Scrap the licence fee and fund it solely through advertising. Over paid presenters and a diversity manager £250k+, it’s turned into a money pit and they’ve completely lost touch with how the majority of people consume their entertainment. They’ve lost out on multiple sports contracts over the years they’ve even lost some England games in recent years. Their model is completely outdated and needs a revamp but their too comfortable charging people a licence fee under the threat of jail time if you don’t pay it.

Not a surprise in all honesty, this was rumoured to be happening a few years ago, was only a matter of time.
Think we will see area BBC buildings with shared studios including digital content like podcasts can be recorded, shows like Sport Scene might not be dead a buried, just not something that you would be able to tune into live on the radio.
As a TV licence payer, I have to be honest and say I don’t personally get value for money in what I pay for each year as oppose to services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, so I kinda begrudge paying more, I would if I had to, not one of these that will challenge the legality behind it all.
Outside of using the BBC Sport website occasionally and following the news accounts on Twitter, I would struggle to tell you what I watch/listen to. £160 a year, hmm.
Being outside the Derby area I would have to pay a fiver a month to listen to live commentary, yet for a few quid more and some computer location based trickery I get to actually watch the games, it’s a no brainer. Sport scene I can take it or leave it, I only really tune in when something major has happened, the emergency shows. Outside of that it’s a chat between content creators that I already follow online and can read their opinions through their social media channels.
I appreciate my usage case will be different to others on this forum, feel sorry for those that rely on these shows that are not savvy with the internet, however I can understand the logic behind moving to hybrid programmes whilst the TV licence fee remains frozen. I’m not sure they can really justify an increase whilst so many families are already struggling to keep the lights on and forced to buy a licence just for having a TV in their house.
The solution quite simply is partial funding through advertisements…well that and and stop paying Gary Lineker £1.35m to front a football highlights show for 10 months of the year.

QuitYourJibbaJivin got a reaction from Carnero in Is Paul Warne the next Nigel Pearson?
The 4 year contract means Warne is here to stay, promotion this season or not. The squad was bundled together in the close season at the last minute with the best we could have signed due to the circumstances. Administration has led to a massive imbalance in the squad, the players are either just out of nappies or heading for the retirement home. Warne is going to need 2/3 windows before we’ll see this team play how he wants to IMO. My worry is with restrictions following into next season it’s going to take even longer to accumulate a capable squad. Yes we have some decent players but we have absolutely zero depth. Patience is going to be key.

If we get Warne at the start of the season people would be jumping for joy. The fact is time scales didn’t allow for it, we were already behind on transfer dealings but luckily LR had already been having some conversations and ticking things over. There’s no way Clowes could have changed the managerial team that early. Now he’s given LR a chance he obviously feels we need to go in a different direction. Poster saying about how LR signed these players, Warne might want different but we literally signed the best players available to us due to our restrictions, I highly doubt the M.O would have deviated much had Warne been in situ.

If it means not having to watch Wildsmith playing 30 yards off his line thinking he’s prime Pirlo it can only be a good thing.

As for the comments about him having been Rotherham's manager, that is pure snobbery.

Don’t see why this is so surprising. LR is interim. Has he done enough to be permanent? Possibly but then again, style of play has been questioned and the away performances have been dreadful. If he’s staying on the coaching staff then great.

I'm on a tracker. Not sure whether to fix or wait until they fall with the impending recession.
I do struggle a bit to understand raising interest rates to combat inflation in the current situation.
If the economy is doing well and people are spending money, then raising rates will reduce spending and borrowing, which should stop inflation.
When inflation is high like now, because of sky high gas prices and multiple supply issues, then interest rate hikes just wipe out even more money that might be spent keeping businesses going.
Small, non-essential businesses like restaurants, pubs etc are screwed. Staff costs going up as not enough people to work, bills going through the roof, then reduced custom as no one has any money left due to inflation and interest rate rises.
Are the people at the Bank of England making decisions based on their own experiences? Eating out 5 times a week in a Surrry commuter village and buying luxury goods. An interest rate rise for them will help inflation as they will go for cheaper 75 quid bottle of wine next week?
Not really sure how we get out of this mess, at least in the short term. War in Ukraine comes to a swift conclusion and Europe's realtionship Russia returns back to how it was before? Seem like the only option.
