Yes, but you’re Scottish, and a Derby fan. Supporting a British team is the only time you’ve got half a chance of being on the winning side.

    ?

Makes the winning all the sweeter.

If it was a GB football team, I wouldn't support it. Don't ask my why, I don't know.

I think with the rugby its the Northern v Southern hemisphere thing.

  2. I love watching the Lions games.

Tradition, only every 4 years, perennial underdogs, players that become friends for life.

If you listen to the players and what it means to be selected for a tour, its the highlight of their careers.

As for today, here's hoping they can stand up to the Boks physicality and run the pack around.

Big call playing Price at 9 Conlan at 8 and Hogg at 15.

Only 2 Wales players picked even though they won the 6 nations.

  3. I really enjoyed that tournament.

The refereeing was excellent as was the application of VAR. UK referees take note....

It was brilliant seeing fans back in stadiums but the multi nation hosting doesn't work.

The standard of football and competitiveness was surprisingly good, I can't remember too many countries being negative.

Italy probably deserved to win overall, too many other fancied countries blew hot and cold.

As for the home nations, Wales got as far as they probably targeted. They are really going to miss Bale and Ramsey when they retire.

Scotland's campaign was a decent performance, a good performance and a rubbish one. Hopefully lessons leant for future tournaments. The emergence of Gilmour could be a game changer. (exactly the type of player England missed last night)

England did well to get to the final and could only beat what was put in front of them. As an outsider, I have to say they were functional and very effective, if a bit dull.

Southgate made them difficult to beat by shielding his defence in the knowledge one of his forward players could grab a goal. The gamble paid off until last night.

Why didn't Calvert Lewin come on to stretch the Italian defence in the 2nd half I'll never know.

There's a very good, young squad there for future tournaments. Foden, Grealish and Sancho need more game time in the starting 11.

Can we bin that god awful Atomic Kitten song now? ?

Roll on the new season. ?

    750k ???

Have u forgotten what we paid for Johnson , butterfield and Blackman??

Completely different times in terms of where Derby and EFL clubs are financially.

£750k in this transfer window should get a lot more than Ikpeazu, especially with all the free agents in the market.

Since the goalless draw his hard wired bias has been off the scale, If Scotland had won he would have exploded.

I can't see too much wrong in what he's said.

We've had weeks of English pundits and fans saying how they were going to smash Scotland.

If you want to see hard wired bias, have a look at Ferdinand comments pre match in the BBC studio.

When it came to 11 V 11 there was little or no difference between the teams.

  6. Clarke has got the team playing a system that all the players have bought into and enjoy playing.

It helps that we have players that are comfortable on the ball. I thought Mcgregor and Gilmour bossed the midfield.

Tierney named in the team give them a boost pre match whereas him missing out on Monday was a kick in the guts.

O Donnell came in for a load of stick after Monday, but he was brilliant last night.

A win on Tuesday should see us through and Croatia have never beaten us. It will be tough but at least we've given ourselves a chance.

The biggest complement I can give them is that they went away to a much more fancied team and there wasn't a great difference between the 2 sides.

    Have a watch of this:

Followed Scotland, 3 nights in London, 4 in Birmingham and 4 in Nottigham.

The atmosphere in Bham and Notts was brilliant, Wembley was good pre match but nasty after it.

Utter despondency when Mcallister missed that penalty to new depths when Gascoigne scored his goal.

We should have scored 1 more goal v Switzerland to qualify, but we also should have got horsed by Hollland in the 1st game.

You should have won that tournament, a real missed opportunity.

It's a crying shame that England hasn't hosted a world cup since 66, it would be an absolute belter.

Has a great record as manager over here winning 2 titles with Brisbane Roar and 2 with Melbourne Victory. Went to Japan and won a title with Yokohama. Was also Australian manager winning their first Asian Cup. Sets sides up to attack and has a no dhead philosophy.

He needs to get off to a good start or else the press will go after him.

Some of the ex playes are already lining him up, but its more a dig at Desmond than Ange.

He has some job with that squad. There needs to be a big clear out and numerous players brought in.

What kind of players though? They'll have been released for a reason. Many of them won't even get clubs for obvious reasons never mind have to worry about lowering their wage demands.

That's the skill of a recruitment team and manager.

Pick up players that offer something more or different than you have at your club at the moment.

Just because a player is released from Middlesbrough, Bolton or Sheff Wed doesn't mean he's not of use to Derby.

There could be personal family reasons behind it, a falling out with the manager, not fitting into a style of play, or perhaps the player has sat tight and waited for his contract to expire before wanting to try somewhere else.

Boro and WBA have now released players, I wonder when we will see the retained list. It’s going to be an interesting summer

Clubs across the country seem to be releasing more 1st team squad players than usual.

It might be a sign that they are attempting to lower wage bills.

There could well be a glut of players on the market that will have to lower their wages expectations.

  11. There was a reason it was only the "big 6" clubs fans that protested at the ESL plans.

They wanted the status quo to continue.

The same goes for the rest of the EPL, they had a chance to reshape the game and take some of the power away from the rebel clubs. Self preservation overtook the greater good. All they did was redistribute the parachute payments saved by Norwich and Watford to themselves. ?‍♂️

Don't expect anything to change higher up, as soon as English clubs started inviting all and sundry to buy their clubs they basically sold the games soul down the river.

Good points by @G STAR RAM above.

Nothing in the EFL will change until clubs start to live within their means and fans accept the consequences of this, which is basically paying lower wages and lower transfer fees along with developing young talent.

There might be a generation of fans not prepared to put up with this though as all they have known is Premier league / sky razzmatazz.

A friend of mine who lives in Dundee reckons Shankland (ST)  and Siegriest (GK) should be on the radar for championship clubs. Says Shankland's goal tally doesn't look great this year due utd struggling to make chances but reckons he's a better player than Dykes who has done pretty well for QPR. Both in the last year of contract

Shankland will be £1.5 -£2m minimum. I guess that rules Derby out.

Siegriest is a good keeper but possibly £0.5m.

There's a decent crop of players coming out of Scotland at the moment but mostly youngsters, and the clubs will look for transfer fees due to the length of contracts they are on.
