DCFC1388 2,585
So if the 3 lads joined at U9 and are now 14 3 years × £3000 = £9000 3 years x £40000 =£120000 So could possibly be looking at £129k for each player If we are negotiating it could be for a decent combined fee plus add ons & sell ons

therealhantsram 2,249
There was word that the group of under 16s at Derby are incredible. Be a sad day if they are poached.
Uptherams 2,153
They must be highly rated. Therefore the terms for us need to be very favourable with clauses. Question is, what are they offering in exchange right now?
RamLad1884 1,629
We're saying United are poaching our youngsters... potentially rather there assisting the club with Rooney in charge i. e. Inflated fees jono

If this turns out to be true then the club need to bring in some advisors. We are clearly developing an awful lot of talent and we need to put a stop to these players being poached for pennies. It's simply not good enough. Gee SCREAMER !!, Abu Derby and I know nothing 2

Its how it works unfortuantly, until a player can sign a pro deal at 17 this is how it is. The compensation structure is there to help pay. We did the same to Swindon for Bogle & JML

If all of our current academy players were at another club, that club would probably pocket £20m+ were is we are lucky if we get 20% of that. It's not good enough. rammieib 3,399
I bet any parent can’t wait for having to do the extra 150 miles round trip five times a week when there is a proven academy on their door step. Fraser_23

Why would a club pay that much for players that they can take a club to a tribunal amd pay the deciding fee. Lots of young players move around clubs, we signed Knight at a similar age from an Irish club. The only young player who has gone for big money is Bellingham, I cant think of any others? You are looking at it through the prism of minors. Many clubs have kept hold of players, given them opportunities in the first team and then sell. We need to get better at enthasising there is a clear route to the first team. When they make it and a bigger and better opportunity comes, the club will assist in helping the player choose that right opportunity. That we won't treat them like a hostage. This move for these lads could end up being a huge step backward because as we all know, our academy sides are full of players stepping into an advanced age group. These lads are most likely in that situation and end up in a matter of weeks being shoved back in Man United's academy, playing with the same age group again.
Sparkle 6,258
Hmmm not a fan of this happening - yet not a major surprise as top premiership clubs can no longer steal the youngsters from Europe so ll eyes are on who produces them in England therealhantsram

Is this not exactly what we are currently doing? Today we had 3 academy players starting with another 6 on the bench - how much more can we do to show to young players we have a clear route to our first team?
