    That’s fair enough, true !

Consider .. you had a dream, you had some money to spend, you tried your very best to achieve it. It didn’t work. It has to be either very hard or very wrong to criticise someone who eventually is forced by circumstances (rather than deeds ) to retreat. Everyone is human and everyone has finite resources. The Americans snatched Mels hands off .. they couldn’t wait to bail out, no matter how hard they tried to make a sustainable business .. one that we all said “lacked ambition” .. Truth is fans want a sugar daddy to finance their dreams … they aren’t easy to find and I can’t countenance folk having a go at Mel for doing his level best with the cards he had. Uncle Mel bailed us out of that Hughes/Bryson double injury … For me that’s where the the plan went astray .. but you can’t fault Mel for giving support when it was needed.

Your opinion my is much different Mel sacked manager after manager, not giving them enough time. Got involved on the playing side far to much. Loved the limelight when things where going better. Also had a crazy idea the team would be full of the Academy players, he wanted to be the king of the castle and he has failed, my opinion of course, but look at the state he is leaving us in, my oh my, he might have had good intentions, but he has made far to many mistakes, i just wished we could get sold, and build a team to be competitive again.

Two big differences: 1) they brought in a new manager, 2) they weren't constrained by any transfer embargo.

We are Staying up I say we staying up I say we are staying up I Say we are staying up

Things can only and will get better, keep the faith the takeover is coming.

Fair enough on your opinion, my opinion is that Mel Morris spent £200 million of his own money supporting various managers wants and unfortunately most of that has been spent on average players with little sell on reality which results in our situation. All of that is a big shame which has been sprinkled with some bad luck at just the wrong moments but we are where we are.

And my opinion is the sooner Mel has gone the better, we need a fresh start, and hope the new owners are not always on talk sport, sky news talking rybbish, just go about the job in a quite professional manner, letting managers manage, and to  take responsibility of all signings.

Played a blinder ?. Uncle Bumble has been the creator of his own downfall. @MikeSthinks that a lot of people will have egg on their faces if the revised accounts show us within p&s limits (which I think they probably will). I think a few of you need to give yourself a shake, and wake up and smell the coffee.   Mel is a poo Fawaz.

Mel Morris has taken a good, and greatly admired, footballing team from the top of the division to the bottom in 6-7 years, where we were hanging on to 21st place for the last 5 minutes of the 20/21 season.  We start this new season with just a few experienced Pro’s, none of whom are particularly good IMO, an embargo, and a Manager who has worse approval ratings than Messrs Brown and Jewell (although I am not unhappy with WR). Mel has chopped and changed managers, and therefore playing styles, and overseen some of the worst purchases this club has seen. He has wound up the EFL, and as a club we are considered a bunch of cheats by the majority (not that I care about that). He has even taken the Club’s stadium out of the Club’s direct control to underpin his profligate spending.

Played a blinder ?  Be assured I won’t be there clapping him as he does his open top bus tour of Derby, after he sticks one to the EFL.

Very well put sir, agree wuth all the points u make.

Just hope we have time, to get a half decent squad together before the kick off has arrived.

You would think this will be the first of 2 or 3 United loanees.

That would help us, get a few of Manu up and coming players in our squad, hope we bring a few experience championship players in as well.

Nixon saying the American investors are not publicity seekers so it is likely to stay quiet & that a good comparison of the deal is Burnleys takeover

I would love Nixon to be right on this issue, and hope we are taken over soon, heard some rumours about the take over, but will not say as its just rumours but hope we get this over the line ASAP. As fans we need some positive news, as there has been so much negativity recently, there most be some good news around the corner please.

And some are suggesting some sort of crowd funding!  Mel is more than likely to be able to have assets to buy and sell us without a second thought.

Agree, no need for fans to do this, as our owner is a ram, and will as he has said on Radio Derby, Sky Sports News, Talk Sport and the others he is here to take Derby to a new level, he will develop the youth, and be the envy of all other clubs, oh Mel you got it so wrong, now save face and come on to Radio Derby, Sky Sports News and Talk Sport, and tell us all what went so wrong with your Derby vision, the Derby way, you have made a laughing stock out of Derby County and yourself.

Don’t worry there will be plenty still supporting Mel, god only knows why

I agree anyone now who supports Mel Morris decisions after all thats gone on is beyond me, we should all support our club Derby County, but to support a owner who has slowly destroyed us, is unbelievable, just hope we get sold ASAP, and the ground is also sold to the new owners, and we can start  looking forward to the new season.

    Home v Salford!!!

A nailed on victory then, 2-0, to Derby, the fans bouncing as the take over has been done, Mel has gone, and the new owners give Rooney a 10 million pound budget, to spend on 5 to 6 decent champuonship/ league 1 players, oh well i can dream a little can I not lol

  10. The sooner we are took over, and Mel has gone, is the time we can start to re build the mighty Rams, as everyone on here knows i am always positive about my club, not so much about Mel as what he has done to us is unforgivable, but we will come again, i have my season ticket for this season bought last season, and never once asked for a refund, will support Derby till the day I die, as the saying goes. Once A Ram Always A Ram.

Of course I am not happy but we are where we are because of the way football at this level is structured. Mel has made mistakes, he has been badly advised, risks he took didn’t pay off but he individually hasn’t taken us to the brink. There is a whole big story full of reasons and they don’t all come from Mel who has poured a fortune in to this club and compared to many has played a straight bat against a lot of dodgy bowling

In my opinion your post is way of the mark, Mel plays with a straight bat, lol, are u related to Mel, sorry but Mel has to take the blame, he employed the managers, he was the owner , so should have been aware what was going on at the club he has made more mistakes than any other chairmen i can remember and he is a so called fan, the sooner he is gone the better. Enough said now, we all know my opinion on Mel, and as u can see its not a good one, as being the chairmen of Derby County.

The only rubbish is the assumption that when your decisions don’t work out, and the game isn’t working for you. The you should keep paying and playing. Why ? .. so he has to keep funding our club because you say so ? Or if he doesn’t he’s not a proper fan ? You’ve got to be realistic surely ?

So your happy with Derby Fan Mel taking us to the brink of disaster, i know i am not, the sooner the club is sold and Mel has gone, the sooner US fans get our club back.

  13. 1 hour ago, jono said:

Really ? I can tell you that Mel isn’t trying to eek any money out of Derby that he didn’t put there in the first place. For sure he spent badly but the background to that and the failings of others explain it far more than berating someone who has financially backed / underwritten this club solidly for 5 years.

How with FFP / P+S regulations and the club losing money do you propose the new owners realistically invest in the team

If you can’t see that the youth policy was about keeping the club within those strictures then your reasoning and comprehension is dubious

Rubbish, Mel can put more in, Mel is full of himself, i been through this many times now, but we have 13 senior pros on the books, and the youth policy was used as Mel knew he had made so many mistakes, and did not want to put any more money in  Derby problems do fall on  Mel decision making, make no mistake about that.

No he was. But the squad he had was still better than this. Plus when he left us he wasn't 'doing well'.

So I think Rooney (or any manager except Pearson) should have the same opportunities. I've never said different. It's been interpreted differently by some posters but that's their problem.

Oh and get this right, I 'belittled' Cocu's football - again some on here cannot or will not see the difference. I thought Cocu came across as a very decent man indeed, I personally liked him. But that does not mean I want him as manager.

To be honest with you Roy, any manager would have a hard job working for Mel, which has been proven, most falling out with him at some time, and yes the squad Rooney has to work with is a very tough job, as was Cocu, Mel was determined to play the youngsters, not due to there talent but due to the clubs financial state of affairs which has now been proven, with all the poo happening now, even Akex Ferguson would struggle to take this squad of 13 very far, so for me as it has always been, Mel has alot to answear for, and the situation could still get worse if he does not sell us soon. rant over.

Reassuring that the EFL did their due diligence, alarming that Mel seemingly did not (again)

Does it really surprise you though, Mel only sees what Mel wants to, how some can defend him to the hilt is beyond me, he has slowly destroyed us, We need new owners as soon as possible to move on from this mess, and build a squad for next season and beyond.

    Are we billionaires yet?

Not yet, think Mel is worth 560 million, so half way there, do not worry Mel will always look after us, he would never put us at risk off being in financial hardship, oh wait a minute , he did not even pay the players or staff over the Christmas period, how could a Derby fan man and boy do this to his home town club. Sorry if i up set the Mel fan club with my honest opinions.

Too much of a footballer for us, Millwall are a much better footballing side than us these days.

And thats all down, to a type of manager we should get in, oh wait a minute we did, then Mel told him he had to play the young lads as that was the Derby way, so he left lol.

    If only pedigree did football.
