totally oblivious (thankfully) to the origins of the term.

Vardy's texts (that didn't fall in the sea) have been released. It's truly amazing to see her take someone to court because she's unhappy that Coleen made her look bad, and then have the court case make her look even worse. She really is making her own bed here

This is only tangentially related, but I was wondering about kids of today having this sort of conversation in the future
My 12 year old is always telling me new words/colloquialisms that I have no idea about
In return he seemed completely shocked when I explained to him that "text speak" like LOL only evolved because we had to learn to type words on a numeric keypad of an old mobile phone, so everything got abbreviated for speed. He just thought it was real words!

In Allestree it was itchy chin, then eventually morphed into chinwag. I don't think we ever said chinny reckon but we would have known what it meant. It also became "Jimmy Hill" for obvious reasons
This was cuppies and double cuppies if you played in twos

We did 'chinny reckon' back in the 80s, but there was also 'itchy beard' (with the same chin stroking action), but if it was massive lie/utter BS, 'Tutankhamun' was used instead. This involved a much longer stroke of the chin (even sometimes down to chest level), and an over-emphasis on the last syllable (i.e. 'Tutankamoooooon')

She's a season ticket holder, as is Pauline Latham.
I know Amanda quite well, and she works very hard on a number of issues, the football club being only one of them. She's a huge champion for mental health, for example.
Like most MPs who want to keep their jobs, she follows the party whip on voting.
I don't share her politics, but it saddens me to see her name being besmirched because of them.

It's true that she seems to exhibit passion for certain things when she wants to, but her record of voting is abysmal and doesn't reflect what she says. I don't actually think she has any interest at all in football, but she realises that Derby is a passionate football town and that way lies votes...

But there are a number of sources that support the line that he has given a PG and put cash collateral w MSD  Neither would have been affected by administration
Seems likely he always wanted the deposit back, and that he agreed to Q’s appointment on the basis 202 would not file. Possibly the written agreement Q finally put in place with him re the stadium  (referred to in a Dec statement by Q ) required him to transfer 202 against return of the deposit.

If that was indeed the deal he made with Q, then the goalposts have been moved because no one will pay enough to get him his deposit back  - which might explain the difficulty in nailing down a deal now.

    But I’m probably wrong

Maybe, but he's not paying the bills until next week and he's not liable for any of them due to the conditions of the exchanging of contracts. What he's managed to do, is prolong anyone else from coming to the table, whilst the money in the club runs out. It puts us in a really tight spot if Mel continues to play hardball.
The leverage, in this case, is that CK has isolated him as the only really viable option and has almost painted Mel (and others) into a corner.
We will know more next week, of course, by the actions the club takes. I'm still not 100% convinced we will be able to offer new contracts until the takeover is complete and I would imagine we will still be under EFL restrictions with regards to transfers. The running costs at the moment, essentially are the players wages at the end of the month. In all honesty, at which time, CK could walk away without paying a dime.
