So what you’re saying is we’ve had a better start than last season? Wow!! The world is ending according to some on here yet we’ve started better than last season. And this despite not playing to the level we want or the manager wants. Talk about an overreaction from some quarters of the fan base.

It's quite an unpleasant forum on here sometimes isn't it.
The blokes doing his job,has some time off for unknown reasons and gets personally slagged off by fellow derby supporters whilst he does so.

    Agree with this entirely.

I appreciate and admire his love and devotion to our club. He did a very good job during the administration phase. He may not be everyone’s cup of tea but everything he’s done whilst in his post has been done with complete sincerity.

If what’s been said about the bbc cut backs is true his family will be trying their best to reorganise and find a path forward which is a situation we’ve all found ourselves in. Chin up Ed, things will work out, I’m sure.
To those of you that made it personal, hang your heads in shame. I hope you don’t have to face the same scrutiny and cruelty should you find yourselves in a similar situation.

Whilst we bash away, mostly anonymously behind the keyboard, just go take a second to see what Josh Vickers is going through right now, Ed, just like us all is a real person.
Regardless of how you feel about him as a person or his commentary style there is absolutely no need for personal stuff towards a fellow Derby fan.
Seriously, come on, have a word with yourselves.

A win today so we have 3 pages moaning about a commentator that wasn't actually commentating.
Coming up with new and inventive things to criticise should be considered our specialist subject.

Eatonram reacted to ram59 in Will Lady Luck Ever Shine On Derby Again?
There are a number of things that you need to have success, lady luck being an important one. Over the last 10 years, we've had more than our share of bad luck.
It seemed to start with that play off final, the most one sided final that was won by the 'wrong' team. Then we made our key signing in Thorne, who was forever injured, who knows what could have been with a fit George. This was to be repeated with Bielik, again another key player who could have made a difference. We then lost 3 managers due to 'interest' from other teams, SM, who's head was turned by Newcastle, Rowett poached by Stoke and the drawn out saga with Frank going to Chelsea. None of them went on to succeed at any of those clubs, as we could have told them before hand.
Constant new managers required constant changes to playing personnel and MM was only too happy to fork out the club's money, to back them, in doing so, trying to be clever with EFL rules. Then on top of this, we had Covid, an unforeseeable occurrence which it could be argued affected Derby more than any other club, having the biggest gates outside the premier league and parachute teams.
To compound these problems, MM decided to pull the plug, instead of following through with his promises, no administration would be no 12 points deduction, in fact he should have stuck to his guns and challenged the other 9 points in court. Without these deductions we should still be in the championship and not lost a generation of young talent that our academy had nurtured. It's a crying shame when you thing of all those young players that we lost for nothing or next to nothing. Other 'bad' owners have not let this happen to a big club, they've either continued to back the club until they could get shot of it, without pulling the plug. It doesn't help that the EFL seem to be more vindictive against us when compared with other clubs' misdemeanours.
We are at the start of a new era, but have been dogged by poor refereeing decisions over the last 14 months and now we have suffered 5 long term injuries to our small squad, only 6 games into the season.
It's about time we got some good fortune, even average fortune would do.
I'm trying my best, I'm already on my third 'lucky' shirt for home games and my second for away matches.🙄

How many games have you seen where the team playing the better football have lost?
We all want to see great entertaining football,  but at the end of the day, it's all about getting the ball in the net and stopping the other team from doing the same.
We Scored the first goal and should have had a penalty before that even though Bolton were playing better than us, and without the refs dodgy decisions we could well have gone on to get 3 points.

I read a really interesting article a while back, about how Klopp had to adapt his style when he moved from Dortmund to Liverpool.  I'm not sure if this is the same article, but it's the closest I can find and it does make some of the same points:
    https://totalfootballanalysis.com/article/klopp-his-tactical-evolution-from-dortmund-to-liverpool-tactical-analysis-tactics
The gist of it was, the German league is a much more open, attacking league so you can basically always counter-press, because the other team is always going to come and have a go at you to some degree.  At Liverpool, he was having to deal with teams coming to Anfield and just setting up to not lose, and you can't press in the same way if the other team has no intention of ever really playing into it.  The net result being his Liverpool team keep possession a lot more than his Dortmund one, and have to create their own chances more, rather than just relying on pressing the other team into a mistake.
I do wonder if there's something a bit similar happening here - smaller teams are possibly much more willing to come and have a go at Rotherham than they are at Pride Park in front of 25k+ fans.

at the level we were playing at there wasn’t many centre backs at all who performed as well or as consistently as he did. He won POTS for us how many times? He won it the seasons before he joined us with his previous teams.

Yeah sometimes he’d have a rush of blood to his head or his positioning wouldn’t be perfect but if those two things weren’t holding him back he’d have been a premier league player. All championship players have faults hence they’re championship players.

Second best all first half, grew into it nearer the end and got a penalty after the ball was in the net, and after another stonewall penalty. Then they get a penalty, looked on the edge of the box but could’ve been inside. Second half starts, Bradley (who was playing really well) drops (another) clanger leading to Wildsmith to get desperate and get sent off (rightly or wrongly) but the referee took a good 40 seconds to make a decision and the linesman didn’t flag it. Then we’re away to Bolton who will be top 2 with 10 men. We defended really well, Nelson in particular but then they get a fluke own goal that loops in. We get pegged back and have a few chances near the end. Wasn’t a great watch but no where near worth the meltdown in my opinion

Watching the replay, for their pen the foul was outside the box still a daft challenge from Smith. Sonny is having a mare with us, I was expecting so much more. Wildsmith unlucky I do think it was hand but it's just his natural reaction. We had a clear pen in the second not given. The footballs not great but PW isn't having much luck with injuries and individual errors.
