Now the transfer strategy of our 70-odd manager during Mels tenure makes sense.....
Anya, blackman, zoon, butters..... All part of the pathway facilitation master plan...... ?

Didn’t Mel warn us against signing too many good players as it cuts off the path to the first team for academy players?

We obviously have to give him a new contract. A consistent player who has bags of experience and a strong connection to the club being here for so long.
He will have a big role next season both on and off the pitch.

Tricky one for me. I've never quite seen what others seem to see. Yes I know all about the 'engine', but other than that? He doesn't really control midfield, doesn't really play killer passes, doesn't score big numbers, doesn't make too many killer runs. He's good at everything but not particularly brilliant at anything. I'm not sure he's improving much (or likely to) either.
I felt a bit like this with Hendrick - another very good young player who I wasn't that fussed about losing and whose post-Derby career went pretty much as I expected. Continued to do lots of things well and nothing brilliantly, became a squad player at lower Premier League level.
Obviously at League One level Knight would be a huge asset and I don't particularly want to lose him. But in our current circumstances he definitely has a price. He's not irreplaceable.

Why would we want to make other teams 'average' youngsters better? At this level better we find more of our own.

We seem to be able to make a few signings. I think renewing Thompson and Cashin maybe the biggest signings yet.

Looks as if I'm in the minority, but I'd be very disappointed if Johnson re-signs. Never rated him. The worst technique of any player in the squad, which at times cost us dearly. And I suggest "Derby City" was unforgivable. Not for me. I don't understand this weird fixation with bringing players back - Shinnie would be madness too. Move on, please.

Hot diggity damn. Best news for me was Cashin and Tommo re-signing; Cashin especially as he is going to be a top player.
Such a good feeling to be looking at on-pitch matters at long last

Our friends at the EFL didn't take long to point out we remain under embargo.
    https://www.efl.com/news/2022/july/efl-statement-derby-county-exit-administration/
    The relevant extract reads:
"As part of the conditions of continuing membership in the EFL, the Club, whilst remaining under a registration embargo, will be permitted to sign new players in accordance with the terms of a business plan. The plan, which has been jointly agreed by the new ownership and the EFL, includes restrictions in respect of transfers fees, player wages and agents’ fees. Any application to register players must comply with the terms of those agreed plans."
I guess we all knew this was coming. What the statement does not say, is how long this will remain for. Is it the whole season? Is it the following season as well?
And what the terms are will dictate how competitive we can be. As before, we cannot even extend registrations for existing players without meeting the EFL's demands. While I'm grateful we still have a club, I will never forgive the EFL for what they did to us.

His net worth and his company worth have been guesstimated to death on here and elsewhere.
You seem to believe that Ashley would have been better, maybe he would, we'll never know.
Mike Ashley has had 6 months to decide if he really wanted to buy DCFC, like you said, he's got the moolah, but he's decided not to outbid everyone else for whatever reason.
Its completely out of the hands of us fans, we have no say in the matter whatsoever. Right now, I am grateful to David Clowes for buying the stadium and (hopefully) the club as one entity.
All we can do is turn up and get behind the team from the first friendly onward and let the new manager and players know we are with them.

His estimated net worth when featured on the 2018 Rich List was £252million pounds. That figure is likely to have changed in the 4 years since, maybe increased or decreased, only he and his accountant will know that actual figure.
It has been suggested based on media reports and historic examples of clubs exiting administration (as frustratingly the EFL regs don’t include published processes for post insolvency events) that we will be subject to restrictions as to how much we can spend on transfer fees (if anything) and wages in line with an agreed business plan between the new owner and the league. Which makes the general consensus, whoever takes the club on will not be able to immediately bankroll an assault on the leagues and we have to temper our expectations accordingly. What that could mean is Clowes is able to acquire the club, settle 100% of football debts, 25p in the pound to other creditors then steady the ship and build sensibly and gradually towards promotion with a sustainable model. Utilising the academy, effective recruitment and the large revenue opportunities presented by our fandom to build wealth within the club and not throw good money after bad like Mr Morris before.
I’d also add, let’s wait for the takeover to happen and I suspect he will tell us what his plan is. Hopefully the days of us wildly speculating in the absence of solid info and communication are numbered. The Clowes statement was mature and informative in my view, delivered in the right way once there was something to share, I’m hoping that will be the case moving forward.

My view... I don't think he's in it for the long term. I suspect his plan is 3 years max, and he likely has money to do little more than that. I think he's solely in the business of saving the club he loves from disaster (which is why he got involved much later than the other parties) and his limited ambition is to get the club stable and saleable and move on quite quickly.

I don't think that is what is going to happen.  His reluctance to own the club, if this is correct, actually is a good thing in a way: he isn't going to go hell for leather - but will be sensible, as this is about his love for the club not wanting to show how amazing and rich he is..

derbydaz22 reacted to ram59 in How do we get a Manager to stay with the club?
That's something we'll never know, with a bit of money to spend, who's to say that he wouldn't have wasted it on  'Blackman' or 'Anya' type players? He did well with what he had, but he's still unproven under normal circumstances. Who's to say that Derby's impressive home form wasn't down to the undying home support granted to the team last season, personally, I can't remember a season like it for unflinching support at home.
Hopefully, we as fans can learn from this and try to maintain a similar atmosphere in the future.

I think it is fair to say that the prospective new owner is very much his own man and won't want or have any need for a former owner there causing any potential distress or interference.
