And yet it rarely is. Imagine if Forest had cut Steve Cooper last season when the more rabid fans were demanding precisely that? Since you’ve mentioned Forest, by my quick count, they had 13 permanent managers in the decade before sacking Hughton. How’d that work for them?

NB: It’s also worth pointing out the difference records between Hughton’s tenure at Forest and Warne’s at Derby. Has Warne been great? I’m not suggesting he has been but it’s a bit bloody early throw out yet another manager.

I would add its possible to follow Derby home and away, finances for me mean STH and half the away, and still not be a massive fan of Warne.
Once I step through those turnstiles I'm 100% behind the team, having a different opinion doesn't make anyone less of a fan.

Chris hughton had overseen a run of 1 point from 7 games playing some of the most boring football forest fans had seen. It was obvious it had to go. We are not even close to being at that stage with Warne. You are jumping the gun.

I voted to review at Christmas time, if the performances and results have not improved much (like I expect that they will) then there's still time to rescue a play off place with a management change.
As things stand I'm still firmly "Warne In" but the standard of performance certainly needs to improve.

EssendonRam reacted to Gringo in My thoughts if I was David Clowes
The decision on Warne's future is a little way off being made yet, but putting myself in David Clowes position my thought process would be as follows.
The results have been poor and the performances worse, and the fans are going apoplectic, however being logical about this I need to not knee jerk into making a rash decision.
I may have underestimated the challenge facing Warne, but his previous track record in getting out of this division was excellent and I should trust my initial judgement, but if things don't improve the crowds will drop and that will be a financial and personal disaster.
The manager needs to understand how serious his and the clubs position is and he needs to be given a set of targets he has to hit to avoid the termination of his role these should be,
An immediate improvement in performances, team structure and tactics. 4 wins in next 10 games minimum  No more stupid press interviews Crowds must not drop below 20,000, this should not be a problem if 1. is rectified Any fall into the relegation zone will be instant termination I have always found that people work best if they understand what is required of them and they know the owners expectations, I would suggest there have been conversations already and the bar man at last chance saloon is pouring a last drink.
I write this with having a reputation of being intolerant of poor performing subordinates and of course I might be wrong on this occasion.

Approach the closest steward and they’ll hopefully address it on the spot. If they don’t, write to the club and explain the situation. I’d be surprised if there’s not something in the rules around behaviour standards in the family areas; there certainly are at Australian sporting venues. We even have an antisocial behaviour hotline advertised on scoreboards so supporters can report such behaviour less obviously.
For the record, I concur with the other comments in the thread; as someone who occasionally swears rather badly, that’s one thing I try never to do; swear in the vicinity of others’ kids. It’s just not on.

It's always a hard call - call it off early enough to save everyone the trip, but risk it becoming playable but KO time or wait and try to get it on, but then end up calling off at the last moment and everyone is raging about it. Ultimatly, the decision has to be based on if a Neil Warnock team is involved and if you have a keep player out.

Looks like they've been doing their homework.  Don't know who this guy is but we've got a double agent in the groundsmans portacabin feeding them pitch information
Is Derby's pitch heated...it ought to be as its ex Premier league......
Pride Park is a modern stadium facility with a seating capacity just short of 33,600. The pitch is a Mansfield Sand Fibresand construction, with the top 100mm being fibre rootzone overlaying a medium sand profile that sits on a stone carpet drainage layer. There is undersoil heating at a depth of 250mm and 300mm apart
    Yes.
It's got around 17 miles or understand soil heating.
Obviously the decoding went slightly off kilter on the second enigma machine report.

Is this not just football? I mean we’re not out here employing the likes of Klopp and Guardiola, there will always be debates on every appointment with some not understanding why we went there.
We don’t have the best track record ourselves, look at the Pearson appointment, by far the most popular at the time. Couple of months later everyone is questioning why we went there.
For what it’s worth, I think it’s kinda obvious why we went for a manager with a great track record in getting teams promoted from League 1. It’s a dogfight down here, was never going to be attractive football.
We’re not here to establish ourselves as a League 1 side, nor are we building a team for the future with loans and free transfers. We risk losing some of our young talent in the summer if we don’t go up.
Clowes clearly thought Warne gives us a better chance of promotion than Rosenior, we can all sit here and agree or disagree yet it’s only one opinion that really matters, Clowes. His money, his decisions.

As much as I dislike the Paul Warne appointment, I'm not going to start ranting and raving about Mr Clowes no matter what. He saved our club from extinction. The man should have his own statue and street named after him. I'm forever grateful to the man.
He might mistakes, as every owner does, he's the best owner in the country as far as I'm concerned.

Just to clarify...I am not criticizing David Clowes for anything, including communication. I will forever be grateful for what he's done.
Nor am I expecting a direct response from him to those questions.
The reason for my original post was, and it's clear to anyone reading this forum, there is a lack of agreement or even understanding on the managerial appointment.
Surely, it would be nice for everyone to have a better idea of the club's overall strategy and direction. I do not think that's too much to ask. And asking it does not diminish my gratitude to DC for saving the club.

He wasn't 'sacked' per se, he was interim manager for a reason. Clowes wanted his own man. It's done. Over. Move on. I just find this whole comparison with Rosenior very bizarre especially after only a few games of Warne.

EssendonRam reacted to Day in Tactics. Warne vs Rosenior
Exactly. So how Rosenior set us up is pretty irrelevant now. Clowes didn’t want him so we move on.
If fans continue to voice their displeasure, results don’t turn around, Warne is shown the door, I think you can pretty much guarantee Rosenior will not be returning.
    He’s gone, it’s done.
Style of football poll in general without naming managers, something totally different, but at the end of the day we all know results trump style for a large percentage.
We beat Port Vale, Ipswich and Exeter, the talk today would be which players should we be signing ready for the Championship, not how boring this style of football is.

Level of communication? What was communicated to me loud and clear was the new owner was prepared to use a massive chunk of his own money to save the club that was on the verge of extinction, that’s all the communication I need for a while and I don’t really feel I should be demanding more especially to allow me to pick apart his plans to move us forward away from the cliff edge

The forum is much better than social media platforms. There are actually some good posts on here and often you can have a proper discussion about football. Twitter is a cesspit.

Not sure how the forum can be seen as counter productive, at the end of the day it's just a bunch of fans opinions. It's no worse or better on other social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.
The novelty factor was always going to wear off as frustration crept in, the we're just happy to have a club feeling was never going to last forever and we're now back to the we're Derby County, we should be beating teams like Exeter.
I have to be honest, I'm enjoying reading the football arguments over what is happening on the pitch, not off the pitch with finances and football laws. This is what football should be about.

During the anguish abour the survival of DCFC, the content of this forum was fantastic - a tribute to the club's traditions and the fanbase.
I doubt the Samaritans could have done a better job in comforting the many loyal fans deeply anguished by events and the possible liquidation of one of the beating hearts of the Derby and Derbyshire community.
This forum also created and published many calls to action nationally and locally which attracted so many favourable headlines and must have played their part in the eventual rescue of the Club.
Our national prestige soared, generated a lot of national sympathy and support, and led to tremendous gates and match support even when we lost.
However, since LR was replaced by PW, I wonder if I am alone in noticing a downward spiral in the objectives and quality of some contributions. Yes, we are all entitled to our opinions, but do we not need to temper the expression of them by considering the effect on the DCFC owner, staff and players who are becoming the target of some vitriol?
Some of us seem to forget our debt to our new owner. And seem to forget the laborious keep-ball of LR which we had endured for more than the current season and which had led to so many away defeats and the inability even to score a goal for match after match.
This forgetfulness is accompanied by totally unrealistic expectations of what the new owner and manager should achieve. And ignorance of just how effective League 1 opposition can be when pumped up by the adrenalin of facing the high and not so mighty DCFC.
It is sadly well known that social media can inflict a lot of harm on its targets. For the sake of our Club and those on its payroll and the person who bankrolls our payroll, may I plead for some moderation and realism please?

Personally I don't see why we need to grill the guy that SAVED the club from extinction,  just be grateful we have a club, as a fan he's not going to do anything knowingly that will damage us, so he doesn't need to 'fob' us off as some have said, he's done his bit, now it's up to us to do ours and support the team
