  1. I don't know if it's already been talked about, but how exactly do they calculate the xG for a particular shot? It's being stated that it's the probability that a player in x position, with goalkeeper and defenders in various positions, is going to score a goal. How are those positions calculated? Is there someone at the match calculating each opportunity? Is all done via cameras? Is there a super computer that actually does the calculation? Or is it some geek who decides "ooooh, I'll mark that as a 0.75467423577 xG because that striker's really good and the defending team are rubbish"?

I’ve had a think about this, opened myself up to the counter arguments and I’ve come to the conclusion I am still correct.

    Said the great man himself

*each one can make their own minds up as to who the great man is

It is wonderful, I would say though don't spoil it by going to see him live. I've done it three times now and he has been less than average on each occasion.

Yes I heard years ago that his live performances range from incredible to atrocious.

The first one is giveable. The second one however...

Can we just go back to 'deliberate handball'

Can we just go back to the rules as they were in the early seventies? And can referees referee the game in the same way. From what I remember they had far more respect from the players. The players kicked the 💩 out of each other, then got up, got on with the game, then had a pint together afterwards. Actual violence between players seemed rare (cue Franny vs Norman video). Hopefully it would also level out the league with prima dona players less protected from being touched and "having every right to go down".

    Wilson isn't a right back, he's a wing back

A player who plays on the right hand side, whose duties are to defend when the opposition have the ball, but attack when we have the ball. A right back who plays a little further forward given the opportunity. Or are you saying that he is a winger who has to defend when necessary?

They would have been better off saying look, the next SCG meeting is in March and these are the questions we are submitting and the reason for these is that.

Might have seen the same reaction, what do I know, no PR firm would hire me after my performance following the last meeting I attended!

It's just writing an Open Letter, from a prominent supporters group puts the club in a position where they need to respond at a time where they may not feel ready to communicate.

Ultimately it looks like it worked as yeah, the transfer window, budgets and why no striker will probably be the basis of the interview. Transfer windows usually conclude with some kind of letter from the CEO/Owner when things may not have gone to plan which clearly they haven't.

Just don't really understand though why not wait, wait for the SCG which is intended to be the arena for the club to answer fans concerns. Had the next one been say summer on wards or not even scheduled, would get it.

Anyhow, as I say earlier, fair play to them for holding their hands up.

Reading the replies would suggest it's not just the timing but the sentiment, getting hammered for not representing individuals, which you will always get regardless.

There will be fans out there that would appreciate answers to their questions and the reason for so many fan groups is to capture the wider opinion. Which they are entitled to have one, as we all are.

My guess (and it's probably rubbish) is that the club is perhaps trying to allay fans fears etc. before the SCG meeting so that the atmosphere is a little better at the start. If some go there with an agenda then it could all be a little heated at the start. Let everyone know beforehand that there are certain questions that can't be answered for legal reasons. Perhaps explain beforehand also what was achieved and what wasn't, and why, during the transfer window. Was it felt more important to retain certain players already on the books? Why was Bird's transfer handled as it was? Why didn't we bring in the striker that so many (all) felt was of upmost importance?

  7. I think that we all "knew" that there were NDAs in place. Stephen Pearce is not going to disclose any information about the workings until Mel Morris. He certainly isn't going to say that "Mad Mel forced me to do this or that, even though I knew that it would lead us to where we ended up". He is only going to tell us how the club has worked since Morris said that he was closing his wallet for good. I'm not going to say that I trust David Clowes to do the right thing for the club (even though I do honestly believe that everything he does will be with that intention), just as I have never ever thought that I trust a manager to bring in the right players. Each person within the club will do their utmost to make Derby County succeed, because it will mean that they prosper personally. Each person will have different levels of love for our club, and David Clowes obviously loves this club as much as our beloved @B4ev6is, but he will want success more than anything so that he doesn't lose his family's fortune.

Anyway, back to Stephen Pearce. David Clowes believes that he is the right man for the job. Whether he should take some of the blame for what happened only a very select few will know, but he is I'm sure doing his best to get the club back on very secure footing. Just don't expect him in public to dish the dirt. That won't happen until many years have passed.
