Hourihane and smith are both out of contract in the summer aren’t they? So we may be looking at replacements that aren’t getting games or contracts expire that would be cheap to get in.
As it stands our only centre mid beyond this summer is Fornah so not shocked at all to see us linked with centre mids. We will probably need 2 or 3 beyond this summer. I can only really see Thompson staying. I think we will offer Sibley a new deal for compensation purposes but thats it. Bird will go regardless of promotion, Smith wont get a new deal & I think Hourihane only stays if we go up.

Thought it would have been made official the loan has been mutually cancelled by now?

Now we are out the group stage we should be looking to win this as well as goving fringe players minutes. Warne managed to do it at Rotherham as well as winning promotion, I said at the start of the season we would win the league & this cup & still think we are capable of doing both.
For Tues night it is a good game to give players some much needed minutes & others a rest. We should still be strong enough to win.
Wildsmith - Ward Cashin Bradley Elder - Fornah Thompson Fapetu - Sibley TJJ Barkhuizen
Loach Nelson Forsyth Wilson Bird Robinson Weston Brown Collins
Hopefully one or both Smith & Waghorn are able to be on the bench to get some minutes. If so, have them on the bench over Bird & Collins.

Dont know if it is down to Warneball or not but 2 things he wanted us to get better at & says the top teams do is score from set pieces & subs making impacts.
Well I didnt realise until todays game that we 1st in terms of goals from subs & that was before Barkhuizen scored. Then we are 2nd for set piece goals, no coincendence that Peterborough (1st) & Portsmouth (3rd) are also up there so goes to show Warne really does know what gets you out of this league.

Been told today from a good source that JCH is off to Charlton for 300K or there abouts...seems a strange one him going there but does that free up CBT ?
If JCH is 300k we need to be bringing him in

Looks like a 3421 to me, I did think we would go to a back 3, especially away with no Nyambe.
Dont they have Stockley who is a big lad up top so Bradley makes sense up against him

Wildsmith - Ward Nelson Cashin Forsyth - Bird Hourihane - Barkhuizen Sibley NML - Collins
Vickers Bradley Elder Fornah Thompson Wilson TJJ

I dont think too may players will be rested for this game, they will more than likely get rested for the Bradford game next midweek with abit of a longer rest til the Monday night game vs Burton.

Bird has a couple of really good games a season but thats it. Doesnt control the game from deep, not a very good tackler, not really a box to box midfielder & doesnt score all that many. After all his appearances I still dont think anyone has a clue what Max's best position actually is. I think with him being an academy player he gets more grace from fans, if he had signed last summer under Rosenior fans would say he was a poor signing.
If we got over £2m for him id snap your hands off. Much better centre mids out there imo, Randall & Kyprianou today & Branagan just from recent games.

Would be a decent signing, thought we would be after him when he left Man Utd originally

Also - in football transfers, very rarely does much of it get paid up front. If we sell for £4 million, I’d be shocked if we got more than £2 million up front.
That means we have less to play with ourselves to try and entice transfers to us.
Simply - he’s the most important player we have. Do not sell if we want to finish top two.
It would go for any incomings too, wouldnt be say 1.5m upfront it would probably be 750k

I like the lad but 4m is alot of money for a league 1 player, especially if we can keep him on loan for the reat of the season. That 4m could be the difference in us going up autos or making playoffs if we spent it wisely.

He is worth more now to us than he was then. The new TV deal is much more generous and far far far more generous to Championship rather than League One teams.
If we wouldn't sell in September, we sure as hell wouldn't now.
We did agree to sell though but it just fell through as it was too late

Warne stating he wants a winger & forward to add more pace to our front line as well as an athletic midfielder. DET also saying we're still interested in Blackett-Taylor.
Ive said it before but in terms of budget another midfielder will just replace Embleton if they join on loan. CBT and a pacey/athletic forward would do the trick.
Sounds like Warne wants permanents & players who can be here for 3 or 4 years. I wonder if Ladapo could be an option again.

Peterborough vs Barnsley on Friday too so if we can get a win vs Oxford that will be at least 2, maybe 3, teams around us dropping points as we gain 3

Barker been waiting all 1st half to say that we have been able to test Tickle.
Back to the game, ref been pretty poor with his cards. We have been all over them & could be 2 or 3 up, play like this for the rest of the season & we will win the league.

Dont think NML will start following Warne's comments, probably try & get him fit for Oxford & Peterborough.
Can see us changing shape for this game with Nyambe not fully fit, Ward out of sorts & NML probably out so it means we can get Wilson in but still in a more advanced position than right back -
Wildsmith - Nelson Bradley Cashin - Wilson Fornah Hourihane Forsyth - Bird Barkhuizen - Collins
Vickers Elder Nyambe Ward Thompson Sibley TJJ
Elliot Embleton - signed on a season-long-loan - cancelled

Im sure it was stated at the time there was a clause in Jan for him to potentially go back. Dont know who is able to exercise that clause though
