We’ve brought in players that have obvious weaknesses and that shouldn’t be a surprise at League One level.
None of our back four are what could be described as comfortable on the ball.
We don’t have a busy midfield player who can break things up and play it simple (a Shinnie type). The midfield balance has been a problem all season.
We don’t look either secure or creative there at the moment and I wonder if Ward could play there with Bird and Fornah. Thompson’s return will help.
Hourihane for me is an impact sub behind the forwards but his skills are suited to better strikers especially ones who can head his crosses.
Waghorn needs a nippy partner. None of our forwards are natural finishers.
Individually they aren’t a bad group but there hasn’t been enough care taken in working out how we can make the most of their skills.
I also don’t know how we forgot how to pass the ball. That should be a shared skill at any professional level. The team looks nervous in possession.
If we could improve that alone results would improve too.

I watched in on RamsTV and I couldn't believe how much Barker kept going on about the Exeter game as this miracle performance, that we had somehow fallen from a heavenly state in just four days. As I recall, we beat a tragically poor Exeter team - but not exactly with ease.
When were we last actually good? I'll give you the second half of the first half of the Posh game but besides that I cannot think of a time. This has been a steady descent into abject mediocrity.

We managed to beat arguably the worst team in the division at home. They are completely out of form and we have a vastly superior squad. Wow well done warne.

The problem is the massive disconnect between how Paul Warne sees football, and how a large portion of the fanbase, and I suspect the squad he's inherited,  see it.
He sees it as a cardinal sin that we can't compete physically for second balls, while the Warne Out camp think if the first ball is more accurate, you don't need to compete for second balls, the initial pass does the damage.

Also seen one or two referencing “clownes”, this is also bang out of order. We owe him enormously. He’s just a fan like us who had the wherewithal to do what we would all do. Despite seemingly getting wrong with warne he’s still our saviour

Nah! That's a typical meme given to lots of teams that beat us.
Their third goal was lovely football. They played on the deck better than we did too.

Unfortunately I think Warne’s time is up now.
I don’t think it’s an impossible position to recover. We have plenty of time to find form, claw back points and find ourselves in the top six. We could win both games in hand and be in 6th, for example.
The problem for Warne is the goodwill has gone and it’s the hardest to get back once it’s slipped away and results like today only cement the ill feelings.
The scenes post match v Shrewsbury either tend to be the beginning of the end or to stir up a reaction. To deliver that today against a newly promoted side from League 2, irrespective of form and the momentum they are riding, is surely the nail in the coffin.
I think he has tried his best in challenging circumstances but clearly something is not right and Clowes has to act. We just haven’t clicked.
The trouble is that the new man can’t bring in any players until January, so there’s the danger that things might get worse before they get better.

He’s got to go, we’ve gone alarmingly backwards this season and you just can’t see any improvement in any area whatsoever.

Still think Collins is better than Washington! How did someone look at them two and waghorn and think that had enough goals to make the top six!
I’ve been hoping sibley got a game at number 10 for ages, has had two and been pretty poor now.

Steve Evans has turned Stevenage into a more competent team than Paul Warne has Derby on roughly a fifth of the budget - without the benefit of a category one academy to utilise.
We’re both playing the same type of football, they’re just better at it. What a sad day in the history of this club.

Unfortunately can’t see him going anywhere.
He will get Tuesday night and win, then get another few games.
This season is a write off unless he’s gone next week.

Dragged ourselves back into it against the run of play and still ended up behind at half time.

Get Warne gone. Not his fault for the goals but we’ve just watched 44 minutes and 50 seconds of gods awful tripe football from a team who should be capable of more.

The chances of needing to use a sub keeper are always very low but the consequences if you need one but haven’t got one the bench are immense. It would be insane not to name a sub keeper.

I'm 100% not even remotely critical of what Clowes has done, I think he's been fantastic. I've mentioned elsewhere that on paper, his recruitment of Warne was a no-brainer so even if that does end badly, I'd not blame Clowes in the slightest. I also absolutely love the work Clowes is going to rebuild the image of the club, with the colours, the charity and community work, the direct engagement with fans etc. I can see why my post might have looked like "I'm grateful but.." but it honestly wasn't meant to be.
I agree we'd not know what would have happened if Clowes stepped in, or who might have ended up taking us over. My point was just that we did have other interested parties, including Ashley who was interested in taking us over until the end, but was frustrated with Quantuma. And I can't over emphasise how happy I am that we ended up with DC and not one of the other known parties.

Sorry for the long post, I don’t post a lot but felt the need to add my feelings to this debate.
I have been patient and many of the group I go to home games with called Warne out a long time ago, one or two didn’t want him when he was appointed and saw him as a huge step down from Rosenior. I wanted Warne ahead of Rosenior to get out of League One whereas others were looking at the development of the club as a whole.
initially Warne looked a good appointment to me, we started to score, and win, away, went on a good run and even briefly looked like we could trouble the top two. But we fell away disappointingly at the end and not to make the play offs was poor.
I wanted to give Warne, and Clowes, time and let Warne build his own team. The anti Warnes in our group see his recruitment as terrible and our best players as the players that were here before Warne arrived. I think some of that is harsh, I like Nelson, Nyambe, Wilson and Fornah and can see why he signed Bradley and Ward.
But his big issue, as he talks about himself endlessly, is scoring goals. He said this week that the top teams in League One have the best strikers. He talks about improving our finishing. This is where his words and actions don’t match for me. Clearly our results last season were built on McGoldrick’s goals. He hasn’t been replaced. Warne has signed Washington and Waghorn. Neither are going to score enough goals for me. Collins has already proved he won’t. John-Jules is injured and unproven. We are unlikely to be able to solve this in January.
In my view Warne sets up the game randomly with chances at both ends, therefore it is unsurprising to me, with this squad, that our results are mixed. We will get good and bad results on small margins, something Warne says a lot himself. Doing this he will only succeed with one of the best strikers in League One and this season we don’t have one.
In conclusion, and I hate to do it, I too am joining the Warne out brigade. I have despaired at our changing managers far too regularly in recent years and wanted to give Warne as long as he needed to get it right. But we are in League One. Our worst ever seasons are 7th in the third tier, twice, one was last season. We’re currently looking like we’re not getting promotion, certainly not automatically.
My choice now would be a manager who can organise this squad into a team that can defend properly, control games and get clean sheets. We aren’t going to score a hatful of goals consistently so I believe this is our best chance of promotion this season.
I really hope the fans don’t turn on Clowes, he has lots of credit in the bank for me and is allowed to make a mistake without getting vilified for it. I just hope he sees the current issues early enough so we can still have a shot at promotion this season as the league looks weak to me and it may be our best opportunity to get out of it for some years.
