Can see the line up being the following tomorrow -
Vickers - Nyambe Nelson Cashin Elder - Thompson Adams Hourihane - NML Collins CBT
Wildsmith Bradley Wilson Bird Smith Sibley Barkhuizen
Meaning Ward & Fornah miss out. Imagine our squad in a few weeks when Forsyth, Washington & Waghorn are back, if we can keep everyone fit from then we have a very strong squad with 5 first teamers not even making the bench.

Pretty sure Warne has said a few times this month he wants a striker, is in for a few but wasnt overly confident we would get one so the signs were there.
As for Smith & Gregory, just because they were the names that came our from the Sheffield end it does not mean they were our main targets or even our only targets. Adams said he knew of our interest over a mo th ago but at no point was his name in the media until hours before he signed. So im sure there were other strikers we went in for but havent made the media.
If anyone thinks our whole Jan was us fixated on Smith & Gregory are clearly clueless on how transfers work. I can guarentee that DC, SP, MT, PW & staff will all be annoyed we havent managed to bring one in but there will be reasons why thats happened.
However, we have managed to strengthen other key areas so its not like the whole window is a failure.

Hard to judge if this has been a good window or not...
Signed our main target in CBT
Signed a much needed defensive mid in Adams
Kept our main players
Got abit of money for Bird
As it stands, strengthened 2/3 key areas we needed to.
So does us (potentially) not getting in another forward, which Warne clearly wants too bring one in, mean overall its been a bad window?
-
Interesting we are still in for a mid, maybe 2 going today?

Not seen the annual link to Jutkiewicz....maybe it could be him

Nah. Collins played for Cardiff and bagged the day before he signed for us
Wasnt that a friendly though, abit different to a competitive game
-
Our bench vs Cheltenham was -
Wildsmith Bradley Thompson Fornah Fapetu Robinson Ward
No matter your opinion of Gregory you cannot deny if yoy put him on that bench he instantly improves it. Is he the man everyone wants, no, but will he improve our bench & offer something as a sub, yes he would
-
Deal pretty much agreed between the clubs...

I think Adams & Fornah/Thompson in the 2, then Bird/Hourihane in the 10 would be a decent combo
-
If i remember rightly him & Waggy looked good together upfront in the season behind closed doors before injury hit.
Gregory would chip in with a few goals for sure, and as well as proving cover for Collins should he get injured/suspended, he would also give us a chance to actually rest Collins abit more rather than him having to play full 90s every game.

I feel like this is more of an enquiry as it is probably a deal we would look at late on if players higher up our list (Smith/Mubama?) dont become available

really sick of hearing we have no money...whether its true or EFL restrictions or a combination of both i refuse to believe we can't get a decent player in on loan or buy someone,( I don't mean spending a fortune ) how does it work out then that Bolton can spend and Charlton can offer big sums of money when there income through the gate etc is much less than ours
If we knew it was going to be difficult getting players in why haven't we used Robinson and Weston more from the bench to at least give them a try
Bolton & Charlton are working within standard FFP/P&S structures like everyone else in the league whereas we are still working with the EFL under a business plan until the summer. This post says it all really...

Did we have the money to buy Washy? Didn't we do a loan but we'll pay you if we go up deal?
I would think the idea of the Reading firesale will be to raise money now

The Reading fire sale is well underway. They're flogging Tom McIntyre to Portsmouth for just £75k, someone who I'd really like at Derby. Good age at 25, experience in the Championship with 100 odd games. https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/sport/24083056.reading-fc-defender-verge-portsmouth-move-cut-deal/
As already said there's that Knibbs there, obviously Savage junior. Why aren't we looking at shopping there? We had Carson and Byrne off Wigan in their time of need. Plenty had our pants down during the admin year. Time to return all the love.We dont have the money to buy anyone so why would we be looking there? Until the summer we are still under restrictions so just need to bide our time in the market.

1 million percent not a Warne player or could we afford his wages
It would be a loan so i guess we would only offer what we could afford.
As for a Warne type player, I think Ince got tarnished as a lazy player but he wasnt. His body language isnt always the best but you could also say that about NML
-
Tom Ince available on loan, would 100% bring him back if we let Ward leave. Ince would be quality at this level imo

According to Darren Witcoop both Oxford & Peterborough going head to head for his signsture, Bristol Rovers have also enquired.
So no mention of us so probably not one we are in for, as Witcoop does like to throw our name in the mix alot.

I have him on the bench purely because he missed a days training to go for his medical in Bristol & Warne said he needed to see him in training to see where his head was at etc
