Possibly the reason he came back to "sort Gibson out" was that it was against him and not the club,there is a possibility MM didn't want his dirty washing aired in public which it would have if it had got as far as court hearings.

I think quite honestly he wants to get as much back from the club as he possibly can hence why he threw the club into administration to absolve himself from the debts which he recklessly racked up. 
But I don't know anymore than you do so let's wait and see, 

This has the feel of a Mike Ashley purchase at the eleventh hour. The bid is likely to be just enough to pay creditors enough to avoid a 15 point deduction next season whilst slashing Mel's £20m wish. All about timing.

What key assets do we have to sell? Don't we have like 4 players under contract who would be sold for pittance. Maybe get us 1-2 more months but then we have literally no players to field a squad. Would the EFL have to grant us special dispensation to sign up to 23 players of professional standing again? And I assume on a wage too low to attract a team remotely capable of survival in league 1 or the champ.

At some point in time, bidders would need to drop out so we can get to a PB. Not sure I'm remotely worried about the Binnies dropping out.
I'm more worried of Ashley low balling the bid so much we end up on minus 15. I'll struggle to support any new owner who believes this is a better option than paying the minimum amount needed.

The problem with that is, we'll still be under the terms of an agreed business plan.  So having a load of cash doesn't necessarily make that much difference, because we won't be able to spend it.  And if we fail to pay 25%, there's a decent chance that the terms of the business plan are much harsher.  There's no way we shaft a bunch of creditors and then go and splash £5m on signings/wages next season. 
Plus, the difference in TV money between League 1 and the Championship is ~£6m (see Wycombe's claim against us), so saving £5m at the cost of an extra season in League 1 is throwing money down the drain. And that's not to mention the probable lower attendances etc if we're in League 1.

But paying 20+ mil for a club with 6 players on the books, no stadium, that's probably dropping a league, will probably get a 15 point deduction in that league and be forced to work under another embargo or very strict business plan seems like a bad investment. Our history means mostly nothing to anyone that's not a fan. I mean just YouTube us and just about everyone under 35 just knows us as the worst prem team ever. A phoenix club if it started in league 2 would still attract good attendances for that league and over time could build back. Everyone loves a winner they say lol.
I hope to whatever footballing gods there are that I am wrong and I am just freaking myself out after another day of disapointing news, I just find it hard trust anyone involved in this admin process at all, no matter what side they are on.

I 'heard' it's not Ashley screwing down a deal, his bid is in. The new spanner in the works was a last minute bid by Dell (msd) l. Would make sense as they are the major creditor with money already in he club and the stadium.
