Do you think should have bought him a couple of years ago? I got hounded on here for suggesting that and Ayala because he wasn't in the cultured style of Cocuball. Yeh, but he can defend!

He looks to have got leaner without losing the rough and tumble from his game.

As a consequence, he has found a fair bit of pace and very rarely loses a foot race with a striker.

He's gone from being a forgotten man to 1st pick in the back 3.

His best games recently are part of a back 3.  Previously, as part of a pairing he was exposed and every mistake he made was punished.

We will miss him v Israel next month.

What are the BBC trying to do with the best sports quiz on the TV.

Did the program's producers ask a group of none sports minded people to come up with ideas for the show?

What was with the Paddy McGuinness chat show that was inserted in the middle of the programme, while the two teams tried to come up with the answer to a question. And where was the questions in the trampoline section of the show.

I lasted 10 minutes before turning over.

    It was terrible.

I think that I've a decent knowledge of sports people but on 1st glance I didn't know who 3 of the panelists were and I've yet to see Sam Quek do anything on TV or radio that I like.

Ugo Monye is an excellent rugby analyst and commentator but the whole show looked stiff and awkward.

  3. Last night I discovered that I like sour beers.

2 tropical sours from Vault city brewery in Dundee, and a lemon meringue ice cream sorbet IPA from Buxton brewery.

    Both bought in tesco.

I've also got 4 differant tins from DEYA brewery in Cheltenham and an Strawberry milkshake IPA from Brewdog saved for a sunny day.

Previously, any DEYA ones have been superb.

Thanks, always useful to have local info. What's the Bon Accord like? I understand Danish fans are meeting there this Wednesday.

Brilliant for Whisky ?.  It would be a long walk to Hampden though.......

For Scotland/ Aberdeen games in Glasgow I stay in the Ibis Styles on Waterloo Street, relatively new hotel which is handy for Central station. The Rhoderick Dhu and Admiral bar are good pubs nearby.

The local insider on Glasgow is @RadioactiveWaste

Going up to Hampden Park for the Denmark game in November as a birthday treat for my other half who is Danish, it'll be good to be supporting the same country for once!

I'm going up for that match as well, plus Moldova next Saturday.

Let me know if you need any Pub recommendations.

Rooney should have walked the day he kept Derby up but he didn't.

To be fair, Rooney was probably sold the same line as the fans were regarding a takeover and investment in the summer.

Didn't Alonso spout some rubbish about spending x amount of millions on players, and takeovers were "imminent" all through the summer.

Which I'd why I think he will eventually walk.

  7. That's the 1st batch of dopers suspended and a British sprinter amongst them. Thats the relay silver medal to be handed back.

Meanwhile, the 100m winner has said he won't race again this season, even though his current commercial value is at its highest.

    Let the floodgates open.......☹

Take away the cost of shirts, the manufacturer’s cut, and the seller’s cut (wages), you’ll get closer. The turnover isn’t pure profit.

Plus, Kit manufactures will pay a club a set fee for say 3 years. Basically the club get the kit sale money up front.

During those 3 years the vast majority of kit sale profits will go to the kit manufacturer, not the club.

There maybe a sliding scale if sales exceed a certain amount each season.

With Hibs being the only unbeaten team in Scotland after this weekend's matches, the question has to be asked, will this season be a season of greatness for the Leith side? No.

I'm not convinced Malky Mckay was a good appointment for Ross County and they might get cut adrift early on, Livingston's pitch should see them ok.

Big game for Gerrard on Tuesdsy, if they get knocked out it will leave a massive hole in their finances which might mean they have to sell either Tavenier or Kamara or Morelos.

Doig looks set for a big money move south, so if Hibs reinvest wisely there's a chance they can close the gap to 2nd and have a run at the cups.

The most pleasing thing 2 weeks into the season is the crop of young players being given their chance.

Some odd views on this thread really as there's surely something for everyone Olympics? Being a raging insomniac and a massive fan, I've  not been too bothered by the time difference and despite some awful luck, I think the British team has shone yet again.

When you look back to the horror days of the Atlanta Olympics it really does show how our athletes have benefitted from lottery funding. Also shows that we're pretty good at this stuff given a fair go at it and it's nice to see our team once again doing us proud on the international stage.

It's been a great Olympics and it might have been one of the best if fans were present.

Such a shame for Japan that they had the bad luck to host during a pandemic.

Loads of British olympians giving a shout out to the Lottery in their interviews, it's definitely lifted the standard.

It warms the heart to see athletes compete in something that they've been preparing 4 years for, give their all, and see the elation and emotion afterwards.

Do you know of any clubs who took out insurance against the effects of a pandemic and if so who are they?

Quote from Aberdeen's owner in January:

“Aberdeen are a well run club and we will get through this. We have insurance which will cover some of the losses caused by the pandemic"

The insurance probably wasn't "covid" specific, but they will get some money back.

I think Hibs had something similar, £2m.

Boks stuffed the lions. Too many poor performances. And too many shots of that gimp rassie erasmus giving it the big one.

I fear the chance of a victory in the series has gone. Too poor in too many areas.

    Bad tempered game as well.

Agree, I'm not sure where Gatland goes next week.

In theory, at the start of the series the lions were going to run the Boks forwards around the park.

However we've still to see the back 3 have the ball in their hands in space after 2 tests.

In terms of changes for next week, it depends who has gone "off tour" for 2 weeks.

...and the adventure is over for Celtic.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57972180

Ridiculously, they get another 2 chances in Europe.

Utter shambles of a club at the moment, they've basically had 6 months to rebuild and they've turned up for this season in a worse state than they left last season.

Meanwhile, the assets they could sell for decent money are losing value by the day.

Can't wait for the fans to return to the stadium.

    It's all rather funny.

Personally I think it is worse as a manager. Being a manager comes with far greater responsibility, he sets the standard through the club. Have our expectations dropped so much that we are ok with our manager getting pissed in a nightclub and allowing himself to be in this situation? Especially given our current situation. We need leadership and responsibility. When you step up to the big role you have to act the part. This isn't that.

Yip, tend to agree with you.

As manager, you have influence and power at a club. Show weakness and it gives players an out when the going gets tough.

By putting yourself in compromising positions, you are risking blackmail / bribery etc and that can have an effect on the club.

Im not saying that was the end game for the girls, but we've all seen "stings" in the past, and Wayne doesn't seem to make good choices with a beer in his belly.

Yes, but you’re Scottish, and a Derby fan. Supporting a British team is the only time you’ve got half a chance of being on the winning side.

    ?

Makes the winning all the sweeter.

If it was a GB football team, I wouldn't support it. Don't ask my why, I don't know.

I think with the rugby its the Northern v Southern hemisphere thing.
