  1. Rosenior had lost the plot somewhat in my eyes, with that team he started on Saturday. We started the season by creating loads of chances, just being wasteful - carry on playing that way and the wins would come. Instead he goes to 5 at the back at home and for 3 games we'd been largely lumping the ball forwards and missing out the midfield.

I think with the quality we have for this level, an experienced manager will get us up no problem.

Also won't be sad to see the back of our goal kick routine...

Yes, the EFL are poo. But I don’t understand how this is EFLs fault?

Admin haven’t named a preferred bidder to start the takeover, so we don’t have any funds coming in?

Are the EFL stopping Admins from doing that? Genuine question.

    This.

The madness ends today if admins name Appleby preferred bidder. Just do it? What am I missing?

The Jagielka issue is more likely to be more of a problem for Jagielka. If he was to play tomorrow and get injured, badly injured, and his contract expires 17 January he could be out of the game with no money for a considerable period of time. Shame, but Stearman will do a good job for us tomorrow. Jags will hopefully hang around the club a few days until the proof of funds has been lodged/accepted, and he can sign up again till the end of the season.

We're in administration, why are you confident we have funds to prove?

  4. If Rooney knows what's good for him, he'd learn from Lampard taking his 'unmissable opportunity' too soon and hang fire a year or two to gain extra experience.

I love the way Rooney has handled the whole admin scenario, but he still has lots to learn as a manager. He often waits too long to make changes, hasn't freshened up the starting 11 enough recently and players like Morrison getting 90 minutes (when he's only ever good for 90), are all things he'll improve on over time.

Everton are well funded but an absolute mess, I don't think he's ready to take it on.

I'm sorry but the way this club has been mismanaged so badly there should be a police investigation......  Starting with how a Championship club could be allowed to run up debts of nearly £30m to HMRC.....

I agree! I get the 12 point deduction rule being brought in as there was a flurry of clubs going into admin to cut their debts which shafted local suppliers and HMRC alike, and the league wanted to discourage that.

I think this is why fan representation on the board is so important, if we had people that cared about this club and not just the potential return on investment by gaining promotion, perhaps the alarm bells could've been ringing years ago over the state of our finances - with Pearce and Morris given the boot?

Cheery bed time reading. I get the point about HMRC potentially benefitting from our liquidation and forcing clubs down the line to avoid admin as a debt cutting tool.

My only hope is that HMRC think few clubs will take the admin gamble deliberately, even if they see us broker a deal, and as such feel their best outcome is to recover some of what we owe now.

On a personal note, how bad does it look that we as a club are having to haggle our way out of paying tax we owe. In a pandemic. Mel Morris hang your head in shame.

  7. Roos - 3, challenging for the title of worst distribution in the EFL. Takes years off my life whenever the ball is at his feet or he comes out of his goal. Couple of decent stops but my word, he's a hazard.

Byrne - 5.5, willing runner but looked shaky, nearly set Lawrence up for a second with a good run and cut back.

Forsyth - 3, not his fault that he was used as a target man for 70 minutes which clearly isn't his strength, but does not look anywhere near match fit and was found out every time he had to make a pass/do any defending.

Jagielka - 5.5, been solid this season but wasn't near his best tonight.

Davies - 6.5, best of the back 4 tonight for me.

Shinnie - 6, great assist but looks knackered, given the miles he puts in every week surely we need to look at rotating the midfield 3 more.

Bird - 6, nothing special but fairly tidy

Thompson - 7, baller, 3rd professional game (?) and he was the most composed player on the pitch with the ball at his feet. Again.

Morrison - 4, like a few others just looks either completely knackered or not match fit. Got to give Watson/Sibley a go at CAM next game, I beg you.

Knight - 7, Duracell bunny, with quality anorl. Nearly forced a second goal for us before half time with his running, but like the rest looked knackered come 65 minutes.

Lawrence - 6.5, took his goal amazingly, if we get anywhere close to 21st this season his goals are going to carry us. Drifts in and out of games but we know that, unlucky not to get a second after Byrne's pull back got caught under his feet.

A word on Rooney, been immense since this whole shower started but I feel these are games he'll look back on with a few more years' experience under his belt and regret not making changes sooner/rotating the starting 11. I understand the desire to keep a settled 11, but with such a threadbare squad and the general lack of subs he's made so far, a few players are looking completely shattered. Why Joz was his first change tonight as well is beyond me, just didn't seem like the game he'd be able to affect.

Is 20 year old Pride Park fair value at an estimated cost of 50 million, and that wouldn't include the training ground which I understand isn't owned by Mm.

In comparison, Chestfield built a new 10500 seater stadium in 2019 for 13 million.

So an estimate of say 40 million to build a 30000 seater stadium? If that was an option.

Equally, if an option Derby could build a 20000 seater stadium for a lot less.

Are you per chance an estimator on HS2?

  10. I'm not a very frequent poster but I think I speak for many in my position that this forum is far and away the best place to discuss all things Derby and completely admire and respect the work from David and the moderators in providing this space for us fans.

I hadn't really considered the overheads from hiring servers etc so will happily make a donation when pay day comes around. Anybody that finds fault in you finding funding through advertisement to cover costs, and thinks it might affect your impartiality is quite frankly a moron.

  11. What were you expecting? There's no precedent of any team reducing their 12 points for admin, is there? The COVID argument was paper thin given we were pi**ing away money Mel's entire reign, having to sell our stadium at one point just to pass FFP.

And after they shafted us with the appeal debacle we were then always going to face a points deduction, give our revised amortisation policy?

  12. 18 hours ago, Rev said:

Hypothetical situation here, but could we pay everyone in full, besides Mel, and avoid the 12 point penalty altogether, after all we'd have gained no advantage from Administration, and the only person missing out would be the reckless former owner?

No. Advantage gained or not, we entered administration, automatic 12 points deducted.

Half points accepted. An average effort is a 6.0. Deadline Fri 8pm. Add subs as you see appropriate.

Roos - 5, stay upright instead of getting into a long barrier for their first goal and he'd have a chance to save it with his feet, poor positioning.

Byrne - 4, really poor tonight, hate seeing him underperform because I love the bloke.

Forsyth - 1, shambolic display, can't stand the bloke.

Jagielka - 6, not great, not awful.

Davies - 5, would love to know where he was off to for their winner.

Bird - 5, didn't get a hold of the midfield without Shinnie like we needed him to.

Morrison - 5.5, looked OK but he's blowing come 70 minutes every match. His ban might give Sibley a chance down the middle at least.

Knight - 6.5, got himself about and looked good first half. Faded second half like the rest of the team.

Lawrence - 5, got the assist but otherwise another bang average performance

Baldock - 6, took his goal well but one you'd expect most of (even this team) to score.

Kazim - 6, we need him fit and firing. When he is we're a much better side, when he's not he's the wish.com Chris Martin.

    SUBS

Buchanan - 2, better than Forsyth but then the bar was on the floor. Should've scored and silly foul to give away for their winner.

Festy - 6, tried to take on the defender but Barnsley were sitting back at this stage so little space to run into behind. Deserves a start.
