Good news. Even if the fee is used to pay off existing instalments, the fact we’ll have 30k off the wage bill would allow us to bring in 4 really good players at this level for the same outlay.

As someone said on the The Robins forum.
lf anyone has any ambition to get out of this league they can’t afford not to sign him.
Must be a target………..would send a strong message to League 1 contenders. 👍

I wonder how many Rams fans were inspired when we signed Bobby Davison from Halifax, he wasn’t too bad in the end was he

A lot of people keep saying collins had a bad season, but then say we need more people chipping in with 10+ goals. Didn’t he do just that?

    Couldn't agree more with this.
I said when we signed Collins that his seasons scoring goals at this level was when he played in a front 2.
It became apparent quite early on that he isn't a target man and really can't play up top on his own.
You cannot question his work rate at all. Infact, I felt at times last season that he needed to be more selfish and get in the box more. But he tended to drift to deep to try and get involved. I can't really remember him ever missing a sitter or us creating a load of chances for him in a game.
If Warne plays 352 next season. I really do think Collins could thrive. I wouldn't write him off at all just yet.

If we sold Knight, Bird and Bielik, and replaced them with Clarke Harris, May, Brannigan and say Bonnis I think that’s good business and fills some gaps we’re severely lacking.

I was reading some of the Rotherham opinions regarding Vickers. Initially I thought he would just be Wildsmith’s back-up and an upgrade on McGee. A lot of the opinions from Millers are that Vickers is too good to be an understudy in the Championship, let alone League 1. He’s been unfortunate in the sense that he’s behind Johansson who is one of the better keepers in the Championship, but why leave one bench to sit on another?
He’s a player who Warne & his coaches know well. He played 20 times in Rotherham’s last promotion season.
I think Wildsmith played too well last year to just be replaced, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Vickers does end up displacing him. I haven’t seen too much of him, but he seems highly regarded for a keeper that hasn’t played too much for the club he’s just left.

Think this is what Warne meant when he was talking about the character of the player (as well as ability). By all accounts he’s a good character, dressing room leader at Hull, and will bring that with him as well as experience and ability to play. Pleased with this.

Really, really like this signing. A very accomplished footballer, who has been excellent at this level and suits this system. He didn’t really drop in his performance levels when going up to the championship either, so I don’t see any regression, other than it’s a much more difficult league.
He’ll be much improved on the Haydon Roberts, Louie Sibley left back play of 22/23 and gives us a real high quality player at a key position.

I'll be honest... Don't have a clue about him. All I know is when I was a kid, I was taught you should always respect his family (for some reason)

@Big Trav some of us on here really appreciate the bits of info you pass on mate 👍🏻 and understand that things change in football, so some things won’t 100% happen. I for one enjoy the excitement you bring by the things you hear and let us know 🍻 any more news of any signings tomorrow?

Or I hear stuff and instead of gatekeeping it, I want to share with my fellow rams fans. It’s never going to be 100% correct because things change. But to call me insecure and lonely is just a bit rude to be honest

Do we honestly think PW and team watched and assessed Ward and thought ‘He’s a bit average but we’ll have him anyway?’
They will have seen potential and an attitude they liked. He has pace and, I suspect, fits into their plan.

So whoscored, a site that people love to bang the drum of on here due to how highly it rates the Cash, has him as the second highest rated RWB from last season behind Wes Burns at Ipswich. He had a higher G+A output than Bali Mumba who was in team of the season. With Burns going up and Mumba going back to Norwich, we've statistically signed the best RWB still in the division from last season. Furthermore he was in the EFL team of the season when Peterborough were promoted in the 20/21.

This is an excellent signing. We've signed a high performing player with promotion experience in this division in a role that was a massive problem area for us. On a free too. I'm very surprised so many people lukewarm to cold about this.

On paper it's a good signing and ticks all the boxes as a right wing back in a 3-5-2.
I'll judge his performances in a Derby shirt myself rather than rely on Posh fans, thanks. I've seen enough decent Derby players getting hammered by our own fans to not rely on other people's opinions.
