7-8 million seems a little short with TV, Sponsorship, more money substantially just for being in the league and greatly increased away followings with additional on the day spending that goes with it.  I'll have a listen

The £7-8m quoted is purely from the new TV deal passed down from the Prem.  There will be an increase in revenue from sponsorship, and season ticket sales to add on, probably another £2-3m.  A drop in the ocean compared to the relegated teams and those like Dog Fingerer FC who have to prop up their massive losses through their mard arse chairman...

Peter Gadsby probably a bit old for this kind of hassle now? Must be in his high 70’s?

Probably not the kind of guy to be mates with rival property developer either.

Well he went to school with my dad so he’s at least early 70s

It's important to avoid a relegation battle, ensure there are teams below us and keep our heads above water. A Bristol City, Preston North End-type season.

I think we'll ultimately know our aspirations and what kind of season we're in for based on two signings: Korey Smith & James Collins.

Both have more than played their part in our return to the Championship but anyone with eyes can see that they don't stand much of any chance to be impactful players at the next level. It's a big jump and if we are going to give them contracts to stay on for next season then we will need to buckle in.

We need to improve substantially to keep our head above water as you see the types of teams down there - who all have better players than Smith & Collins. These are essentially players who have been released by these types of teams.

There will be potentially 12-14 players through the door this summer - without huge investment we're going to need to showcase a level of creativity in the transfermarket we haven't seen since the days of George Burley.

I'd agree with letting Collins go cus League 1 looks to be his natural level at this stage in his career.  But I'd certainly give Smith another 12 months as he gave some fresh impetuous down the stretch, played some good stuff and it's important to have some senior pros in and around the squad.

Plus I don't think the jump to the Championship is that big.  You look at the table now and with some astute signings I'd fancy our chances against anyone from Brizzle downwards, especially at home.

You are correct, Kathcairns, the word is that he allegedly knew absolutely nothing about football at all, although word is that he tried to carry an air of being keen on football.

The fact that when he brought in Cocu he spoke of reading a study that said he (Cocu) had promoted more youngsters to the first team than any other manager in the top 5 European divisions. The study?  A sidebar on Cocu’s placement in FourFourTwo’s top 50 managers of the year…

I know hindsight is 20/20, but he talked b******* from day one

Also called Paul Warne to  ask if it was ok for him to stop by at Moor Farm.

Love this.  The guy owns the friggin building, can do whatever takes his fancy, but still shows the humility to think he might be disturbing the work force if he was to pop in…

    Class act 👌🏻

No it’s the next to the butchers on right just before the Bay of Bengal.

I never realised there was an area round the back.  I always assumed that it was just the bar section.

The Twang poster on the wall is a pretty deep cut

Joking aside it’s  a pretty good micro indie bar actually.
I thought it was strange it was closed for a private party yesterday daytime.

Ben’s a spondon lad and his family are all huge rams fans

Is it the gaff that used to be the fishmongers??

  7. I didn’t get to any away games so I can only really comment on the standard of the football, and to be honest only Stevenage really lived up to the billing of a bunch of cloggers, kicking seven shades out of the opposition.  Pretty much all teams play some decent stuff but, like Carlisle on Saturday, struggle in the final third cus good goal scorers are hard to come by, unless you have comparatively deep pockets.

My other half is Spanish. She asked me "why are people queuing in the pub at 9am for beer?". Add Barcelona to the places that just don't get football.

To her credit, she did get me home to Sheffield in one piece.

You mean, add Barcelona to the places that just don't get getting sh!t faced at 9am 🤣

That’s in my local bar in Borrowash owned by Ben Osborn. I thought it looked familiar!

    Wooooh!  Hang on.

    1 - There's a decent looking bar in Borrowash?

    2 - It's owned by Ben Osbourne?

3 - Surely we should be reading something into this?  What with his deal with Utd bout to expire?

Would I have been the only poster teasing B4 that we never caught Pompey if he was around?

Even though I knew he had some difficulties, I used to enjoy a little ribbing at expense of his optimism, however reading this, it makes me sound like a bully! I don't think there's a regular poster/reader here who didn't love B4's valuation of Rams players! 😄

I like many others would occasionally give Daniel a bit of stick but it was nothing to do with disliking him, or his attitude towards his beloved Rams, but simply my own, overly cynical world view.  I think it’s extremely important, especially during the massively divisive times we’re living in, to be more like B4.

  11. Right at this very second, I couldn’t give a flying f*** whether people like Paul Warne as a man or a manager, I don’t care whether you think his brand of football leave you cold, or you think he concentrates too much on the opposition, or that he’s too jokey in his interviews.  All I care about is that today, him & his staff helped provide me & my lad with memories we will never forget, that were able to share as father & son, that I will happily take to my grave.

    Thank you Paul.  Thank you

  12. Dear Daniel,

I know you've been doing quite a lot of work up there over the past few weeks, in helping us get to the position we find ourselves in.  I understand if you had a night off when we played Northampton, you were probably too busy having a cuppa with Sir Brian & Reich Carter, but if you can see your way clear to have an unconscious word in each of the lads' ears before they step out onto the pitch at 12:25, to be the bravest, best versions of themselves for the next 90 odd minutes we'll all be eternally grateful.  And if we manage to get what we need, you'll be up there, waving your flange with gusto and cheering them on with the rest of us.

    🫶

  13. Curtis Nelson.     10/10 - Consistent colossus
Callum Elder.     6/10 - Unlucky with injuries, as he was starting to show he's a good player
Joe Ward.           7/10 - If we'd had him fit & firing he'd have been a real asset
Sonny Bradley.    5/10 - Won us points, but has cost us a fair few as well
Josh Vickers.       6/10 - Steady enough in the games he's played, but certainly hasn't been the neck & neck competition for Wildsmith
Kane Wilson.         8/10 - Love to see him going at players, maybe with a full season at wing back he'll be even more of an asset
Martyn Waghorn.    6/10 - Kept us going in the first few weeks of the season with vital goals
Conor Washington.  5/10 - bar a couple of games, just didn't get going.  Too injury prone
Tyrese Fornah.        5/10 - Not the player we thought we were getting
    Elliot Embleton.        NA
Ryan Nyambe.        8/10 - Defensively, the best right back in League 1
Tyreece John-Jules   6/10 - Feel for the kid as there's a player in there somewhere.  Injury free I'd try for him on a free

    Winter:

Ebou Adams.        10/10 - Absolute game changer.  Plus a really likeable lad
Dwight Gayle.        8/10 - Reckon if he hadn't have gotten injured we'd be up already.  Brought a completely different dimension to the attack
Corey Blackett-Taylor 6/10 - Everyone will remember the miss against Northampton, but I still rate him
Max Bird*.              7/10 - Class player but I think we all know he doesn't 'quite' suit a Paul Warne midfield.  I've preferred the balance since he's been injured.

There isn't much else Klopp can do. The past four games they have only taken four points, but in each game they have battered the opposition in terms of chances created. As coaches, not sure what else they can do.

It's on the players. And at the crunch time of the season, they have faltered at both ends of the pitch. Everton's first goal was just defensive mistake after another. Slicing the ball in your own box.

Then the chances missed. That Nuñez one just lacked all composure.

The Man Utd FA Cup game kicked it all off. But they missed a host of chances against City too.

City will still drop points. If Arsenal beat Spurs and United away, they'll deservedly win the league.

It's all well and good having Nunez & Diaz as 'agents of chaos', but it's the complete opposite of what you want at the business end of the season.  It's alright blazing stuff over the bar, or flashing one an inch wide in October, when it's all sh!ts & giggles, but you need dead-eyed killers for the run in.  Firminio & Mane would never have missed some of the gilt-edged chances those two have squandered in the past few games.

I can't see Cit-eh dropping any points now they're out of Europe.  Not a chance

I’d give him a full season in the Championship IF we’re not in the bottom three or seriously flirting with relegation after a decent number of games. If we get promoted and manage to finish something like 15th or above I don’t think many of us would be complaining too much in our first season.

I’ve not been through the full list but, whilst it may be correct, the fact that every team in the bottom half of the Championship have replaced their managers is a little misleading. Firstly, Plymouth had to because their manager was poached, Birmingham owners have admitted they acted too hastily in getting rid of Eustace and then made a mistake with Rooney, Rotherham are so far adrift that it’s hardly surprising and Stoke are a bit of a basket case that seem to change managers at the drop of a hat. Of the others, there is only Sheffield Wednesday playing their first season back in the Championship and their first half of the season was so poor that, if that was us, it would meet my above criteria for making a change.

Weds' form since Rohl came in hasn't been that bad.  Just shows how poor they were to start off with, and an example that ditching the boss that got you promoted, as soon as you get promoted isn't always a good idea...

I think it's their plight this season that's gotten a lot of fans concerned if we do go up, considering how strong they were last season.  But it's worth baring in mind that they shouldn't really have gotten rid of Big Dave in the first place and they definitely shouldn't of hired Munoz who was a relative novice in the Championship and worked with a vastly better squad at Watford.

Why would he be given a full season in the Championship?

Every team in the bottom half of the Championship, Sunderland to Rotherham, have changed managers this season. Every one of those clubs sacked a manager.

If Derby are bottom three in the first half of the season and managers like Mowbray are floating about unemployed, there will be huge pressure to get rid.

Sentiment goes out the window. If managers like Nigel Adkins can be sacked after taking Southampton from League One to the PL in favor of a better, more progressive manager, then Derby would be foolish not to follow suite.

Derby have struggled before under Clough and Burley at Championship level. But in both spells there was hope due to how we played.

If results go against Warne and we’re playing unattractive defensive football, I think Clowes’ hand will be forced.

I do hate it when I agree with you Bris.  I love Warne.  As a bloke he's great, and as a manager he's not too shabby either, but if we're languishing around the bottom as we approach Christmas then like any other manager he should be let go.  Most fans would be prepared to yo-yo between the Prem & Championship, but not Championship & League 1.  But he's done an amazing job this season, and if we do go up, he deserves a chance.
