Agree that the league seems weaker, and in real terms I feel we have improved in defence; providing there are no injury crisis' early doors. This should hopefully mean that we dont get bullied and pick up points in games which we would have lost last year.
Forwards we are weaker, but as suggested elsewhere I'm a bit more relaxed about losing McGoldricks goals, if the way we play spreads more goals around the others. 
Thinking a few 1-0s where last year it was 3-0, but also a few 1-0s where last year it was 1-1 or 0-1. Let's hope it's enough.

Young, quick, exciting forward who is going to rack up 20 goals.  We all want one of those but unless one comes out of nowhere (I really didnt rate Sturridge (thought Stallard was better) until 95-96), only the big boys can really pay what it takes. We aren't in that market, nor are we in the market to speculate on that youngster who may make it in a season or two (see Malcolm Christie) or may not (see Liam Dickenson).
Our best chance of getting that unknown exciting quantity therefore is through the loan system, and I reckon we are more likely to get the best of those once the Premier League squads of 25 have been decided. So we have time yet.

First and foremost, I want Derby County to win games it's as simple as that.
How we get those results, I don't mind as long as we're putting the ball in the net more times than the opposition.
It's a sport, if you're not in it to win, then what's the point?
As a neutral watching a game on Sky, where I have no vested interest in the game, I want to watch entertaining football, Liverpool.
Whilst I can appreciate what Man City are doing, how they dominate games, I personally don't find it that entertaining.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and many on here will enjoy that type of football.

Hope that he gets some game time, never mind the fact that I like to see our youth breaking through, he is an unknown quantity unlike many of our other players. Teams might therefore struggle to make plans for him and his play, if he has the talent and application that can only be good for us - maybe chalk up 5 or so goals in the replacing McGoldricks goals fund.

Agree, it'll feel strange to have one of those again though: McGoldrick, Martin, Howard (IIRC), Biainio, Wanchope our latest successful forwards all known to drop deeper to get the ball. In fact 'fox in the box' brings one name to mind (shudders), we are about due one  though.

I think we can easily fall into the trap of looking for 1 person to replace the goals that McGoldrick got last season, but if Washingtons style of pulling defenders out of position and giving other players space then those goals could come from say ... +7 for Collins, +7 for NML, +7 for a midfield runner, +5 for set piece headed goals, on top of what they had this last season, plus maybe 10 for himself. No doubt those goals need replacing but there is more than one way to achieve it.
