And that is all we need to know. The EFL say otherwise and have been backed up by the three (non accountancy qualified) judges. Its a disgraceful face saving exercise. On a positive note I am absolutely delighted it goes back to the original panel to decide on an appropriate sanction as originally they didn't think we deserved anything.  Slap on wrist incoming!!

A value (ERV) is assigned to a player for the start of the final season. It is then a straight line from when they sign to that ERV. the remaining amount is amortised in the final season. Contract extensions mean setting a new ERV and adjust the straight line to suit (current period in time to ERV)

As an external auditor myself, one of our key jobs in any financial audit is ensuring that the accounting policies comply with the applicable standards (as others have mentioned, FRS102).
I personally haven't ever audited a football club, but seeing as the intangible assets are such a material part of the balance sheet I'm sure that any auditor would be massively thorough in auditing that balance (and the amortisation to go along with it).
The auditors sign off to say that the accounts are prepared in line with the applicable standards, so surely they must be. How the EFL can go back now and say that they're not is beyond me.

This bit confuses me. So the arbitration panel (with no accountancy expertise) rules that the commission (which includes an accountant) was wrong on a point of accountancy legality. And that is referred back to the commission (including the accountant) who went into a fair amount of detail about why accountancy law wasn’t broken, to decide on a punishment. Makes no sense.

They paid off the stadium? That is just blatantly untrue. MM paid the £15m mortgage off after taking over the club.
And despite GSE getting rid of the high earners we were still losing £9m per year, a loss that they no longer wanted to cover and they could not wait to get  rid of us.
I had no problems with GSE but its amazing seeing their tenure being praised when people were protesting against them and 'the Barker type fee' jibe was used against them on an almost daily basis.

My reading of the 2 staements (EFL vs DCFC) based on zero knowledge of the actually facts:
The EFL needed a win for it's own credibility as much as anything else and are being pretty triumphalist about it.
DCFC also needed a win to get out of the poo.
The result is actually somewhere in between. It's a qualified win for the EFL, but given the orginal panel's pretty scathing verdict of the EFL's case, I don't think they will be inclined to go all guns blazing at us, especially as the part that the appeal overturned was one the original panel were detailed in why they found in our favor.
It's a win for the EFL, but not the big one they want everyone to believe. There's going to be some consiquences for DCFC, but yet to see what. Almost certainly won't be applied this season.

The highlighted part beggars belief. In the absence of a prescribed amortisation model, the club, like most other companies, is obliged to follow financial reporting standards, in this case FRS102. The club's auditors, by definition qualified accountants, were clearly satisfied that they did, so how on earth can someone who is not an accountant say that they didn't. It is almost as if they deliberately chose not to have an accountant on the panel so that they could get the decision they wanted without having to let the facts get in the way of their disgusting face-saving ploy.

Youve said that we will get a points deduction which is complete speculation. The matter is being referred back to the DC who initially pretty much ruled most things in our favour.
Im not exactly sure what I am fighting for?
Didnt the club put out a statement after the final match and again today regarding the EFL announcement? What exactly are you wanting them to say?

Without sounding rude, if you have something to tell us all why not just say it instead of carrying on with all of this cryptic nonesense.
You claim to have the clubs best interests at heart, so surely if you have some earth shattering news then surely you would need us all to know to get us on your side and putting some pressure on the ownership.
Now I don't know you but from what other people say you seem to be a nice genuine guy, but from an outsider point of view, the tactics you are employing on here just make you lool like an attention seeker. I'm not saying that as an insult just letting you know why you will potentially be harming the cause that you say you want people to join with you and fight.
I know you've said you wont say anything because people know who you are but what are you expecting? Mel Morris and Stephen Pearce to come round your house when it is dark and bury you under Pride Park Stadium?
As long as what you are saying is factual and not libellous I'm really not sure why you think that you cannot say it on here.

I think recalculation, but no points deduction due to the circumstances.
We started using it in 2015 in good faith. Those 3 seasons spending activities were related to that decision by the EFL.
If they told us we couldn't use it, our transfer activities would have differed to ensure we remained compliant.
It's a bit different to SW, who were not complaint, then after the deadline passed tried to put the sale in the wrong year to stay within limits. Even they managed to get their punishment reduced by 6 points despite blatantly cheating.

Whatever the amortisation policy how the hell can we breach the rules in any 3 year period including 17/18 with the £40m profit on stadium sake? That would be a >£79m loss over 3 years excluding the stadium sale.
We only spent big in one season 15/16 without making significant player sales like we've made in other seasons (Hughes, Hendrick, Ince, Vydra, Weimann, Bogle, Lowe,).

I've been critical of the way we've conducted business and where that has left our finances but on this particular charge I still maintain that I don't think we've done a hell of a lot wrong morally.

So the "EFL win" is simply that the Disciplinary Commission need to reconsider Professor Pope's evidence?
    Have I understood that correctly?

I must be one of the few people who thinks Mike Dean is a actually a good referee, he takes an awful lot of stick at times ( mainly for actually having a personality ) but is never afraid to call it as he sees it.
    Long live Mike Dean!

Here’s where I’m at on writing an open letter to the club as the owner of this forum.
We have thousands of members, all with their own unique views which we provide, in my opinion, one of the best platforms online to air which can be and is seen by the club.
Unlike traditional supporters groups I am not an elected chairman/spokesman, but simply the owner that created this platform.
My voice holds no more weight than any other fan on this forum.
Fans joined this forum to discuss the club with fellow fans, the forum name dcfcfans does not stand for or against any kind of viewpoint/agenda. It is quite simply a platform to air your views.
Traditional supporters groups, as far as I’m aware do not have online platforms outside of their social media accounts for their members voices to be heard.
For their collective voices to be heard, open letters such as Punjabi Rams have written would be the best way.
If any members on this forum do feel they want to create an open letter to the club, feel free, this is your platform to be heard.
All I ask is that it is made clear that the letter is signed on behalf of fans that have given the letter a like and not on behalf of the full community to avoid any kind of disagreements.
As I say, this platform does contain views from both ends of the spectrum and would be impossible to collectively create a letter that is unanimously agreed upon.
