I don’t have any idea is he a good player but as I’m very much of an advocate for cognitive behavioural therapy, therefore I hope we sign him.

Also, if all of our attacking players would have name with a hyphen, club store would get extra income from printing those names
    Logical, right?

This. The missus and I agreed a few years ago that we didn't need to keep feeding that particular commercial machine after so many years together, so now I cook her a nice meal on the day itself, which I genuinely enjoy planning and carrying out. It was her idea though, because she's useless at remembering birthdays and special occasions 😂

Seeing as Everton were originally a church team, they'll probably get away with it then.

I don't see the problem here. If a player has two poor games, I expect him to be dropped.
On the other hand, outfield players get substituted after one bad game. Except for Sibbo, who has about 15 minutes to shine.

The church outlawed the sale of indulgences in 1567. Unfortunately, the church is a pioneer in this field.

I'd say it depends on what would be done with the stats. IMO opinion one season is not a great sample but it's the best available as the end of the season usually means radical change to the players.
It's not a very useful answer, but that's stats for you.

Obviously, I'm not expecting him to turn prime Robben 🙂 , but I think he has some very good strengths against different sorts of opposition. For those who are just sitting deep, he would offer a longer-range shooting option from the left. For those who prefer to play some football, Sibley is one the best ball carriers we have.
He's not a lightning quick but he's not the slowest either.

I strongly suspect Sibbo for Elder. Sibbo shored up the left when he came on the other night. Elder will need support & careful rehab following his mistake; he’s clearly too much of a risk for this week’s game.

There are several scenarios you post about that seem wrapped up in speculation, Clowes family won’t let him spend so he needs to find investment seems to be the biggest one. What actual evidence is there to back this stance up?
We know from the wide reporting of it that we are subject to a business plan, drawn up by the club and approved by the EFL for 2 years post admin.
We know from what Warne has said across multiple interviews that he has a budget to use (one that Clowes believes is competitive enough to challenge for promotion, based on an interview he gave, with the caveat that nothing is guaranteed). Warne has explained a couple of times now that in a choice of paying wages out for a (perceived) good player on a free was believed to be more cost effective that using the budget on transfer fees and wages, meaning the budget will go further with our current approach (hindsight on one or two of them suggests otherwise of course).

Without visibility of the accounts, or inside knowledge of Clowes’ children’s view on their inheritance, I’m prone to lean into the logic based conclusion that the budget we have is decent but limited and I accept that present reality. We cannot currently throw money around without refrain, there has to be some consideration and limit to what is spent and how, and that’s just how things are for the club at this present moment, that’s how I see it anyway.

Dimmu reacted to Long Time Lurker in Academy thread 23/24
Living fairly near to Motspur Park, I went along to the game tonight.  While it's certainly disappointing that we were on the way to three points after 93 minutes and were going home with none after 97 (part of the first team ethos the academy certainly seems to have taken on board), I don't think we should get too downhearted.  Overall Fulham probably deserved their win, dominating possession for the last third of the match, and we were a bit reliant on their poor final balls and inept finishing at times.  That said, we matched them for long periods and I don't think anyone would have seen us as being two divisions below them, as we are of course at first team level.
Of the individual performances, four stood out for me for different reasons.  In the first half at least Fulham had no answer at all to Dejaune Brown, who simply bullied their rather large centre half as if it was the easiest thing in the world.  DB saw less of the ball in the second half, but he took his goal nicely.   Hopefully he will not be another Calum Ball type who struggles when up against more experienced and tougher opponents.  His overall game - touch, awareness, positioning etc - all seemed good to me.  This last point holds true for Lennon Wheeldon who really seems to be growing into the no 10 role.  Ryan Bartley had an excellent game at  centre back, a calm, reassuring presence who read the game well.  And then there was Darren Robinson, who I was particularly keen to watch, in part for some of the reasons discussed higher up in this thread.   I thought he was really good, passing the ball quickly and accurately with the minimum of fuss.  He was unlucky not to score when after a great run, he hit the post with the keeper stranded. He certainly likes a tackle.  One particular pole axing of a Fulham player was spectacular, with many in the crowd seemingly sharing my surprise that no free kick was given.
If it was up to me, I'd see DRob as a better bet for the first team than Tyrese Fornah, particularly as a CDM.  But it is of course not up to me at all, and DRob may have some mysterious Elsnikesque shortcoming which means he never makes it.    However, he seems to be ahead of Fornah in areas such as positioning and knowing when to release the ball.  This is not to slag off Fornah, who certainly has some talent but to me he plays more like an 18 year old than someone who is 23.  In parenthesis, as we used to say in the Ossie End, I do wonder whether this might be to do with where we got him from.    I recently saw a little documentary on Oliver Burke, who the Red Dogs managed to stiff RB Leipzig for about £13m back in the day.  The documentary made the point that Burke had a certain degree of raw talent, but the Leipzig coaches were surprised at how poorly he had been coached meaning that he was deficient in all sorts of basics.  Still, if you can get £13m for somebody that poor, you must literally be laughing all the way to the bank.

Please give the good character thing a rest, it’s well documented by other prominent football people that a person’s character and how they fit into the culture of the team and club matters. It’s not a weird Warne-ism nor is it the clever, witty jibe you and others seem to think.
    Sir Alex Ferguson was massive on it, Pep has bombed out players recently such as Cancelo because allegedly his attitude stank, Brendan Rodgers is quoted as saying a player’s character is a crucial factor he looks into before signing him, and Ange Postecoglou was quoted saying this in November 23;
“It’s everything for me,” Postecoglou told TNT Sports about recruiting players with the right character.
“One wrong character in your dressing room is a lot of problems. I will always forsake the quality of a player for the right character.
“When you’re working at this level - I know the fees we pay these days are ridiculous - I don’t think there’s a lot of difference between the best quality and the next level, it’s really small. But the character makes the big jump. I put a lot of stock in that.

What’s wrong with a box ticking exercise though? It’s about representation. It would be nice to say ‘let it happen organically’, but you have to force the issue sometimes and force representation to kick start it. In a generations time, hopefully it will be organic. The backlash these days is because it’s forced. But that’s necessary to make things happen and break the cycle.
I've got daughters, and there is so much more positive representation for them these days than when my sisters were kids. And I’m very happy about that.
i wonder if joey Barton has daughters or nieces, and if he expects them to shut up and cook his dinner, or if he hopes for something better for them.
its just very sad that as much as he may truly believe these things, what he’s really doing is putting on a character, like a heel in wrestling, because that panders to a certain audience, and that gets more likes and shares. And far from representing those that need the leg up, he gives a voice and representation to the bigots and small minded people who have ruled the world for thousands of years. Those that really need to fade away and make way for the kids.

16th place in the ratings but my player of the half-season is Collins. He is defending from the front so effectively, that he makes our centrebacks and rest of the defense look like world-beaters.
Not too shabby, while scoring once in 1,5 games.
