Cluster bomb approach.
Enquire about everyone so no one thinks you're desperate for their players.
We can't sign them all. Will be interesting to see which ones stick.

Detectorists is fabulous. I really didn't want to say goodbye to them.

Must be a difficult decision for young players and their families to make, especially if they are struggling financially in the first place.
4x salary is a big upgrade for anyone and if you really are that good, you could be playing for one if the top teams in the country within a couple of years.
But it also possibly means uprooting your family or having to do loads of travelling. You know your chances of getting into the first team at Derby are much higher/have already happened. You might even score a few goals this season and get a proper good contract, with either us or a bigger club who buys you.
What sort of money are kids on when they sign pro terms?

Very good point and likely to get worse as a result of Brexit. Big clubs were able to bring in good kids from the continent now that will not be the case anymore. As a result If their age group is not great they'll need to get young British kids and good category 1 academy like ours when the club is inot in the PLwill be the first port of call i would have thought. It stinks but money talks.

I think the problem is that the first team have not kept pace with the academy success.
If we could offer a path to Premier League football, then it would be easier to keep hold of them.

Is this not exactly what we are currently doing? Today we had 3 academy players starting with another 6 on the bench - how much more can we do to show to young players we have a clear route to our first team?

Hmmm not a fan of this happening - yet not a major surprise as top premiership clubs can no longer steal the youngsters from Europe so ll eyes are on who produces them in England

I'm interested to see why AC Milan were so keen to bring him in, seems like a massive risk for a team who are potentially close to winning the league for the first time in forever. I did a quick google search on the Milan manager and he was apparently a very fast ball playing defender in his playing days and wants defenders to push high up the pitch and join in with the attack.
Sounds tailor made for Tomori, wish him all the best.

Watched all 4 series of The Bridge on it-player. Brilliant stuff . The main character Saga Noran is intriguing and sexy . Ps it’s subtitled but strangely I loved that about it , made me concentrate more ,

Almost as important as paying the players is freeing ourselves of a transfer embargo - barely a week left of this transfer window.

Bellingham had signed a Pro contract. That's the difference. Since this kid won't sign with us, this is the best we can do.

I like Would I lie to You but, in my opinion, Not Going Out jumped the shark a long tome ago.

I was thinking this earlier in the season, but we shouldn't try Craig Forsyth at centre forward or David Marshall in defensive midfield. ?

therealhantsram got a reaction from Zag zig in Keogh
A final thought I had... the fact that Matt Shrimper got the exclusive on this does make me wonder who has been feeding him all the anti-Derby stories he has been writing over the last 18 months. Mmmmm ?

therealhantsram got a reaction from Zag zig in Keogh
A couple of interesting things in this.
1. Keogh lost his first appeal with the EFL. I don't think that has been reported anywhere else before.
2. Keogh has won this appeal but the Employment Tribunal verdict is that club and Keogh should reach a settlement.
As I understand it, the Tribunal only have powers to award the plaintiff up to £25k. Hence the win for Keogh is kinda hollow. They are just telling both parties to have some common sense and make your own agreement.

So the stuff about (up to) £2m is actually £25k is indeed up to...?!
The second appeal win could be based on 'process' rather than as everyone here seems to be arguing 'who is right/wrong'?

But it didn't though. The event happened in 2019.
