Asanovic70 got a reaction from LeedsCityRam in The Administration Thread
Steve Nicholson replied to one of yesterday's Q&A that the exclusivity period may be extended again.
He made a wry reply when asked if Ashley was still in the background, along the lines of 'Has he ever been away?' I think @LeedsCityRam summed it up, however. Ashley may be a billionaire, but his finances are probably complicated etc, and in the end he is a hard nosed businessman, he won't recoup anything on us unless we do reach the PL, vis a recent offer for Sheff United. It's the game-changer/gamble that Morris believes it to be but he went the wrong way about it. Ashley was able to run Newcastle the way he did (prudently) through that PL revenue rather than his own money.
CK appears genuine, but is an unknown quantity. MA an unsentimental businessman, but whose approach may be better suited to a club with more modest ambitions than Newcastle's. Heart says CK, head says MA. If only Mel had had a bit more Mike Ashley about him & had sat in the stand in a Derby shirt & a pint in his hand.
I think liquidation won't happen, but if it is MA instead of CK, then we may suffer more points deductions. I hope it's resolved soon (understatement). It's galling to see Chelsea being bought for £4.25bn, to think £45m would purchase us & Pride Park, just over 1% of that offer for Chelsea. I know it is much more complicated than that (London real estate prices).
And then you have Jim Ratcliffe banging on about a British bid for a British club. He owns Nice in Ligue 1 which he bought for £91m. He could have a 'British club' for peanuts in comparison.

We don’t know what Ashley’s plan would be, most people are assuming he will pay Mel and minimal amount to the creditors resulting in -15, some say we’ll be a Phoenix club in league 2 - this in my opinion won’t happen as there is no way enough of the 72 clubs will vote it through. Personally I think -15 is likely with Ashley but we’re speculating. But we’re not speculating about his interest in the club, this is out there through reputable journalists, and I heard his people (Lee Charnley) have had meetings with local councillors. He wouldnt be doing that if he didn’t want the club. If CK fails I fully expect Ashley will conclude a deal.
Is MA owning the club a good thing, I don’t know possibly long term but the sheer fact it would mean adding more time to the process Rooney and players leaving, add in a possible -15 points, we could end up with at least a couple of years down there, whereas conclude this quickly and we still have the massive momentum from this season which quite possibly has been the most positive relegation of all time.

To be fair they did win a bit but it was only 10 years after the Titanic sank and a mere 20 years after our admin promised we'd be 'surprised how quick things would now move and the stadium was no impediment' . They are however, as insufferable as West Ham ' we won the World Cup' fans in terms of delusion. West Ham probably being a bit worse as they really have won f**k all and have done it in a stadium everyone paid for ( for those who constantly bang on about how insufferable it is that Derby don't pay the exchequer every penny owed and public funds can't be used to deal with a ground purchase.)

The only updates we’ve had this week is confirmation of some local businessmen trying to do a deal for PP, a hint CK may be doing something similar, and a tweet from CK saying he hopes to get this done ahead of when his exclusivity expires. We also know Ashley is waiting if it fails.
It looks like we’re going to have a club to support which many doubted, the only thing is now will next season be a promotion push or a relegation battle and that all depends on who buys the club and how much longer this drags on. For that reason I hope CK gets it done.

Asanovic70 got a reaction from RoyMac5 in Festy Ebosele - Signed for Udinese
Disappointed at Ebosele & his exit, he burst onto the scene, then there was the link to Forest, and relief that he stayed. On the one hand, I understand his decision, the on-going instability at the club, playing in L1, though that didn't do Wes Morgan any harm, a big useless lump who went on to win a PL title.
Ebosele has joined Udinese, exciting as that sounds, he may end up at Watford. If so, he should look at what has happened to Jeremy Ngakia. Ngakia broke into the West Ham side. Understandably, he was perhaps annoyed at then being offered £5k a week (according to reports), before he opted to move to Watford on a free. If he had kept up his level of performances, West Ham are likely to have offered him improved terms. He would have played under a manager known to nurture young players.
What Ebosele may have gained, leaving a basket-case of a club, he may find that he has joined something similar in terms of on the football pitch. How many managers has Ngakia had? Has he really kicked on or developed? Has anyone at Watford taken the same level of interest as Moyes & the West Ham coaching staff did with him? Look at Ben Foster's criticism of his Watford teammates. It sounds like an environment where a young player can sink rather than swim if there isn't anyone to look out for him/mentor him, vis a Curtis Davies etc.
It remains to be seen whether Rooney stays if the takeover drags on, but he'd probably have been a better person to develop under than at Watford with their serial managerial changes & lack of continuity. In fact, Glenn Murray said on 5live that he couldn't even remember the name of one of the managers he played under when he was on loan at Watford.

Asanovic70 reacted to KBB in The Administration Thread
People go on about Ashley not spending money and trying to get things on the cheap. Fair enough, but I tell you one thing though, if he owned us we wouldn't be cashing in sell on fees for a few hundred grand to keep us for deaths door or letting players go for peanuts when we previously thought they were our golden eggs. Being hard nosed can work for you.
I'm not saying I'm backing Ashley.
I'm at the point where I couldn't care who gets the club now. I just want a club to support. That's where we are at. The fact we have anyone willing to try and sort out this mess, to me, is nothing short of a miracle and any party trying to save this club has my full support.

Think ultimately even if next season doesn’t see us go up we’ll be back up within 3.
Can we appreciate that Rotherham regularly come straight back up and they’re dreadful.

Asanovic70 reacted to TigerTedd in Promotion rivals watch
Our realistic goal is that we aim to be challenging for promotion. We might not succeed, but it’ll be a pretty disappointing season if we’re not at least in the conversation.
-
Asanovic70 reacted to Comrade 86 in Promotion rivals watch
What promotion party would that be?
Honestly, I'm getting pretty sick of patronising posts like these from fans who feel the need to reality check everyone who posts anything remotely upbeat. And FWIW, I've not seen a single post, not one, where the poster in question suggests we're going to walk the league. Even if I had, I'd not feel the need to qualify it with a 'healthy does of realism', especially after the season we've just had.
Frankly, I think many of us have had all the 'realism' we can stomach right now. In any instance, my guess would be that the only party the vast majority are contemplating will be the one occurring if or when the takeover is confirmed.

Rams fans didn’t warm to Pearson , perhaps because he was born in Nott’m. But then again Rowett is not very popular and he was supposed to be a die hard Ram.Their style of management is very similar - they know how to get the best out of a striker.

I am sure Colin Gibson has sensationalised it slightly but shows the measure of Chris Powell as a man that he accepted that nonsense from Morris.
A season that summed up Morris’ entire ownership. Complete and utter incompetence from start to finish

Asanovic70 got a reaction from jimtastic56 in Let's not be "that club"
Yes, I agree, which explains Rooney's sense of urgency about the situation. I do think this squad needs more experience, however, the right sort of experience, and sometimes the sort of unheralded player who has been there & done it, i.e. Richie Smallwood (Rotherham, Hull). Sean Flynn under Jim Smith. Their tenure may be brief but they make a telling contribution, helping to get the side over the line.
The platform is there, a ball-playing side with an identity can get out of the division (Swansea). Forest appointed Calderwood, whose career since has been checkered, but he molded a side built on Academy players & shrewd acquisitions. I'd like to think Rooney - should he stay - is smart enough to know League 1 & we were linked to Charles pre-season. We'll probably have to play the loan market well, too.
I agree with your point about Ashley . I think the Council's offer/overtures to buy the ground & lease it back to the club could be key. It may be the decisive factor helping to facilitate any takeover.
-

All the very best for the coming season and beyond.I hope Rooney sticks by you with a decent owner on board he has a good a chance as anybody to get you back up.Your fans have been superb through this crap period.Things can change very quick in football and sometimes for the better, look at us in the so called best league in the world the Premier league for another season.Although my opinion of the PL ( I’ve missed 2 games this season )is it’s the fatal attraction of clubs who risk everything to get to the tv cash when for us fans it’s a bland predictable bore fest unless you are a top 4 club the rest just make up the numbers.I won’t shed a tear when we eventually get back to the championship a far better and more competitive league to play in.Hope to be playing you at Pride Park again soon.
