Woodley Ram got a reaction from Carl Sagan in Matchday Thread - Shrewsbury Town v Derby County (16/08 19:45)
I have two comments about the game
Collins needs help up front, far too often he is on his own in the box with 2-3 defenders to beat. I like playing out from the back, but we seem to reset when we get the ball, we seem to get the ball back, wait for the opposition to re group and then attack. We need to move the ball quicker whilst the opposition defence has not reset. -

I don't think Shrewsbury would survive in the Championship and I think there is a difference, not for all teams but in general. L1 is far more physical, although to be fair I wouldn't say Shrewsbury are a dirty team. There play last night was different to ours, more direct and yes we will meet teams with both styles. They did what I expected, pressed when they could, had 3 at the back and defended as a group.
If they had played a similar style to us I think they might have lost, instead they adopted a style to get the most out of the game and they almost did.

Amazing that people make NML the mom, good goal but he was knackered before half time which is where I would have taken him off. Not because he played badly just that he had nothing left to give. Cashin MoM best performance I have seen from a centre back in ages

I thought Barnsley were like us in the championship, can keep the ball but no end product, even their goal was lucky.
we suffered more than them in the heat, we wilted in the second half and NML was knackered before half time. That meant our out ball when we are under pressure ( one one into the opposition corner) never had a runner. The effect of that was it came straight back.
thought Oxford were a much better team than Barnsley. We suffered from a lack on pre season training, it really showed in the match. Also the team will start to gel more and passes will not go astray. We are still a team in transition but give it. Another 10 games and we will be on it for both fitness and passing.
Loved Cashin today excellent but also a mention for Collins, his goals will come and wow did he put in a shift and unsettle their back line. For a forward goals are important but they are not everything.

Good point and it’s true, the EFL knew that, otherwise they wouldn’t have needed to make a rule saying it has to be straight line.
but you hit my point we need to move on

I'm talking about the talent in the squad, not the bureaucracy of the EFL. Where was I arguing about being relegated?

I think the carpet baggers here are other clubs who pick over the bones of administration clubs for free bees and cheap talent. We are not the first and will not be the last

Woodley Ram reacted to RodleyRam in Jason Knight
In order for club to be financially viable in the short to medium-term we have to be able to cash in on our best young talent, like Knight. We cannot do this if we cannot offer them competitive contracts and force other clubs to pay us what they are worth. Far too many have been sold way below market rate, thus heavily affecting our sustainability as a business.
I understand the desire for Derby to be punished for our crimes against humanity and I don't have any issues being forced to demonstrate a sound business plan. But that business plan needs us to be able to maximise our income as well as control our expenditure, it simply can't just be the latter otherwise we stagnate and die a slow death.
The way the business plan and restrictions are executed needs to be based in the real world and wet should be able to make a case for offering players like Knight competitive contracts, if only to stave off the vultures who continually pick over the carcass left by the previous regime.

Not sure why other fans don’t just get hold of the facts.
- we paid our bills, including wages last year, Bury didn’t hence why they went bust.
- not sure what other penalty we could have got, 21 points is a big penalty
- we haven’t paid a fee
- wages are limited as per business plan and every signing has to be approved by the EFL, no chance of over paying.
- we lost millions not being able to resign players and having to sell them cheap to pay bills. I don’t have an issue with this as it’s our fault going into Administration.
- now the Owls received a lenient penalty for going over FFP, remember we were only just over.
- in comparison they received a lenient penalty for not paying wages, we received nearly as much as them for not paying for 2 weeks, they didn’t pay for months.

well done to Oxford for that. The game will be difficult and they will think they have a chance and why shouldn't they. They have a decent team and are playing us at the right time. Gut feeling is a 1-1.

Not sure you can say that although could be true. I would have thought that both remain quiet due to lawyers telling them to do so. Could be for a multitude of reasons that as you pointed out we are not privy to.
I think it needs sorting out ASAP for the player and clubs sake. That said I am still not impressed with his or LB's actions on this subject and think that DCFC should receive some sort of compensation. With LB it will be interesting to see if he is in the Bremen team/squad for their first game. Likewise it will be interesting to see if Byrne is signed by anyone before the contract issue is concluded.

The contract needs to get sorted as it will be bad for both parties if it isn’t
