As of a couple of days ago, out of the 48 championship and league one clubs only something like 24 had released their retained lists so we’re not behind everyone, and what’s out there in the public domain isn’t necessarily evidence of what the club is doing recruitment wise as we saw with signings in Jan and last summer, a lot of them were kept well under wraps from media and social media accounts.

It's classic click farming stuff from the DerbyshireLive. I don't blame them for it, but this is how rumours start where there isn't any. Suddenly he will sign somewhere else and you'll have some fans claiming we missed out on a target and alike.

Not for me, feels a bit too short term, in a good position to build for the future now.
Feels like the squad is already top heavy with older forwards that we want rid of, why add another one?

Tyrese Francois, a 23 year old Australian out of contract at Fulham this summer on loan at Vejle Boldklub in Denmark where we know we’re looking. Fulham have kept him around for the last few years giving him the odd game here and there. His defensive stats are incredible and is the 98th percentile for defensive actions. 

His defensive stats in comparison to Ebou Adams per 90 to show how good his stats actually are. He’s left footed so the two of them could actually play together pretty should we get them. 
 
Lots of positives about him as he knows the English game, works hard, is on a free and is at a good age with up side.

Some really good posts in this thread, emphasising how it's hard to set a development path that works for all promising youngsters and so each individual needs to be considered as such.

Ideal scenario is probably four as you say.
Sign a quality striker and add another via, maybe a Prem loan.
That’s two additions in the area we need to improve most, along with central midfield. 
After that I’d look at Gayle to see if he still has the legs for another season, with Brown as the other option.
Obviously PW would need to take a good look at Brown and Gayle to see if they are up to it. But in Browns case, if he struggles in the first half of the season, we could always loan him out to a league one club and get a loan in to cover.

The assist stood out for me. That first touch was absolute filth and the pass weighted to perfection. Not too many 18 year olds have that in their locker at any level. I do agree though, that expectations should be tempered a little, as Championship football is a whole different kettle of fish, as we all know and you'd also think we'll be looking to recruit in his position too, which could make things even tougher. Good problems at last though and for me, the upcoming pre-season looks like being the most interesting in years.

You have to manage game time at his age. He doesn't need a full season starting. Perhaps half a season on our bench and if he doesn't force his way to starting, then half a season L1 loan.
 

I too think he should be in our Championship squad next season. However, I can understand a loan to L1 with a recall option, depending on who we can sign for the first team. At least it would give the club's staff some confidence in whether he could step up to the Championship for the 2nd half of the season.

Please Mr Warne, don't send him out on loan next season, save the club some money and put him in the 1st team squad.

Bit off-topic, but on the subject of Elder, I do think there's still plenty to come from him. I concede we've only seen flashes of ability to date, but I've a hunch he may yet prove to be a far better player than some credit.
He's obviously had his issues this season, but I'd not be surprised to see a different player if he can put his injury niggles behind him. If he can, then that also opens up the possibility of Sibley playing in a more advanced position. FWIW and counter-intuitive as it may sound, I'd fancy Louie more in an attacking role at Championship level, than at L1.

Really liked the bit in his recent interview where he was asked if he'd found his home at Derby, and he said this was his club. You can look at his career and see how often he's moved around, to the point that despite being here for 2 years he's already played more games for us than anyone else. He seems really settled, probably the most settled at a club he's ever been. Very similar to Curtis Davies really, someone else who eventually found his home here late in his career.
