What you've said is fine haha, I was being deliberately flippant because I think a fair few people massively overreact about Warne when we lose a game.
I'm just sick of reading the 'PE Teacher' comments and similar, from people literally not even qualified to lace up his boots. I acknowledge he knows far more about football than I ever will, this self awareness seems to be severely lacking in some.

I take your point. To the media, Warne seems to front up and accept responsibility for losses, i'd hope it's the same behind closed doors. The second part about belief in tactics is a tricky one as we'll likely never have a definitive answer.
I think the Cheltenham game next up is huge. It's an easier game on paper (no games are ever easy though) and one where I'm not sure 3 points alone is adequate if we're serious about promotion. We need a proper performance that rebuilds confidence and potentially sets us on another run. This is going to require solid man management and motivation from Warne to achieve- I hope he does and we can start to rebuild form.

Interesting you mention creative writing as the rest of your comment here is pure fiction...
Good players will not misplace simple passes, regardless of the tactics imposed by the manager. See mistakes last night. Don't use reductionism to absolve the players themselves of any wrongdoing, that's daft.

Sorry mate but that's absolutely ridiculous. You can blame Warne for certain things but players not being able to play simple passes is not on him.
Hourihane last night had two where all he needs to do is slip Wilson in down the right and he's in acres and passed both out of play.
Players have to take a certain amount of responsibility also. The quality of balls in and the final third were atrocious, so was the decision making.

We can compete on a technical level, but not on a physical level.
With Bird and Hourihane, they are a dream for an opposing midfield that is athletic and can cover ground, press, crowd the ball, force mistakes, win aerial battles and win second balls.
I don’t think Warne wants to bypass midfield. It’s obviously an area that is costly and difficult to improve and one where he is  hoping it’s a case of damage limitation.
He obviously wants them to move the ball quickly not because he is control averse but because it’s an area for the opposition to exploit. A loss of possession in the middle of the pitch can lead to a quick counter attack and a chance to score.

Which I haven't done at any stage, I've actually been fairly careful in pointing out proper criticism always has its place. But a reminder that footballer's are human, and experience emotional responses to public criticism is important. I think it's easy to forget how public some online spaces are, and that awareness was what I was alluding to. If people had a quick thought of ''what if the subject of my post sees this?'', would they phrase things quite as harshly maybe?

How much defensively has Barkhuizen offered when he's played opposite NML? None.
Warne revealed earlier in the season he's explicitly told NML to abandon the defensive side of his game, and actively attributed that change to his upturn in form. Our system is largely symmetrical so this is likely the instructions to both wingers, and given the recent trend of both wide players overlapping the striker, I think CBT on the opposite side to NML is actually the very obvious expectation, given he's featured primarily as a left winger for Charlton this season, while Mendez-Laing has been at his best on our right flank?

We’d theoretically be at least 6 points worse off without his contribution so far (away at Posh, at home to Fleetwood). Those 6 points could be huge by the end of the season and there’s still time for him to contribute further…
    As for his injury, this article from yesterday says;
“The striker has been nursing a calf injury and had been due to return earlier this month. But he has suffered a setback during rehab. Warne says it now likely the forward misses the next two weeks and the striker is not anticipated to return until next month.”

No because the OPTA data (which WhoScored runs off) is always going to penalise wingers given the inherently inconsistent nature of their role. CBT has been the most productive winger in the league this season, so his G/A is doing most of the heavy lifting for his overall score; wingers not producing G/A doesn't mean they're not effective though...

I'm not so sure. It was reported we'd already agreed personal terms in the summer, but due to the protracted nature of Cashin's negotiations with Brighton, we didn't have time to complete the deal. Come January, all we apparently have to do is sort the bid with the club as personal terms aren't an issue. I suspect if the bid got accepted on Thu/Fri then the medical would, in fact, have been very quickly, however getting the press pack together would have taken longer as nothing could be sorted in advance during the previous stages which would usually take longer?
Basically I think getting the photos/interviews done would have been short notice due to the nature of the deal and then we want to make sure it gets good engagement online due to it likely being our marquee signing of the season.

The season is 23/24 and Forsyth being injured is detrimental to our promotion chances. You could've said that in 2013/14 too and it would've been true. Testament to him as a player, really.
