I agree, with his talent Sibley should start every match. Unfortunately, every time he earns the right to start he bottles it through lack of effort and work rate. People moan about Collins but at least he gives it everything, even if the end product isn’t there. Why oh why doesnt Sibley always put in the same effort he has tonight. Possibly not quite bright enough to understand.

Collins appears to have far less an intellect than Sibley and I don’t think it’s  Effort Sibley lacks.

I see in him the exact player that we need to support the forward players therefore I interpret his actions very differently from you.

No one questioned his effort when he played left back/lwb so abely last season

I believe when we play football he plays well in the 10 role and when we don’t and play this scrappy rush it up front aimlessly then he doesn’t.

I loved Collins at Luton and was excited when he came here. His non stop fouling and his tendency to not be in the box when we sometimes need him there are far more infuriating to me from a seasoned pro rather than someone who hasn’t played so regularly and is towards the earlier part of their career.
His ball to Barks tonight when they were through was poor.

An interesting post and a good read though I do have to take you to task on the part in bold.

Out of our first team squad of 26, a total of 18 have played the majority of their career at League One or lower level than that.

Out of the 8 that have played most of their career at Championship level(or above), none of them have stand out stats in the Championship. Add to that that one or two at the minute are having their best seasons for a long time. Look at Waghorn, after leaving Derby, he scores 3 goals in 51 games at League One level and he's now scored 6 in 9 games for us.

I'm not being negative, just giving some interesting stats.

I am firmly behind Warne, not because I like his dour brand of football, but because I am of the opinion that he is still dealing with a squad that is capable of challenging for the play offs though that may not be good enough for supporters. He was clearly unable to bring in some of his targets over the summer, most noticeably a striker.

I think we have a team that is capable of moments. We are not good enough to dominate teams when they are happy to sit back. We lack guile and we look lethargic at times. I must add there that the signings of Fornah and Nyambe are potentialy the best we have brought in.

I shall let you off this once CongletonRam .. like I quite clearly said..  a lot of the squad have played in the championship. 😂😂

your post is being fact checked as we speak but nonetheless as they do not support my argument they are to be discarded. I believe this to be the rules of the forum.

Used to date a girl from Delamere Park, Cuddington.

    Nice part of the world.

    appreciate the post

  3. Why do some posters on here keep stating that we’re in league one and we have league one players …

    we don’t!!!

we are in league one - correct. No one has posted otherwise to my knowledge.

most of our squad has played most of their careers in the championship .. so how the chuff are they league one if by league one we mean league one standard - hence defending the crap aimless zero structured football that we have seen them play for most of this season.

we have a good team of good football players and I’m sick of people saying we haven’t thereby excusing the standard of play. Korey smith is a fine example. If Warne can unlock, motivate, formulate a strategy that can unleash this squads potential (in essence his job) then we will go up automatically.

our bench the other night was awesome… chuffing league one my backside

not arrogance or blinded by us being a big club for this league simple fact. Cashin is probably the most league one as most of his appearances have been in this league .. and he was as you close as you get to being a premier league player a month ago.

this is why I want us to attack teams with purpose and skill - because quite simply we can. We are so capable of dominating this league. Play good footballers at home and not two sitting dm’s, rotate the squad wisely and the bobble hats will sell out.

mind you we are getting into flat cap and oversized cardigan season soon…

Yep, I was one of them. After pre-season, I thought we'd start the season on the rampage and I was quite taken aback when we didn't. It just shows the added pressure that players are under when the game gets serious.

The strikers do seem to play with a certain amount more freedom away from home. More space on the break, as articulated by @GangwayD. Let's see if Bird can replicate some of Didzy's genius at working in tight areas at home now he is back. He hasn't got the scoring power of Didzy, but if he can continue playing those balls forward in and around the box it should help us to break down those stubborn defences. Waghorn or Collins should benefit from that. (Just don't start them together, please. Mr Warne!)

Thought the exact same regarding the confidence after pre season. I felt that the recruits overall would make us stronger and goals would be spread out. I felt confident that between Washington, Waghorn and Collins  would at least match the goal tally that Didzy and Collo achieved last year which I believe was 36/37 - still think this will be achieved.

just feel that at home Sibley/Bird in the 10 and maybe only one cdm will help us unlock stubborn defences

hope Warne remembers how he rued not rotating the players last season with thommo, Bird and CH back we have options

  5. Personally I’m not currently a Warne fan.

I think we’ve got a really good squad that could stay up in the championship with a pacy forward and a pacy cb if Cash goes

The football we have played at times has been awful. All too often.

The ‘we expect someone in the building in the next couple days’ and then repeatedly no one joined

Odd tactics - ie Bird not used in the Cambridge game until 5 mins left

Not a fan of his interviews  and the disconnect between his interviews and what we see on the pitch

I have expressed concern for the team and would like Warne gone based on the above

    however …

last night though was fkin brilliant. Loved it. Super proud to see the team play so well.

if The team starts to play like this and fulfill most of their potential I shall eat my bobbly hat and sing Paul Warnes black and white army  live on sky sports news when they report on big spending Derbys promotion

but I am allowed to not feel confident when we consistently play poorly .. really poorly and I am allowed to share those thoughts and if you don’t agree with what I’ve said you don’t actually need to comment

this is the first time I’ve not been a happy clapper and if some posters want to repeatedly focus on Warnes shortcomings it doesn’t mean that the rest of us that are concerned should be shot down too   - I’m surprised how much impact a couple of so called negative posters have had.

im disappointed a little in the bickering - on both sides

you’d never see Ryan Nyambe acting this way

  6. Defence played well - determined, committed and strong

    midfield all played well

    Forwards either assisted or scored

One swallow does not a summer make but we played some football two games in a row and we won very ugly at Carlisle which is fine - feeling good/better tonight I hope this continues

safe journey home those that went

  7. Whilst I liked him at Aston Villa Dean Smith was awful at Norwich. Genuinely not exaggerating when I say his interviews were toxic and he obviously didn’t care one bit. Very odd compared to his time at Villa and Brentford.

Warnock would be great fun for a year - could we get him to support Warne a la El Tel with Bryan Robson at Middlesbrough (before they were ****s)

Dont like the sound of Nathan Jones

    Would love Lee Carsley

Jody Morris is potentially very exciting

Would even be happy with Gillette features himself - Mac 3
