Because they can still play. Keogh is no longer capable of fulfilling the terms of his contract due to his own negligence. He should feel priveleged we offered him anything at all. Seems pretty straight forward to me. The other two havent been paid for 6 weeks.

Technically, it appears he has broken the law, by not wearing a seat belt, but seeing as no charges have been brought (as yet), "I'll give you that one"... No he hasn't broken the law.
We don't know whether he has broken any club rules or not... that is why this whole thread is going around in circles... and I'm as guilty as anyone for contributing!
Also, we don't know that the accident "wasn't his fault".  A flick of the tab here.  A yank of the hair there.  What appears to be a bit of a jape to a drunken back seat passenger can soon become a dangerous distraction to a driver... sober or otherwise!  Now, I appreciate nothing of that ilk came out in court, but imagine if that was the story subsequently being fed by the driver and/or the front passenger to the club... during the investigation...off the record, so to speak.
I reiterate, we just don't know the facts leading to this reduced contract offer, and the subsequent dismissal, so none of us can say that Keogh has been fairly or unfairly treated!
Hypothetically... I would imagine... without any personal insight into law and/or employment law... that if Keogh had reported to work with his leg in a clamp, unable to play for the next 15 months, and it transpired that the cause was due to him knowingly (drunkenly or otherwise) accepting a lift (or demanding one!) from a driver that was subsequently charged and punished for drink driving... regardless of whether that driver was a work colleague, a spouse, a secret lesbian lover, or a contortionist from Venezuela... then yes, I do believe the outcome would have been the same!

Without getting into a debate about their footballing abilities, who would have suffered by sacking Lawrence and Bennett? Not them. Another club somewhere would have signed them and their footballing careers, on exorbitant salaries, would have carried on. The club probably did as much as they could in terms of punishing them.

The club are obviously saying he broke the terms of the contract.
If the salary is irrelevant why dont you pay it on  behalf of the club? You seem a honourable person so sure you will have no problem doing this?

There will be no grounds for appeal. The insurance against injury will be a key component of a players contract.  It's the clubs protection against being saddled with the salary of a highly paid player with a long term injury. Within the players contract will be a series of stipulations about what they can and can't do in line with the insurance policy. A set of conditions if you will. Players will sign up to them in their own contract in order to protect the club. Exclusions to cover will be in there...things like bungee jumping, skiing, riding a motorbike. All activities that are considered to have a higher than normal risk of injury if participated in. There will also undoubtedly be a clause for knowingly and wilfully putting themselves at risk such as getting in car with people know to be intoxicated.
Now put aside the drink driving incident and assume Keogh went off on a family holiday skiing and bust all his knee. Should the club be saddled with the cost for his indiscretions. No because it was very clear what they can and can't do. It will have been very very very clear in the contract he signed that agreed to pay him £25k per week. He broke the terms of his contract resulting in additional none insured costs to Derby of salary, medical and rehabilitation costs.
Whilst the other clowns were very lucky not have injured themselves and incurred the same wrath I expect that it is almost impossible to link drink driving out of the work place to 'gross misconduct' as they weren't at work.
It's an unfortunate consequence of an abhorrent incident on all parts.
Had they sacked the other two I suspect they would be in court for unfair dismissal. However Keogh appears to be a clear incident of gross misconduct that would be stipulated in his contract.
In my opinion they have been generous in offering him reduced terms to stay on. The good will would appear to be there yet no reciprocated. He has been paid the best part of £7million by this club over the last few years. To be permitted to stay on half a million pounds per year when you have clearly breached your contract can only be considered generous.
The whole incident is shameful. The handling has been poor - in particularly the statement on the outcome - although I don't think I have seen anything official from DCFC as yet.
The full story never gets revealed as it is bound by confidentiality clauses and so newspapers, ITK's and other players will attempt to fill in the blanks. Some with truth. Some fallacy.
His actions represent gross misconduct based on his contract and his inability to perform his job due to his own poor decisions. That couldn't be clearer.

Usually the statement is put on the official website and subsequently tweeted out. It's just strange that the only way we've heard about is through journalists.

Would love to know how we could sack him and not the other two considering he wasn't even driving. I'm sure his lawyer would eat that one up. Or, y'know, shoddy journalism.

    El Camino last night. 5/10
Way too many flashbacks with little reason. I spent more of the film trying to remember episodes from over 5 years ago and wondering if there was some deeper meaning.

I still haven't figured out the purpose of the breakfast with Walter flashback. What did it add to the plot? If Walter has said go and study Business in Alaska that may have worked. It just seemed like they desperate to get WW in a scene.

I thought it was pretentious, predictable and felt like a movie made around a load of in jokes. It was well acted hower and it wasn't without the occasional Breaking Badesque moment such as the kidnappers choice of music for the drive back from his house and his entirely nonchalant demeanor. Especially defending his cleaner as being as honest as the day is long.

    Hope they end it there.

I agree. I thought El Camino was poor. Breaking Bad is the best series of all time, but this film seemed a little pointless, dull with an average ending. I think we could have imagined what happened to Jesse without the film.
As for the Joker - saw it today. What a film! Very dark, very violent at times, thought it should be an 18. Great music to go with the scenes, it will win numerous awards and rightly so!

I've never understood why some people rush to be at the front of the queue when they say it's time to board. Who wants to sit on a cramped plane for any longer than necessary. We tend to sit in the departure lounge and wait until the queue has nearly gone.

Wasn't good if I am being honest. Didn't post an update as I didn't want to create anything negative before the day and nothing I could do to change it.
So basically with Wembley you have to go via the club to request permission for large flags and drums etc. The drum was permitted and travelled on club transport which was sorted by them, it didnt get in though, so not happy with that outcome. Adam went to alot of effort to get it reskinned and ready. Last thing i wanted to be doing on the day was having to try and sort it considering we had it all arranged. It never got in though, so....
Okay back to the flag... So it was allowed in 5 years ago v QPR ... This time around Wembley insisted it was too small! All large flags that wish to be surfed had to be 12m x 12m or more. Now lets be honest, whats fan/s have a flag that big, practically no one. Why would you as well considering you wouldn't be able to take it around the country to league games, would be pointless. Club at this point decided to produce a club flag that was surfed at the game.
My take on it was that the flag has alot of history as well all know, 10 years with me, and previous to that a few years with John and Ramstrust. Very disappointing that the flag that we take home and away would not be allowed. I managed to speak to Wembley officials and was basically told same as before, not safe for such a small flag etc etc ... Dynamics of Wembley different blah blah ... Some of the stadiums i have setup and surfed flag in has been tough. Forest Green for one, or Birmingham when I was on the back row and had no space to sort but I did. So quite capable of surfing it and making sure it was held up, what I have done for the last 10 years for christ sake! Got no where with him and felt that the game was all about commercial and not the fans. Biggest game of season and they say no, just sums up football nowadays for me I am afraid, losing the love of it in honesty, far to much politics and stupid regulations.
Oh and it would have been a £500 fee to pay as well for a team from Wembley to assist. Like I would have needed. As fans we sort it. I dont need some contractors to tell us how to do it, fans know the score as we do it week in week out. Patronising against us fans it felt like.
Hope that explains it anyway folks! In a nutshell, the game has gone in many aspects.
