As a few others have said, I'd imagine it's the change of scenery and a chance to live in the US that will appeal to him.
Simple stuff like nice weather and relative anonymity might make a difference in deciding where to continue a career.
So what if the perceived level of football isn't at Prem or championship standard, not all players are bothered about that.
The last 4 years at Wigan and Derby may have taken its toll and he fancies a brand new start. Haven't we all at one point?
    Good luck to him.

Not every player is looking for a good standard of football though, maybe he wants to live over there and experience the lifestyle and you also have to think that he might have been offered pretty good money too and would rather that than play for a good championship team.

Brilliant run by Eilish McColgan in the 10k.
That last lap was sport at its best.
Good to see KJT enjoying the heptathlon again.

    Great final lap and interviews.
Shame that the organisation doesn't sound up to much.
Mind, I didn't especially enjoy the swimming at London 2012.

Mbutu was also the leader at the time of the Rumble In The Jungle - story in film When We Were Kings was that they were worried that local pickpockets and muggers would make hay when all the journalists and dignitaries came to Kinshasa for the fight. So Mbutu rounded up a load of them, took them to the dungeons where he had five or six small time crooks in a cell. He then had them all executed and said to the rest "try anything at all and that is what will happen to you".
I hadn't heard that story before though, thx for it.

There's a bit of a backstory to that Zaire team.
Their military dictator was so proud of them reaching the finals that he promised them a house each on their triumphant return and gave them a big kitty to spend in Germany.
However, after getting beat by Scotland and hammered by Yugoslavia (the team downed tools because their kitty and wages had been dipped by the official hangers on) he was embarrassed enough to threaten them with "don't return home" if they lost by 4 goals v Brazil.
There's a theory that the defender deliberately kicked the ball away to waste time and knock the ball as far away from the goal as possible.
As far as the team was concerned, they were playing that game to save their life.

Great performance and result after another lightning fast start. Genuinely surprised at how poor the All Blacks were in the first half of a series deciding test in Wellington.  Second half was different story to be fair.
The balance of power between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres is a lot more even these days, which is great for rugby in general.
Ireland have a long and proud history of peaking a year early and then failing miserably at the World Cup, so yeah that's a slight worry.. ?I won't bother worrying about it today though...???.

I think you're right, with no Cav or a serious GC rider it's not really caught the imagination as much, also the assumption the Pogacar was going to win it because he's better than the other contenders probably didn't help.
But epic ride from Tom Pidcock today, nice to see Chris Froome in the break as well.
Yesterday was just what the race needed and today was a lot more chess like, with Vinnergaurd having more pieces but Pogacar with a still strong position.
Worth noting, although he's probably not got enough to mount a serious challenge for the yellow jersey, Thomas is not a millions miles off in the GC, and i can remember when bradly wiggins getting 4th on GC was considered a big deal for british cycling.
I theres a few easier days now before the next big mountain stage.

I watched all the stages last week and thought it was a shoe in for Pogacar.
I missed the last 2 stages and looks like I've missed a couple of crackers.
I'll have to see if I can get them on catch up.
Le Tour seems a bit more low profile in the UK media this year. Maybe because Cav isn't there and theres no real GC contender, or perhaps the wall to wall coverage of the Euro's has taken its place.

Better to get thrashed in the quarter-finals than to go out earlier.
Derbyshire were the only Division 2 Championship side to get through the T20 groups, so before some of you condemn them as useless, perhaps a little dose of realism is called for.
