Has there ever been any game you didn’t think we were going to win?

Yes it’s that bloody game!
Yes there is a lot we can look at and dissect, how the players celebrated, how Jody Morris celebrated it, Lampard’s 11 in the play off final, Lampard’s failure in not getting that squad promoted, Morris’ spending gamble, the comparisons of then to now etc etc etc
But I can promise any Derby or other clubs fans reading this, I don’t think I’d trade you anything for the jubilation and emotions I felt that night. It didn’t mean anything in the end no, but it’s a game like this that watching football is all about. It’s not just an achievement feeling, it’s about doing the impossible

Funny how Im over the playoff disappointment already and quite excited about the next few weeks and next season.
If we had sneaked the playoffs I would now be feeling anxious about the risk of another Wembley disappointment.. Excited also I might add.
Maybe as I’m am middle aged I’m just happy when things aren’t going wrong. It feels a bit like things going right.

While there is a lot to do, how refreshing is it that we're sat on May 11th, estabished our retained list, know which division we're going to be in, know the budget and restrictions, when was it last like this?!?

Lewis Wing has left Wycombe. I’d be very surprised if we aren’t linked with him. He would be a very good signing - the difference in the two sides when we played them at their place. A real box to box midfielder coming into his prime years. 
Warne is a very public admirer of him too. 

How quickly the retained list comes out tells me that the plans have been in place for a while, which I really like. 

Had to be done. Curtis playing in the Championship finale against Wednesday, signing the waiver to do his bit, really demonstrated his commitment. Such an eloquent spokesman for the club, and always a great listen if lucky enough to be in hospitality when he's there.
And here he is on Wembley Way, discarded by Lampard but supporting the team and bonding with fans before the Villa game.

Shout out to Richard Stearman too, who I feel knew his role and played it very well, never letting us down.

It’s the right move for the club but I’m sad to see Curtis go. He’s a good man and an excellent pro. Hope to see him back in some capacity in the future.

Curtis off to Orient no doubt. It was time to go, but what a top man. He’s everything you could want as a captain through these last few years. Sunday has already been forgotten.

Sonny Bradley has announced he’s leaving Luton at the end of the season apparently.
It’s a strange one, he’s been one of the Championship’s better CBS of recent years and they have a real chance of getting to the PL.
I don’t for one second think we’d be able to get him here ahead of the other teams who will surely be interested, but he’d be some addition to our defence.
6’5, still ‘only’ 31, tons of experience throughout the league. Would be an excellent signing.

Well deserved and will bring some much needed stability to the club in what may be a busy transfer window.

Well deserved. What a season he's had. The only one of the older defensive guard I'd keep (with huge thanks to Curtis and Stearman, but there's no room for sentimentality). Bring in someone else in their mid-to-late 20s now we can buy players.

I think that was more about him heading to last years world Cup etc but I keep reading that he doesn't want to play at that level so if true then getting him off the books is probably the only viable option.

Todays announcement is wonderful news 

As others have mentioned, this is exciting not because we can go and spend loads but because we’re not limited to frees who’s agents don’t want a slice of the pie. 
The pool of players we are shopping in has suddenly got a lot younger! 

The best thing about missing the play-offs is we have more time to focus on our squad plans for next season.

Wait... does this mean that we can sign Cameron Brannagan now?!! 😎

This is absolutely brilliant news and gives us the freedom to finally rebuild the club for long term success. 
It isn’t always about relatively big money signings, but finding players who can grow and develop at the club. Players who have their future invested in the club doing well. 
It will be interesting to see how far we push the envelope, but ultimately it means we can start trading players and reinvest funds. The likes of Bird, Bielik and Knight can now be moved on with a benefit to ourselves.
