Just about scraped myself off the ceiling - ooh, err matron!
Great team selection tonight, another fantastic blood and guts performance from the lads, laced with no small amount of good football too. Further credit to Wayne and the coaches; the right subs made at precisely the right time. Full kudos, they got it absolutely spot on tonight in every regard.
For my part, I can't help but love this squad. For years now, even under Mac1 when we had a seriously good footballing side, we always had something of a soft centre. These lads, however, are tough as teak and are showing just the kind of gritty resolve we've so often lacked. In an era when most players seem to be all about themselves, these lads play for each other and the fans. Just watch how they react to every challenge, every save, every goal and every point secured. We talk about pride in the shirt and rightly so. These lads have it in spades. And what about those fans of ours! Our lot are now indisputably the most rabidly fervent collective of madheads anywhere in the EFL. No contest!
All these elements combined have topped off a wonderful festive period for me and mine and I really hope for yous lot too. With another 4 days before I even consider doing any work again and the chance to pop another 3 points on the board in the interim, this has been a holiday I'll not forget for a long while and I'm bursting with pride for this maddening, yet wonderful club of ours. Folks have espoused the opinion that suitors would be mad to invest in Derby County FC. Personally, I think they'd be mad not to.

    He’s a young Liam Thompson.
Let’s appreciate him as an individual.
Full of heart, neat on the ball and very mature for his age.
When he makes a mistake he works his socks off to rectify it.
    Love his attitude.

To be honest he doesn’t have the answers so no point asking him and last night needed to be purely about the football and the amazing efforts of this team!

I predicted a 2-1 win as I have usually done.
I predicted that we would not stay in 24th spot.
I don’t believe in predictions but I DO believe in Derby

Take away the points deduction, we would be 15th on 28 points from 23 games with a squad that before a ball was kicked and we were on zero with all the other teams most people outside Derby and some within Derby thought would struggle to survive. This has been the most difficult period in our history, Rooney’s leadership has been outstanding, a lesser leader (forget managerial tactician, many of those aren’t good leaders) the players would’ve thrown in the towel. Instead we’re fighting every game and I’ve never felt prouder of a Derby team and Coaching staff than I do right now. That for the most part is down to Rooney.
He is still learning the coaching game, he will make mistakes but the passion and drive he has to succeed and that he has instilled in the players is getting us through and he is doing an excellent job. He is absolutely the right man for Derby right now and it shouldn’t even be questioned for what he has given this club in difficult times. The only way Rooney is not manager of Derby is if financially it cannot work with the new owner. We need to control our costs but otherwise - crack on Wayne.

I sincerely hope it's a very Happy New Year - well, for everyone on the planet.
It's been an awful couple of years through the pandemic. The threat of war between Russia and Ukraine is scary. As though all of that isn't bad enough, climate change will have the biggest ever impact on humanity.
That all said, what keeps us all going is our shared love of football and, in particular, of Derby County. Football, sport, entertainment gives us a release from the stresses of our everyday lives. And yet, currently, supporting the Rams only seems to add to the stress.
Let's hope we get a new owner soon, put administration and points deductions behind us, and start building an entertaining and successful football club once again.
Finally, I just want to thank the Forum Admins for providing this platform. Thank you to all posters for your contributions - whether you are optimistic or pessimistic about the future - or no matter how you feel about Tom Lawrence - I have enjoyed reading your posts. Thank you for keeping the club close to me.
Very best wishes to you, your families and your friends.

Do I think Rooney is a tactical genius?
No, but he's learning and has improved over last year.
Do I think he's getting the best out of the players available?
Mostly yes. Sibley and Jozwiak are possible exceptions but there may be other reasons for that. All players appear very motivated despite the club's position.
Has Rooney had long enough to prove his credentials?
It's not the time so much as the circumstances. These are exceptional times and it's nigh on impossible to judge.
Could another manager do better with the club in its current plight?
Maybe. We will never know. Without a goalscorer and with a 21 point deduction, it's hard to see anyone doing "well enough" (also note what's happened to many people's oft touted candidates: Hughton, Cook and Jokanovic).
So what's so good about Rooney?
The way he has conducted himself throughout this whole sorry process. By all accounts his approach to the players and staff has been empathetic, considerate and thoughtful. He has surprised me with - for the want of a better word - his "class". He thoroughly deserves our support.
Let's judge his football management when (if) the club is ever stabilized. Once he has truly been able to assemble his squad and started playing his preferred tactics rather than those dictated to him by squad availability and the quest for survival.
Come on Derby. Come on Rooney ?

    No.
He's still leading us through the most difficult and horrendous season of our club's existence with a dignified calmness and getting superb performances from our squad of old men and kids.
We'll still be singing, "He goes by the name of Wayne Rooney", loud and proud for a bit longer yet.,

Did everyone see the attention Curtis Davies paid him when he was subbed?
Arm around the shoulder, words in the ear and then Curtis clapped him all the way off the pitch.
Luke should feel 10 ft tall tonight, great start and he's in good hands with teammates like that.

We remember how your fans supported us through our darkest hours.
We now have our club back and we are on our way back, but your fans were brilliant at Bloomfield Road singing all the Oyston out songs with us. We had a mini riot during that game, a night match and later that season, we started boycotting games home and away.
Word is, our fans are 100% behind you during this hopefully short term blip in your great clubs situation.
    Good luck from the Seasiders!
