My grandmother and uncles lived on Douglas Street, Normanton, which is about 800 yards from the BBG, and whenever I stayed with her I'd watch the fans walk to the ground in the 1950's, sitting on the Grange Pub wall with my bottle of pop & packet of crisps, and I could hear the roar of the crowd from that distance and wondered what it was all about.
Well, it's 60 years, this year, (January 1962) since I first stood in the Boys End/corner of the BBG, aged 9 years old and although it was only a reserve game against Bolton Wanderers, I can remember it as if it was yesterday.
My Dad was was an ex-Polish para, who came to live in Derby in 1947, and along with his other Polish mates, and they didn't have much money for entertainment, so the only thing they could afford was the pub or going to the match and although he didn't go to every game he always enjoyed his football. So, it was my Dad who took me and my brother a few months later, in April 1962, to my first team game and I was hooked for life, and, subsequently, wherever I've worked in the world (Middle East; S.E. Asia; America), I've taken The Rams with me, always looking for their results, especially difficult in the USA where all the results they publish are baseball, basketball or American 'football'.
Working in the middle of a Saudi Arabian airfield was fun (!!) and trying to pickup the BBC World Service game and results, through the atmospherics, on a Saturday afternoon, wasn't always clear, especially when you was listening for the Derby result and it went something like,... 'Derby 2, Forest .......and all you then heard over the airwaves for the next few minutes was static and crackle!!!!
I've worked with many nationalities, especially in the middle east, and football is a main topic of conversation amongst many of the Arab men, and whenever I've mentioned that I'm from Derby and a Rams fan, many of them knew of the Clough & Taylor teams and players, as well as the Jim Smith teams, as by then satellite television was beaming the Premier matches overseas.
Over the 60 years of supporting my only club, I've seen the very highs and the lowest of lows, particularly now; I've watched some of the very best of English football with amazing players of international standards, and some awful 'duffers' and 'has-beens' who should have never been bought.
Whatever happens this week, and surely to God, Derby County Football Club will survive and eventually go on to better days, I am so proud to have supported my home town/city club who have given me so much pleasure (and despair) over the past 60 years.

It's one thing to always support a single team but I think it's perfectly OK to watch your local team as well if you do not live anywhere near your club.
Indeed, I'm from Ilford and lived in Waterlooville and Luton before I chose my team in 1976
When I lived near Southampton (Bursledon) in the late 70's - mid 80's  I was at Junior/Senior school and I watched a lot of games at The Dell.
When I moved to Bognor (17 - 22) and Worthing (23- 51) I spent some time watching Brighton at the Goldstone Ground.
Now I live in Derby so all good ?

I have never changed my allegiance or felt any desire to, unlike my brother who went from West Ham > Bolton and then Man City. To be fair to him, he did end up with City in his early teens so he has seen the League 1 days.

If you had the capital putting in a lower offer like Carlise Capital has and just buying the badge make some sense.
With all investments its about risk and your appetite for it. Derby has high potential as a club in relative terms but with the risk of up to £51mil in possible claims against it.
By putting an actual offer of 28mil you force everyone's hand as a club is now in jeopardy. The next is to deal with the boro and WW claims through arbitration. Which if its ruled in our favor (which many people assume) means you have the club at a good price. Leave Mel to stew on his useless assets a little while longer which are worthless without the club itself and put in a low offer for the remaining assets to complete the set.
Easy as that. We beat Cardiff on the final day of the season to stay in the Championship and live happily ever after.

Maybe a mod could create a new thread with the timeline? Tidy it up and edit it when someone identifies something else worth adding?
Then the link can be shared on Twitter.

How about Derby fans getting to their next home game whilst we don't have a fixture. Take the flag and make some noise for a fellow club who's been through what we're going through.
    Show unity.

I'd 100% back an annual friendly (even if it was our U18s/U23s) with all proceeds going to them to help them get back into the Football League

We live to fight another day!
Last minute change of plan for our biscuit factory.
Our current owners, Two Sisters Food Group, have sold us to a company named Boparan Private Office. Mr. Boparan is also owner of the aforementioned business.....think Mel Morris.......

We face a major restructure but seem to have secured extra business with various retailers alongside a price increase for our products and a promise of some investment.

It's just reached the point of pure embarrassment, from Boro, Wycombe and the EFL.
All those rival fans that are finding joy in all this when they could easily be next, wake up.
The game is littered with utter BS, we tried to find a different way with amortisation to compete with those awarded millions for failure, which the EFL retrospectively on Gibson's request found us guilty.
    Naughty Derby, grow up.
Rules have been retrospectively added to cover the EFL arses. Google enhanced embargo, see what comes up, Derby County, there was never a enhanced embargo before all this, it's something you came up with as Mel Morris publicly challenged you.
Meanwhile we have state owned clubs when sponsorships for official hotels, soaps and rubber ducks for 10x what they could buy this club for in the Premier League.
Do you not even realise how anti competitive the league that's responsible for your revenue is, do you not realise that the very existence of the Championship relies on multi millionaires prepared to be losing upwards of half a million a month, it's not sustainable even by your own rules.
Derby County reject a bid for their player which could be derisory, yet the EFL are on our case, are we in the position now where we have to sell Jason Knight for a fiver to keep Rick Parry happy, if that's the case then just end the game now.
We lost Kaide Gordon to Liverpool for a bag of monster munch and Freddo over that deal you agreed with the PL, how is that looking after your member clubs when they have to gift wrap the young stars that have been educated both on an off the field to satisfy the greed of the top 6 in this country.
Explain the benefit of that deal to your member clubs, please explain as from the fans that love the game, all we see is our clubs being screwed over.
Out of 2 play off finals which we were beaten, we were beaten by clubs that would have failed EFL FFP, we took it on the chin yet here we are, one club using bookies odds to build a case and another that didn't even earn promotion on merit jeopardising the existence of this club.
Meanwhile the MSM are far more interested in the likes of Man United and Newcastle to even realise what is going on outside the gold pit. The game is dying whilst the "journalists" are far more interested in finding the next tweet to create a clickbait article than actually do their jobs.
Nobody wants to touch it, why? We have a Serbian tennis player refused entry to a country and tournament, everyone, every journalist in sport is weighing in as we're sat here in limbo over let's not forget, retrospective punishment.
The EFL signed off our accounts that we have now been punished for, let that sink in.
I'm sick of it, sick of the rival fans looking to take the piss without understanding the situation, sick of the incompetent governing bodies, sick of Gibson and that Wycombe numpty.
We've rolled over, accepted the retrospective punishment, saved the EFL embarrassment of explaining themselves in court, yet the EFL are too gutless to tell the curly haired one to shut up as they are in fear of landing themselves in court over the utter shambolic way they have ran this league.
Grow some balls Rick, accept some responsibility over how the investigations were handled and do the right thing, tell Gibson to F off, tell Wycombe to F off and learn from your mistakes.
