Would you really go from top six in the Championship to League One?
He’s apparently on Bristol City’s three man shortlist and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on the radar of a number of bottom half Championship clubs.
Not if I was currently managing a club that was top six in the Championship. However if I was out of work I would. He may well be on shortlists and radar's but unless he's offered a post he's out of work

What are the realistic options? We’re not going to have the funds to bring in anyone who is currently in a job, so who is available?
Nathan Jones? Suspect we would find in him a similar problem to the one we’ve had with Warne: a manager that works better with small clubs with underdog mentalities. Look at his time with Southampton/Stoke compared to Luton.
Warnock? Off to QPR
Eustace? Will rightly wait for a Championship job
For me (perhaps controversial opinion) but I think Mark Warburton would be a good fit. Total change of playing style. Ex-Forest I know, but have always enjoyed watching his sides.
Warburton would be good I agree. It was reported today that Warnock may be off to QPR but it doesn't mean he is. If this gig came up he would fancy it no doubt about it. Beale, who came unstuck at Rangers might be a possibility. I don't think Eustace will 'rightly' wait for a Championship job, he might be waiting a while and he wants to work. He's hardly an established Championship manager, he's only been in post for just over a year.

Want to clear up any confusion. Meeting took place this morning. I have no idea what was said. My source has told me things have been off for weeks. They expect that he won’t last till the international break
You and a 23 year old lad off here can't both be right

The silence coming out of the club is deafening. What does it mean? I would have thought they would say something along the lines of 'Paul Warne has the clubs total confidence and will be given the time to do the job he started' or something like that. The fact they have said nothing other than perhaps briefing local media leads me to believe options are being considered

I love the dreamers thinking Derby in the current situation would attract the likes of Warnock. Pure fantasy.
Don’t talk such rubbish. He would be here like a shot given the chance

There is no anti Clowes rhetoric is there? I haven’t seen any and there certainly won’t be any from me. Ever.

I think we will get an equaliser. We are the better side now. Still want Warne out though
-
We have looked better this half. Actually playing a bit of football. Famous last words.

That's not funny sadly. We'll have to replace him with Sonny Bradley.
Or Nyambe, Ward to right back

It's fairly obvious to me that Clowes is looking to flip Derby ASAP & that's why he went for a so called League One expert. It's sort of backfired on him now that we're still on League 1 & not guaranteed to get automatic promotion
I don't think that's obvious at all. If it was he wouldn't have bothered with the Academy for a start. I think ideally he would like to get us in a strong position in the Championship, ready to challenge for promotion to the Premiership with a sound infrastructure and then sell

I didn't say that all. I wouldn't be happy, but it certainly wouldn't be because we once played Real Madrid on black and white TV.
It was in colour because a sizeable chunk of our fanbase saw it with their own eyes. An even bigger chunk saw Mark Wright, a player superior to either of the current England centre backs playing for Derby. An even bigger chunk still saw Stimac, Eranio, Asanovic and Wanchope. Almost all of our current fans were around when we stuffed Leeds at Elland Road only 4 years ago. But now, we are to be happy with a draw at Stevenage, a club of similar stature to Burton Albion. Yes of course I understand we are where we are, one foot in front of the other, its will be a long term building job and all those other arguments. But I saw Jim Smith and Arthur Cox turn this club round quickly and in Arthurs case, and in my opinion, from lower start point squad wise and money wise that where we are now
-
You said you would be happy with a point at Stevenage. Whatever floats your boat then. I guess if a rich guy that used to dine on caviar and lobster etc falls on hard times he should be happy with a few chicken bones out of the bin but I bet he isn’t.

You didn't step foot on the moon either. Not sure what relevance any of it has to the next 3 games.
My point was about how far our expectations have fallen. I shouldn't really have to explain though unless you are really thick or being deliberately obtuse

I would be happy with a point at Stevenage. Seven points would be a good return from the next three games.
Happy with a point at Stevenage. You didn't see us beat Real Madrid and Benfica then. Man Utd at Old Trafford. Liverpool at Anfield. Arsenal at Highbury

People like you!!! Who the hell do you think you are
I think I'm someone who knows nothing like you. So I don't say things like 'we can't afford' or 'he is going nowhere' I don't know if we can afford to sack him or not and neither do you. I don't know if we are going to sack him or not and neither do the people who say he is going nowhere as if its a fact, rather than their totally uninformed opinion. The only people who actually know the answers to these questions don't talk publicly about it because they are professionals and we will just have to wait and see what happens

Been supporting since 1968. Seen the lot from ecstasy to despair. This could be my last season ticket. Not because of Warne or Clowes or our current style of play but because of our toxic and frankly moronic minority of supporters who try to hound managers and players out of the club. ( I mean constantly hiring and firing managers has worked so well for us over the last 10 years)..if social media existed in 1995 Jim Smith would have been getting crucified. We were about 6 from bottom at this stage of his promotion season.
Thats where we were at this stage of his FIRST season you mean. I don't think toxic supporters should make much difference to you anyway, just enjoy supporting the team

Folk don't KNOW what we can/can't afford but, when there's a business plan in place to which we have to adhere and the club was saying we can't afford transfer fees, it does seem to indicate that there's not much wriggle room in the budget. Not much wriggle room in what we may spend according to the business plan. What would paying PW and his staff off cost? We fans have no idea but if we guess at 20K a week for PW, 15K each for Barker and Hammy and 10K for Warrington, the keeper's coach, that's 60K a week which comes to £3.12M a year. Two and a half years left so 3,12 * 2.5 and you have £7.8M. Now, as I've said, I'm only guessing but even if their wages are only half the figures I've used, you're talking the best part of £4M to get rid. Even if we do have that kind of money floating around, would we be allowed to spend it under the business plan? Again we don't know but it's not a daft thought that we probably can't spend that amount on compo for PW et al.
The poster to whom you replied was making a, not unreasonable, assumption, IMO.
Fair play to you for going to the trouble to explain the point with some figures and a reasoned argument, but I would simply counter by by saying that we would not have to pay anything like that as a lump sum.

If it's that simplistic an argument then why hasn't Clowes already actioned this?
You asked me exactly the same question and I gave you a perfectly good answer. Bucko Beast didn't make a 'simplistic' point, but you are. Lets explain again, Clowes hasn't pulled the trigger YET because he gave the guy a 4 year contract, wants to give him time, has a relationship with him and it would cost a lot of money. However those are the same considerations for any owner in this position. More unlikely possibilities though are that Clowes is a very indecisive guy and/or he thinks Warne is doing an acceptable job given the circumstances. I think his move to change Rosenior for Warne suggests the former isn't the case and who knows about the latter
So who would we have then?

Maybe but we are a big club with a high profile. I think a lot of people would be interested in managing Derby. However we have to get rid of Warne and gang of numpties first!
